One of L.A.’s Finest Luxury Homes.

I’m a big fan of nice homes, especially the ones that fall into the luxury bracket.  But this luxury LA property, with the interior designed by Marc Canadell is a contemporary masterpiece set in an acre of land for those who value privacy and tranquility in my favorite busy city. The interior has been finished using high quality materials and luxury furniture throughout. The property compromises of of over 9000 square feet of luxurious living space, with five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, bespoke kitchen, stunning city views and an outdoor cinema projector.

Amazing Paint-Spill Painting.

Paintings can take many different shapes and styles, but spill paintings are among some of the oddest.  This unique style of painting simply involves dripping large amounts of paint onto a structure, and watching the natural flow of the paint create the rest.  Check out a video of this amazing art form below.

Chaplin vs Hitler

Leonardo da Vinci once said: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”, and architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe adopted the motto “Less is more” to describe his extreme simplicity, by enlisting every element and detail to serve multiple visual and functional purposes (such as designing a floor to also serve as the radiator, or a massive fireplace to also house the bathroom).

Even after 500 years Leonardo’s words are true and this rule is still widely used in design and advertising. It may sound  a bit contradictory, but simple things often require much more brain power to create than the most complicated stuff. And it always strikes you when something completely simple is capable of conveying so much more than you expect.

The Avengers Starts Production.

Production has commenced today in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated movie “Marvel’s The Avengers,” directed by Joss Whedon (“Serenity”) from a screenplay by Whedon.  The film will continue principal photography in Cleveland, Ohio and New York City. Robert Downey, Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) returns as the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) as Thor, Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Captain America, Jeremy Renner (“Thor,” “The Hurt Locker”) as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo (“The Kids Are Alright”) as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson (“Iron Man 2”) as Black Widow, Clark Gregg (“Iron Man,” “Thor”) as Agent Phil Coulson, and Samuel L. Jackson (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) as Nick Fury.  Set for release in the US on May 4, 2012, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest super hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of super heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Tom Hiddleston (“Wallander”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Angels & Demons,” “Mamma Mia!”) who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature “Thor.”

“Marvel’s The Avengers” is being produced by Marvel Studios’ President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Patty Whitcher, and Jon Favreau. Marvel Studios’ Jeremy Latcham and Victoria Alonso will co-produce.

The creative production team also includes Oscar nominated director of photography Seamus McGarvey (“Atonement”), production designer James Chinlund (“25th Hour”), Oscar winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne (“Elizabeth: The Golden Age”), Oscar winning visual effects supervisor Janek Sirrs (“Iron Man 2,” “The Matrix”), visual effects producer Susan Pickett (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”), stunt coordinator R.A. Rondell (“Superman Returns”), and four-time Oscar nominated special effects supervisor Dan Sudick (“Iron Man,” “War of the Worlds”). The editors include Oscar nominated Paul Rubell (“Collateral”) and Jeffrey Ford (“Crazy Heart”).

Marvel Studios most recently produced “Iron Man 2” which was released in theatres on May 7, 2010. The sequel to “Iron Man,” starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow as well as Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the number one spot its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million. To date the film has earned over $620 million in worldwide box office receipts.

In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies, “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.”  “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey, Jr. originally dons the super hero’s powerful armor alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008 and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million its opening weekend and grossed over $571 million worldwide. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released “The Incredible Hulk” marking its second number one opener of that summer. The spectacular revival of the iconic green goliath grossed over $250 million in worldwide box office receipts.

B.O.B. vs. Tyler The Creator?

Although I don’t have a personal opinion on the matter, I know that not everyone is amused by the antics of Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator.  B.o.B took aim at the upstart on Friday (March 25) with a fiery dis track titled “No Future,” a response to a line the California rapper issued on his breakout “Yonkers.”

“What you think of Hayley Williams?/ F— her, Wolf Haley robbing ’em,” “I’ll crash that f—ing airplane that that f—-t n—a B.o.B is in/ And stab Bruno Mars in his goddamn esophagus.”

The line is characteristic of Tyler and his crew’s shocking rhymes; the collective are, in part, inspired by Eminem and works like his Relapse album with its slew of serial-killer references.  The “Airplanes” star, however, isn’t a fan.

