The paintings of Slovakian artist Katarina Janeckova are soused in sex. Three lovers romp around in bed; a brunette poses for naked photos in a swimming pool; a woman spanks her partner with a hairbrush. But there is one thing lacking from her provocative tableaus—men. Instead, the women couple up with brown or black bears, rendered in woozy watercolor or acrylic brushstrokes. “For me, the bear is a perfect substitute for a man,” Janeckova explains. “I paint those bears as simple, strange dark figures, because it allows you to fantasize.” It also allows the women to become the central figures in her works, and for Janeckova to present them as strong and sexually empowered. “It’s a stereotype that pretty women are usually submissive, so I like to play around that,” Katarina says. “Sometimes it’s less visible and more in my head, sometimes it’s obvious or exaggerated.” It’s most apparent in some of her recent works, which portray the massive muscles of female bodybuilders. Katarina honors their forms by depicting them on the side of a Grecian urn, or even turning a container of Muscle Milk into a flower vase. “My ideal of female beauty changed,” Katarina discusses in the following interview, along with sex, symbols and her current exhibition, How to Make a Bear Fall in Love, which is currently on view at Studio d’Arte Raffaelli in Trento, Italy.
Every catch the reflection off a puddle just right, and catch an amazing reflection? Well ‘Local Preacher’ has, and luckily for us, he had his camera with him. Check out his incredible body of work created from these bodies of water.
We live in a time where we are constantly bombarded with information. Distractions from social media notifications, emails, breaking news and pop up messages have become the norm. Has our love for technology made us blind? Have we lost our ability to focus on what really matters? We have to modify technology before it modifies us. Check the short two videos below.
It was not that long ago at all that we posted some amazing work from Ekaterina Belinskaya, but here some more is yet again. Yet again this incredible photographer has caused wonder and amazement to the eye with this series of these wildly fantastical shots. The collection is titled “Paint Me Up”… Check the method.
Some of the most amazing visuals come from the most unexpected places. The Olab Coiffeurs Salon in Montreal has an incredible marketing campaign that not only shows off their hair styles, but the prowess of the make up artists as well. From the backgrounds, to the “clothing” patterns, this collection is amazing. Check the method below.

A diamond exhibition has been designed in Maasmechelen Village by Creneau International, and “It is a BEAUT”. When they were assigned to create a design for a ‘Love the Diamond boutique’, this INCREDIBLE interior instructor gave life to one of the most artistic, colorful, and visually pleasing exhibitions we here at djstormsblog.com have seen to date.
They started their design with the origin of the diamond: (crystallized) carbon. Diamonds consist entirely of crystallized carbon. Carbon can only crystallize at extremely high temperatures and pressure; circumstances found 150 kilometers below ground. Crystallized carbon rises to the surface through volcano eruptions, sealed in volcanic rock.
The black rough stone that emerges from the heart of the earth has, after lots of grinding and polishing, a shiny core with many facets and colors. This is exactly what they see in the interior design. The walls are painted black and look like they’ve plastered them with carbon. At the center of the exposition an iridescent volume is shining in an array of colors and facets. This can not be exemplified by photos. This is TRULY a sight to behold.
The word “colorful” is a massive understatement when considering the collection you just scrolled through. “Cyber Sound” is one of the newest art additions to ‘Local Preacher’s photography collection, and as aligned with the rest of his work, it is AMAZING. As a DJ, it’s incredible to see the tools I use being so eloquently portrayed in such amazing photos. Shouts to ‘Local Preacher’ and his amazing ability to use lighting to exemplify the intricacies of the gear myself, and everyone else who does what I do in his work.
Recently I came across the fantastical illustrations of artist Stephanie Lopez of Wilmington, CA. She’s a CSUEB grad who has a passion for basketball (that definitely translates into her work). Having an extremely detailed, and slightly caricatured style of drawings, the artist better known as “2Craft” and her works tend to reflect athletes from basketball players to boxers. From famous movies, to great moments in sports to celebrities, her “Michael Tudor-esque” style of art is definitely work checking out further. Luckily… you can do that right here.
Seeing as how my birthday was recently, I’ve been hearing many a story from my childhood today. But listening to this has brought back memories that only people in my age range would associate with. Once again, the amazing photographer Mike Campau has captured these images perfectly.
Generation gap.
Images of my childhood, when we…
had to get up to change the channel, collected enough stickers to fill a photo album (oh, and we had photo albums), video games were for rainy days, used film to capture images, cranked up our boom boxes with homemade mixed tapes, ran around with toy guns that looked like the real thing, and had to “dial” a number.
Virtual Nostalgia (100% CGI)
The “Beat The Robots” advertising campaign is one that stuns the eye, and captivates the imagination. As you can see by the photos above, these life-like creations of bionic humanoid creatures is nothing short of incredible. The overall finished designs should be the envy of film makers across the world.
The layouts, intricacies, and especially the textures that are used in the designs, are quite spectacular. The digital animation required to create these visuals are almost beyond comprehension given the final results, but here are the credits for the amazing pictures.
Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) flabbergasted the country when he randomly released his incredible video for “This Is America”. The symbolism, reflections of the current state of the U.S., and the over all tone of the music video is undeniably well thought out, original, and has resonated to not just Americans. Several artists from all around the world have stepped up to represent the problems in the places that they live. NOW, not to downplay the plights of other nations, but the similar styles, which are directly bitten from Gambino seem a bit unoriginal, and although the messages are clear, insightful, and informative, after a bit, one would hope that these artists would have found their own way to convey their thoughts. That being said, these “remixes” of ‘This Is America’ are extremely worth taking a listen to. Between I-NZ bringing light to the state of Iraq post Americas 2003 invasion, or Falz discussing the conditions of current day Nigera, you can search for almost any country you want, you’ll find one of these videos. Check the method below, listen to the messages.
Russia may be on America’s radar for some ugly reasons, but it’s on ours for some beautiful ones. Photographer Tali Rutman has an incredible collection of photos, featuring a model painted with replicas of amazing abstract paintings.
Since her captivating performance on the hit show ‘The Walking Dead’, Danai Gurira has been one of my favorite actresses. But since her two most recent performances (Black Panther, and Avengers: Infinity War) as the certified badass Okoye of the Dora Milaje, Danai has solidified herself as one of the best. Not to mention her most recent shoot in ROUGE Magazine. Check out the images below.
The difference between the cadet photos, and the more polished ones are astonishing, simply because both sets are incredible.

