Pocket Pixels?

The Dotti is cute, but more importantly, it’s versatile. In fact, it’s so versatile it’s capable of being used for a dizzyingly large variety of things. Outwardly, this box is an array of lights that can light up to notify you when you get… well… notifications, but it’s much more than that. It’s a canvas, that allows you to not just create your own art within its 8X8 framework, you can even pair multiple Dottis together to make a larger canvas for you to draw on.

The Dotti comes with a few tricks up its sleeves too. It acts as a clock when not delivering app or phone notifications to you. Play music and the Dotti comes alive by showing a dancing equalizer… and my favorite Easter egg is the game mode, that allows the Dotti to function as a die (singular for dice?). Shake the Dotti and it’ll flash a random number from 1 to 6, functioning as a die that you can play games with. Built with a lithium-ion battery that gives it as much as 750 hours of use on a single charge, there’s a lot the Dotti can do to not just keep you in the loop, but also keep you entertained.

Super Mario Odyssey Is Right Around The Corner.

A few months ago I bought my best friend’s kid a Nintendo Switch, and was actually jealous.  With the announcement of Super Mario Odyssey, I remember the first time Super Mario 64 blew my mind. Having watched this video, I’m convinced that the team behind this game has made a groundbreaking and immensely enjoyable platformer. The use of Cappy as a platforming tool as well as its applications in combat situations is very inventive. I look forward to getting my hands on this at some point in the near future.  Super Mario Odyssey will be released on October 27th exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, check out the overview video below.

Mario Ft. Nicki Minaj – Somebody Else

R&B artist Mario makes his return with the official single “Somebody Else” ft. Nicki Minaj, a summer bump for anyone with a broken heart, someone who wasted their time on someone who wasn’t worth in the long run and woofer speakers to blast their emotions through song.

A Pimp With Two Paddles And Some PVC Pipes.

I tend to get thrown some crazy videos when I’m working with my staff on blog posts, but I rarely bounce them onto the blog simply because I don’t really relate to it, or its honestly just not that good.  The video below however is falls into neither of those categories.  With all the research I’ve done, I still can’t find this kid’s name for the life of me, but he deserves a medal, or record deal, or a blowjob from every girl that was in the room while he pulled off this performance.  Said genius below starts off playing a tune on a cleverly constructed (yet simplistic) PVC pipe organ wit two paddles, and plays for about 6 minutes.  Now being a DJ, I know how hard it can be to transition between songs on turntables while keeping the audience interested, not making every transition the same, bridging the gap between genres, keeping the BPM’s the same, and playing songs that any given group of listeners will enjoy… all at the same time.  But I could never imagine doing that ALL with two paddles and some PVC pipe.  Check the awesomeness below… and wait till the very last song when his surprise guest jumps in and gets busy.

Mario Disected.

Artist Jason Freeny appears to have studied his plumber physiology well, and has cut open Mario for us to see all his bones and internal organs. I was assuming that we might see some 1-up mushrooms making their way through his lower intestine, but no such luck. He’s also not 100% anatomically-correct, if you know what I mean – unless Mario is a Eunuch.  You probably don’t want to show this one to your kids unless you want them to have nightmares for a really long time.

The Brothers Mario.

The classic video game icons Mario and Luigi aren’t normally known for busting any ass unless it’s Bowser’s, but in the presentation by “The Country Club” things have changed. The machinima movie uses a GTA engine to create one of the most ridiculous demonstrations of bad-assery ever captured on film. Mario and Luigi are mobsters trying to fight for freedom in the mushroom kingdom. I don’t think anyone will look at plumbers the same way again. Check the method below.

Super Mario Kart: The Board Game.

I’m not a big fan of board games. I’ll play a board game if its on a console or my phone, but somehow the fun of an analog version escapes me. But the fact that we live in a digital age did not stop Japanese game maker Epoch from unveiling a Super Mario Bros and a Super Mario Kart board game at the Tokyo Toy Show.

The Mario Bros version is a one player game that involves navigating a metal ball through a maze as quickly as possible. The Mario Kart version adds a second player and requires basically the same thing, only you have to get your ball to the finish faster than your opponent. Both games feature authentic sounds from the video games.
