Get Your Head In The Clouds.

464 186 262 362

Clouds are natural canvases and in certain conditions, they can look very picturesque. French artist and photographer Charles Pétillion drew inspiration from the visually limitless variations of cloud formations to create a cumulus cloud using over 10,000 illuminated white balloons. The installation, titled, “Heartbeat”, is featured inside London’s Covent Garden and stretches the length of its entire South Hall.

Describing the project, Pétillion says, “With Heartbeat I wanted to represent the Market Building as the beating heart of this area — connecting its past with the present day to allow visitors to re-examine its role at the heart of London’s life.” Check out some more photos below.

The First Official Look At Wonder Woman.

Wonder-Woman-Comic-Con-Poster

Comic Con has been surprisingly underwhelming this year, with more posters for highly anticipated films than actual footage.  Fortunately DC has come through in the clutch, and presented us with our first look at 2017’s ‘Wonder Woman’ film.  Check the trailer below, and let us know what you think.

The Shark Yacht.

Inspired by the sea’s most famous apex predator, the Hyperlien Shark 46 was designed as an abstraction of the fierce fish – the resulting aesthetic is modern, muscular and masculine.  Conceptualized by Janus Huang, Nissan Kao, Eric Wang and the Hyperlien Yacht Design Department, poised like it’s ready to strike, it’s aggressive lines and hydrodynamic shape are at once elegant and sporty. Inside, owners will enjoy a luxurious interior with all the trimmings, including an extra large sunroof that makes the cabin seem much larger while giving guests the feeling of being outdoors from the comfort of the plush interior.  Check the method.

God Does Love Uugly.

IMG_1067

Hot off the presses is the latest release from the musically ubiquitous Duckwrth, titled “Get Uugly”.  This track is a glorious new age love child between Kanye’s “808 and Heartbreaks”, Snoop Dogg’s “Sexual Seduction”, and “Marilyn Monroe” off of Pharrell’s ‘Girl’ album.  Georgia Anne Muldrow displays both her singing prowess, and quite an impressive and dexterous flow on the track.  Mixed down by Neal Pogue, and produced by ‘LIKE’, if you’re already a fan of the Duck man, this track is sure to impress.  Check the method below.

The Love Triangle We’ve Been Waiting For.

minko_buds_1 minko_buds_2

I’ve already said that I think there’s a devil in hell dedicated to making our lives miserable by knotting up all our headphone wires… and like holy water repels evil, the Minko Buds repel the evil deeds of this devil. This nifty little tool allows you to separate the three essential wires that comprise the earphone. The tool also separates, allowing you to use your earphones as if there was nothing attached in the first place. Take that, Devil.

Sony’s New ‘Magnificent Seven’ Trailer.

The-Magnificent-Seven-International-Poster

The Magnificent Seven is a remake that some people don’t want, however, getting a better look at this second trailer makes all of our writers think folks should wait before making judgment.

Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ The Magnificent Seven. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.

Have You Ever Seen A Rose Pose?

carl7

The melancholy mood of Stockholm-based photographer Carl Kleiner’s photography series, Postures, proves that while some of us may be talented in floral arrangement, only Kleiner has the gift of a tulip whisperer.  And yes, they’re not actually roses, but using tulips, simple props and splendid lighting, Kleiner has created an eerily human atmosphere that suggests that each pose, in its skill and elegance, is somehow a sad premonition of an ending. A cut flower is doomed to die but in their final moments, these tulips are making art.

Stateside Sandwiches (Pt.1)

missouri-stately-sandwiches

Design student Kelly Pratt has started a tasty creativity challenge called Stately Sandwiches, where she makes a sandwich inspired by each of the 50 states and turns it into a poster design before consuming her creation.  I didn’t know how accurate these were until I saw hawaii and New Jersey.  Check and see if yours is accurate.

What Happens When You Give Dr. Doom An Ironman Suit?

im-vs-dd-1600

Love or hate the direction Marvel are taking their comics in, there’s no denying that the idea of Victor Von Doom suiting up as the new Iron Man is at least somewhat intriguing. The fate of Tony Stark following the events of Civil War II remains a mystery, but with Riri Williams in one suit and Doom in another, chances are that he could go the same was as Captain America at the end of Civil War.  Time will tell on that front, but below you’ll find Alex Maleev’s designs for the Infamous Iron Man. He’ll be providing the artwork in the series for writer Brian Michael Bendis, and there’s no denying that the villain looks pretty cool here. It’s an interesting mashup of the classic Iron Man look and Doctor Doom’s well known armour, and Victor will no doubt be packing some very cool new firepower as well…

Ali Esmaeilipour, The Voice Of The ‘Immigrant’.

Miaja-Gallery_Ali-Esmailipour_Immigrant-6_140cm-x-100cm_Acrylic-_-Cut-papers-Gold-Silver-leaves-on-canvas-1024x724

A solo exhibition featuring the works of Iranian artist Ali Esmaeilipour called Immigrant will run at the Miaja Gallery until July 8. It will feature mixed-media work based on the theme of ‘Immigration’ focusing on the shifting and fluid nature of meaning and being rooted in a world overtaken by globalization. All of it comes from various scraps of newspapers and magazines that Ali gathered over the past 15 years in Singapore, ever since he arrived here in 1999.

