Forbes Highest Paid Electronic DJs of 2013
Esteemed business magazine and infamous list makers Forbes have put together the 13 highest paid electronic music DJs of 2013, estimating their earning from live shows, endorsements, merchandise sales, recorded music sales, and external business ventures. While last year saw Tiesto top the list, bagging $22 million USD, this year sees Scottish producer Calvin Harris more than doubling that figure and netting a total of $46 million thanks to over 100 live shows at places like the Las Vegas megaclub Hakkasan (for which he received up to $200,000 per night). He also receives revenue from his songwriting work for megastars like Rihanna, meaning he ends up taking home even more money than the likes of Jay-Z and Katy Perry. How did he do it? “The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years,” he tells Forbes. “I happened to be in the right place at the right time.”