“If I was you I would be a little more cautious,” Bobby Ray raps on “No Future.” “I’m way too high for you to look at/ The future ain’t looking promising for these rookies/ This is target practice but I don’t even pull the f—ing trigger anymore, ’cause it’s just a waste of bullets/ Come and get this pu—, wipe them off the floor/ I’m guessing they was hoping for some different results/ I’m guessing they was guessing ’cause they wasn’t really sure/ But f— it, I guess I’mma have to let these n—-s know.  Keep f—ing with me, you ain’t gon have no future,”

Tyler responded via Twitter. Perhaps taking the high road after driving too close to the edge, the 20-year-old wrote that he didn’t think “No Future” was a dis track. He even gave B.o.B props on the rhyme.  “Whoa,” he wrote in his first message. “I don’t think the ‘No Future’ song is even a diss. But I’ve never heard him spit like that. Took me by surprise, cus it’s tight.”  A second message took a swipe at producer Alex Da Kid over “Airplanes” and “Love the Way You Lie” sounding too similar.

Got Wood?

As technology continues its meteoric rise, gadgets are becoming an ever more important part of our day to day lives. Designers occasionally grow tired of sleek plastic and modern alloy finishes and like to return to the nostalgia of yesteryear. Modern gadgets in a well finished casing of good old fashioned wood can give the item unique appeal and the conflict of the modern device and its wooden outer creates a truly interesting object. Below are some of the coolest wooden gadgets we have seen.

The CardSharp.

I’ve only been stabbed once, (and I did not enjoy it), so I tend to stay away from big knives, but the CardSharp however is something that caught my interest quite quickly.  CardSharp a superlight and supersharp utility knife, the same size as a credit card.  Just three ingenious folding operations metamorphosise the card into an elegant pocket utility tool. Slimmer and lighter than an ordinary knife.  The extra long stainless steel surgical blade ensures longer lasting rust free sharpness. The built-in protective sheath helps prevent injury or blunting. CardSharp® is an ingenious conversation piece. A sharp idea that slips safely inside your wallet or kit bag.  Test marketing in various territories has proven CardSharp is a major hit. ‘Iain Sinclair’s CardSharp is doing for pocket knifes what the MacBook Air did for laptops’ – (  CardSharp samples are now shipping for media and press. Estimated next shipping date for public: end of April 2011.  Check the method.

‘Welcome To My Hood’ – Official Remix Video.

During the Lil Wayne ‘I Am Still Music’ concert I attended on Easter, Weezy stopped the show and told the crowd to throw their hands up if they were raised in the hood, and I had to keep it real, be honest, and keep quiet… until my assistant started screaming, (at which point I had to break my silence tell her to shut up, because she wasn’t raised in the hood either).  But regardless of my upbringing, I still thoroughly enjoy DJ Khaled’s song ‘Welcome To My Hood”, and hearing his fully loaded remix is dope, but the video is even doper, check the method below.

The Period Remedy, A Chocolate Waterfall.

I’m sure making your way to the waterfall, you can smell the chocolate (and if you’re a girl during that time of the months, your cramps have already ceased to exist). It seemed surreal that what looked like a simple storefront could house a five ton waterfall of chocolate in the pictures, but take a look, its all true… you won’t believe your eyes when you see the madness they set up (and the souvenir you get to bring home too.)

The Illest Clock You’ll Ever See.

This unconventional looking typographic clock is a creation of Biegert & Funk, straight from Germany.  QlockTwo tells the time by illuminating words with LEDs. The clock is fitted with light sensor for automatic adjustment to ambient light. The magnetic front part can be replaced without any visible attachments so you have plenty of color choices to suite your mood.

Furiously Dangerous.

Click the pic to listen.

The ‘movie soundtrack’ single is something that producers inject into the public to boost awareness of an upcoming film.  Most of the time it doesn’t really work, or falls short of a track the general public respects as anything more than a publicity stunt.  The song “Furiously Dangerous” however is a totally different ball game.  Mr. Porter laced an energy packed beat that Ludacris, the entire Slaughterhouse team and Claret Jai totally demolish.  Click the pic to listen to the first single off the “Fast Five” soundtrack.

Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream.

Liquid Nitrogen made by Smitten Ice Cream is made on the spot and is certainly a different take on the Nitro-Ice Cream trend than Chin Chin Labs that Justinechecked out for us in London ~ that was a bit more mad scientist with lab coats and kitchen-aid mixers…  Father/Daughter team Chas Edwards and Roma Edwards, indulged my curiosity and took a bunch of awesome cell phone pics when trying out Smitten Ice Cream in Hayes Valley, CA.  My fascination began when I saw a show about unusual cooking methods and I realized that food’s just more fun with a bit of dramatic looking crazy science.  (Especially in a shipping container.) Though apparently the made-to-order process does take some time… and it melts a bit quickly, but it does look fun.

10 Unusual T’s

Today, we can’t imagine our lives without the T-Shirt, however “t-shirt” didn’t even exist in English dictionary until the 1920′s, and only in 1960′s it became stylish  and entered the mainstream fashion.  It may be hard to believe, but up until the 1950’s, t-shirts were still considered underwear until Marlon Brando, John Wayne, and James Dean shocked Americans by wearing their “underwear” on television.  This, of course, convinced the public that it was absolutely OK to were T-Shirts, and now, after more than 50 years, there are thousands of really cool and sometimes even crazy T-shirt designs out there check the method.