Some of the ‘immigrations’ that plaster Ali’s canvas involve the appropriation and transformation of old into new – like the form of Rodin’s famous Thinker isolated among a host of brand names and other contemporary motifs. Ali manipulates the space and his materials to give the feeling of everything washed over by a variety of rough muddy hues with bursts of color and form here and there. This opens up existential vistas where human forms are swallowed up/intermingle with signs and symbols, struggling for a ‘voice’.

The feeling of chaotic improvisation across the works comes from the fact that many of the objects were chosen less for aesthetic reasons or harmonious composition and more for expressing the artist’s interests and internal state. These are mementos drawn up over time, with depths of experience that the viewer may glimpse into, here and there, but never fully grasp.

Ali studied at the renowned Zangar Art Institute under the tutelage of Professor Aydin Aghashlou – one of Iran’s most respected artists. He triumphed at the prestigious 4th Biennale at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran in 1997, and established himself as an artist in residence at the Opera Gallery Singapore after he moved here. You can find out more on the exhibit at Miaja Gallery’s website.

The Greatest Breakfast Food Ever.

Quick-Smoked-Salmon-Quiche-003

So the good folks over at FoodieCrush.com continuously come up with new and inventive ways to put people in a food coma and whilst searching new and inventive ways to make myself fat, I stumbled upon the Smoked Salmon Quiche.  It eats like a pizza, and tastes like a dream (if you’re any good in the kitchen)

Quick-Salmon-Quiche-005

The full recipe can be found on FoodieCrush by clicking here.  The combination of puff pastry, eggs, smoked salmon, and tabasco hot sauce (YES, there’s hot sauce in that), was amazing.  Just imagine the version we cooked over here is the same one in the photos.

Flower Nostalgia.

The days of “flower power” and “flower children” may have gone out the door a generation ago, but there will always be an intrinsic beauty to flowers and what they can, and do represent.  The visual series ‘Flower Nostalgia’ was shot by Kristina Varaksina, who hails from none of than San Francisco, the birthplace of “The Hippie Movement”.  And while her photos for Ellements Magazine, are infinitely more elegant and eye catching than your average hippie, they produce quite the bit of flower nostalgia.  Check the collection out below.

Salomondrin Goes Pokemon Hunting On The Streets Of L.A.

Salomondrin-goes-Pokemon-hunting-in-a-Porsche-918-1

I’ve always loved candid videos of people doing ridiculous things, but now that Pokemon Go is out, the videos are coming hard and fast.  Pokemon Go, as you might have heard is an augmented reality game on Android and iPhone. The game was released on July 6th and has become an overnight success. Now, there are more people playing this game than the total number of active users on Twitter.  Like the rest of the world, Salomondrin has caught the Pokemon Go bug too. So, he went Pokemon hunting in his Porsche 918 supercar.

Toasted Pets?

Every once in a  while, you see promotional artwork that catches your eye, but the item or object the promotion is for escapes you.  Brosmind out of Barcelona, Spain, have designed the “Toasted Pets” series.  “The cutest way to keep your favorite things” is the tagline, but I’m still not exactly sure what they are.  Upon discovering the promotional video below, I was even more perplexed as to why a Spanish company would create their ad in broken English using a think Japanese accent, but HEY, normal is boring.  Made in aluminum, leather, wood and plastic, the first exclusive edition of 50 copies. Price: €130. Samuel L. Jackson Caught Me Up On GoT!

Samuel-L-Jackson-Bedtime

Amongst my very close friends, it’s a running joke that I lie about watching the HBO hit series ‘Game Of Thrones’. If the world MUST know, I intend of waiting for the series to end, so I don’t have to wait between seasons, and I can binge watch them all when I travel.  But whenever people ask me if I watch, I just say yes, and I have knowledge of some memorable events enough to make it appear as if I’m up to speed.  A good recap of the entire show would work wonders for me, but I could never find a good one… until this morning.  My second favorite Samuel, (the L. Jackson one) did the greatest recap of the show GoT that will ever be created.  If you’re new to GoT, this is the one for you, if you’re fluent in the show, you can just enjoy the way he describes critical events in the show.  But there is nothing better this year than hearing Sam L. Jackson wrap up seasons 1 through 6 of one of televisions best shows.  Check the method.

Fergie – M.I.L.F. $

Fergie debuted the video for her latest single “M.I.L.F.$.” on Friday, featuring Kim Kardashian West, Chrissy Teigen, Ciara and other hot celebrity moms. And like most stars, it didn’t take long for behind-the-scenes clips to start popping up on social media.  The video, which Fergie tells Entertainment Weekly in a statement is “about empowering women who do it all,” actually comes with a baked-in digital spin, as the acronym stands for “Moms I’d Like to Follow.”

“They have a career, a family, and still find the time to take care of themselves and feel sexy,” Fergie told EW.  Check the video out below.
