Vintage Sculptures With A Modern Twist.
Based in Turin, art and design collective Nucleo investigate past and future time-frames and the spaces they present, often in the form of sculpture and design objects. In the series of conceptual sculptures titled ‘Boolean’, Robino works alongside Torino-born artist Edoardo U. Trave, to explore a contemporary intervention of figurative vintage sculptures. Nucleo take inspiration from computer-generated Boolean data, in which values are reduced to true or false. This binary logic is represented by the fusion of two strikingly opposing forms: the classical sculpture of an animal or human figure, and rectangular cuboids of polished bronze plates. By implementing Boolean’s computer-aided design functions of intersection and union, Nucleo initiate a dialogue between the past and the future, creating a new space in history that is both yet to happen and already has.