Ingenious Japanese Label Design Ensures Food Safety.

Japanese design agency TO-GENKYO has designed an innovative hourglass shaped label for packaged meat which uses a special ink that changes color as ammonia is released inside the package. As the meat ages, it releases increasing amounts of the substance, obscuring the barcode at the bottom. Customers can quickly see if the meat is going bad – and when the barcode becomes completely covered, it can’t be scanned.

The Ultra Modern Benz A-Class.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a radical overhaul of its A-Class compact at Auto Shanghai. The German automaker said that the new Concept A-Class was “the first heartbeat of a new generation.”  It signals a major departure from the boxy outline of the current A-Class, popular in cities because of its small size, in favor of a long hood, low silhouette and more sporty appearance.  Mercedes-Benz design chief Gorden Wagener said that the new look was inspired by “the wind and waves, as well as aviation engineering, resulting in this ‘cool’ look.”  Designed to take on premium urban cars such as the Audi A1 and BMW 1-Series, the redesigned A-Class packs a turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the new M270 series, developing 155 kW with a transmission the automaker says is economical, sporty and comfortable.

With a large panoramic roof, the Concept A-Class is particularly airy, reinforced by the aircraft-inspired interior which has resulted in component groups being reduced to a minimum and a high-tech lining which gives the dash a “free-floating” effect.  A smartphone holder has been integrated into the center console, allowing drivers to operate their handsets from the car’s infotainment system designed by Mercedes-Benz technical teams in Silicon Valley (Palo Alto), California.  The addition of a radar-based collision warning system, which warns the driver of a potential collision and primes the brakes, could help to prevent around 20 percent of all rear-end collisions, and mitigate the severity of a further 25 percent, according to the automaker’s research.

The Lovely Ms. Ophilia.

Originally from the Midwest (Indianapolis, Indiana), LaToya “Ophilia” Bledsoe is a unique beauty of African American / Puerto Rican descent. Her true passion is fashion and she is currently in school studying fashion design. Naturally, her interest in fashion goes hand in hand with modeling. Ophilia is no amateur in front of the camera and is always able to captivate her audience.  In 2000, Ophilia began to publicize herself through modeling. She did hair shows for well recognized hairstylists from Indianapolis and Detroit, and was also on the cover of the hair show tape for Hair Wars with Hump the Grinders. Then in 2001, she appeared on the Ricky Lake Show, where she won the best model and hair contest.  Later (after establishing that she was ready for more exposure), she signed the non-exclusive modeling agency ‘Lmodelz’.  She began shooting with skilled photographers all over the Midwest. Ophilia is working very hard to fulfill her ambitions and reach her dreams.  She has been in many of the videos that I always used to watch from artists like 50 Cent,, and his been in everything from Show Magazine to Harley Davidson campaigns.

Maybach Music @ The “I Am Still Music” Tour.

So I’ve been semi-obsessed with the “I Am Still Music” tour ever since I got my tickets months ago.  Although (at least on the blog) I’ve been primarily focused on Weezy and crew, I saw a production from Dre Films/Maybach Films of the tour from Rick Ross’s end of things and was quite impressed.  The video basically documents the Maybach Music camp and their show in Washington D.C.  Check the method below.

A Floating Pool?

A giant floating pool just off the riverside of Manhattan – for swimming and also filters and cleans the water? Why not? That’s what a group of designers and architects are proposing in + Pool (Plus Pool), a multi-purpose pool and urban revitalization concept that is in the shape of – you guessed it – a plus sign. They are looking for civic support for what is envisioned as a “giant strainer dropped into the river”, which will also serve as a public amenity and ecological prototype. We love the sexy pool images and the clever way water filtration is incorporated into the concept:

The idea would be that the floating pool(s) could be integrated into any of Manhattan’s riverside parks, adding an extra iconic element.  The pool’s configuration also allows different mixed uses: the shallower areas for kids’ and lounging pool, the deeper areas for sports and lap swimming, or for swim meets as well.

The pool walls consist of concentric layers of filtration materials that screen out bacteria, pollutants and odors so that the water within the pool is safe for swimming – reminiscent of an artificial floating trash island which can be constructed to purify a water body by filtering out impurities.  Not surprisingly, + Pool harkens back to the old days back in the 19th century when floating spas and riverside public pools filled with droves of happy swimming people existed in Lower Manhattan. Even today in NYC, there’s The Floating Lady, a recommissioned barge in the Bronx that was transformed in 2007 into a floating barge pool.