It hasn’t been until recently that the team discovered the work of Thomas Cian, but when we did, we were blown away by the intricacies of his portraits. Take a look below of his incredible pencil work, and creative portrait design.
For their affiliates, HBO (Asia) creates a calendar highlighting movies and series broadcasted on the channel. Florian was commissioned by Patrick Tan (Art Director at HBO) for the realization of the 12 illustrations. The work speaks for itself.
The Dotti is cute, but more importantly, it’s versatile. In fact, it’s so versatile it’s capable of being used for a dizzyingly large variety of things. Outwardly, this box is an array of lights that can light up to notify you when you get… well… notifications, but it’s much more than that. It’s a canvas, that allows you to not just create your own art within its 8X8 framework, you can even pair multiple Dottis together to make a larger canvas for you to draw on.
The Dotti comes with a few tricks up its sleeves too. It acts as a clock when not delivering app or phone notifications to you. Play music and the Dotti comes alive by showing a dancing equalizer… and my favorite Easter egg is the game mode, that allows the Dotti to function as a die (singular for dice?). Shake the Dotti and it’ll flash a random number from 1 to 6, functioning as a die that you can play games with. Built with a lithium-ion battery that gives it as much as 750 hours of use on a single charge, there’s a lot the Dotti can do to not just keep you in the loop, but also keep you entertained.

Not long ago, KAWS took to Instagram to announce his upcoming solo exhibitions at contemporary art gallery Perrotin‘s Tokyo and Hong Kong locations. The Brooklyn-based artist will present new paintings that draw upon abstract pop art influences alongside visual reinterpretations of iconic pop culture figures. Moreover, new sculptures that portray KAWS’ iconic cast of characters such as Companion and Chum will be on display at both locations.
In her experimental fashion and fine art photography, Elizaveta Porodina travels through time and space, extracting the underlying emotions in her entrancing productions. The Moscow born studied clinical psychologist plays with melancholic symbolism, sets connotations, sometimes ambiguous, sometimes honest and obvious – her range widely varying between cinematic, fashion and almost documentary imagery. Whether in dramatic black and white or vividly colored artworks, the Munich based photographer is a master of dark romanticism.

Although we’ve covered work from Elizaveta Porodina before, this German artists’ work has never been better or more stunning. With ballet seeming influences, the elegant poses, and illustrious style of work, this collection is nothing to be missed. Check the method below.
