Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.

A “ronin” is a samurai without a master. But this is just the tip of the sword when it’s put in the context of this incredible stand alone story developed and written by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. In the future, New York City is controlled by Oroku Hiroto, who runs the city with strict rules and power. A lone turtle, brandishing all of the four brothers weapons, haunted by visions of his dead family, wants to stop Hiroto, blaming him for his brothers’ deaths. He fights through the city, facing synthetic ninjas, and tries to attack the Foot Clan headquarters but fails. The last ronin retreats into the sewer, where a girl named Jones finds him. She discovers that he is the last remaining turtle of the four. He’s so dope there’s even a Funko Pop for him.

Flashbacks show events leading to the present: After Shredder’s death, the Turtles and the Foot Clan tried to make peace, but it fell apart. Splinter is now known not to be the only one to parish. A peace meeting turned deadly, leads to more deaths. The last ronin lived alone until he realized he must stop Hiroto. He meets April and her daughter, Casey Marie Jones, who leads a resistance against Hiroto. Short synopsis… this is SUPER sick book. Who is ‘The Last Ronin’? We don’t know? (…we do) but we can’t WAIT for you to see who the last surviving turtle is, we won’t spoil it. It’s a spectacular book. Also MAYBE not the end of the story?