The Lurkiest Commercial Ever.

I loved this years Superbowl, and it’s commercials, and I tried to get off of the subject once it was over, but this one Doritos commercial keeps popping up on TV, and puts me on the floor each time.  It aired during Super Bowl 45, but I’m 90% certain I didn’t see it.  With a funky blend of McLovin (not the Christopher Mintz-Plasse, but someone who looks just like him) Doritos, and an unprecedented amount of “lurkiness”, this commercial drops my jaw every single time I see it.

Future Concept Watches.

The words “future concept” normally apply to cars, but when I read about these ‘Future Concept’ watches, I was more than interested.  I’ve said many a time before, I’m a huge watch person, but these are on a whole ‘nother level.  A concept watch for Tokyoflash, the Solaris features solar cells as an integral part of the design. It definitely has that almost “too hard to use” quality found on most Tokyoflash watches but theres something about this design I find extremely appealing. Perhaps because it looks like a device a sci-fi hero would use to jump through time.

The 6 Girls You’ll Date In College.

Most guys have dated their fair share of girls in their college days.  I too have had a few different types that were serious for a bit, but when I saw the College Humor skit “The 6 Girls You’ll Date In College”, my jaw dropped.  I’m pretty sure I’ve encountered 5 out of 6 types of the girls listed.  (The “Girl Who Loves To Party” doesn’t really apply to me, simply because going to clubs is my job.)  But other than that, almost all the rest were dead on.  Guys, check the method below, and see if College Humor didn’t hit the nail on the head.

DJ Storm Presents: KJ – ‘Practice Round’

Click the pic to listen.

I’ve worked with ton’s of artists on different projects from all around the globe, but its always refreshing to find great talent when you weren’t looking for it.  The female emcee KJ represents just that, a lyrical smack in the face, just when you thought it was a good day.  Click the pic to take a listen to the freestyle track “Practice Round” to hear KJ prove her skills without even trying.  To learn more about KJ, just read below.

Born in the Bay Area in Hayward, California, K.J. grew up with a musician family. Raised by her mother in a single parent home, she was brought up in the C.O.G.I.C. church learning to play many instruments by ear. She fell in love with Hip-Hop at age 12, when listening to artists like Da Brat, MC Lyte and Southern California’s own Snoop Dogg. Being inspired by the sound of a beat K.J. she began to compose songs from the heart and tell stories from a woman’s perspective. Representing the Female MC’s throughout high school upgrading to local music competitions and performances. 10 Super Creative Facebook Layouts.

A few months back, Facebook revamped the profile layout; and we all know that some many users were complaining about the Facebook new profile page layout for a while. But, some more creative individuals made the best of the situation and started having fun with it, showing really serious creativity by taking advantage of Facebook new profile page photo layout.  I heard that it all started when a French Artist Alexandre Oudin began showing creativity with the profile images.  And since then, a trend has been set with more and more such designs are now emerging. Facebook users are playing around with their profile pics and creating awesome profile page using animations, photography, typography and videos.  Unfortunately just like everything else truly creative, other people try to profit off of it, and we wind up with website that let you pick a pre-made banner and plop it onto your page.  But here are a list of 10 people who chose to do something original before it was a fad.

Aston Martin for iPhone?

Following on from the success of the free ‘Explore’ App released in December 2010, Aston Martin announces the release of the premium ‘Experience’ App.  Apparently developed with the “same ethos” with which Aston Martin designs and engineers its cars, the new app combines some of the functionality of the automaker’s former app, Explore, with some new, premium features.  The most useful is a partnership with luxury city guide series “A Hedonist’s Guides” to provide guides to 40 global cities, with images and video for each destination.  A database of some of the world’s best driving roads is also included, allowing drivers to ‘check in’ to each one to share their experiences, while the app features a speedometer overlaid onto the camera display, capable of measuring the speed at which the iPhone is traveling.  Best of all, the app comes preloaded with Aston Martin sounds, meaning that if you can’t shell out for one of the company’s £80,000 ($116,000) supercars, you can listen to the sound one would make while going about your everyday business.  The app itself is rather expensive, costing £3.49 in the UK and $5.99 in the US — but at least it’s cheaper than an Aston Martin.  The top-end British brand isn’t the only marque to be found in the App Store — Bentley offers its Pure Bentley app and Rolls-Royce offers a Ghost app that allows users to customize its cars from their iPhone.

Double Exposures.

With the series “The World Inside off Custom”, artist Dan Mountford from Brighton shows us the extent of his talent around the idea of a double exposures. These ridiculously detailed and attention grabbing photos, Dan exploits the faces and the forms which emerge from the photographic process.  Check the method.
