Casa TO, designed by Ludwig Godefroy and completed in 2022, is a small hotel in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico. The building is organized around a central courtyard and pool and is made mainly of concrete. Its thick walls, curved ceilings, and deep openings help protect the interior from the hot tropical climate while still allowing natural light and air to enter.
The hotel uses open walkways, shaded spaces, and courtyards to connect the guest rooms. The heavy concrete helps keep the building cool, while the large openings provide daylight and natural ventilation. Instead of using decoration to define the building, Casa TO gets its character from its structure, simple geometric shapes, and the way the spaces respond to the climate.
