If Robots Ruled The World…

Click the pic to see more.

It’s not a widely known fact that before I used to sit behind the DJ booth at clubs, I used to sit in a classroom in the Bay Area learning digital animation.  3D animation was my fall plan incase the DJ game didn’t pay the bills, so when I saw 100 digital renders from the best 3D animators from all over the world, I was thoroughly impressed.  Another little tid-bit most people may not know is that when I’m not at work, in the studio, or in a meeting discussing a new project… I’m off somewhere being a nerd.  (I know being a black nerd was illegal until like 2003, but its not my fault, I was born like this).  So when I discovered the displays were ALL robot-related works, I was fascinated.  I hope your just as impressed as I was.

Electric Boogaloo

I am a firm believer in the saying practice makes perfect.  I take about 1 to 2 hours every day to mix, scratch, and cut all different types of music.  Occasionally I’ll record my sessions in an attempt to fix my mistakes, and once in a while I’ll do something off the top of my head that I’m very happy with.  This 8 minute take of a mixing session already debuted on a few weeks ago, but due to an overwhelming demand for a download link, I’m putting up on the blog.  So here for your enjoyment, “Electro”.

B.O.B. and Lupe Fiasco have teamed up to bring you the track “Past My Shades”.  The track is composed of live music mixed with a few digital elements, and is complimented by ‘Bobby Ray’s’ mellifluous singing, and Lupe’s keen lyrics.  A for sure must listen, click the pic to download.

Past-Future Cars

We are wondering why it is that car manufacturers are tripping over each other inventing boring and redundant “super modern” and “high design” cars, when the end result is a sea of lookalikes. One can no longer recognize a “premium” make from a lower-end car, certainly not by distinctive and recognizable design features.  They are unimaginative, uninspiring and suffer from a serious case of follow-itis. As opposed to being leaders and, in particular, design leaders. We see design tweaks and add-on features advertised as if they were a revolution when in fact, there’s nothing really significantly new or exciting. No wonder so many are giving up cars altogether. Why not bring it back to the golden age?

Who Said Cassettes Were Useless?

Russian artist Erika Iris Simmons has used various methods to construct masterful works of art out of useless mediums.  The results are pretty ridiculous.  I wish I could tell you more about her inspirations for these amazing art pieces… But I can’t read Russian.  Click the pic to see more.

Eminem Says: No More Relapse 2

Here’s the explanation from Em himself:
“I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year. But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.”

The scheduled date for “Recovery” is June 22nd.

Bet I Bust.

Recently rapper T.I. has been slowly moving back onto the hip hop scene after his incarceration with guest appearances, and features.  But after a video of him recording the new track “Bet I Bust” surfaced on the internet, even the most timid listener could see that Tip Harris was back on his grind.  With this ‘One-take-Jake’ style delivery, and a mirrored image of Harris recording his ad-libs simultaneously, this simple video shows a man on a mission to regain his spot on the throne of hardest working rappers in the game.

Drake’s Over Video

Its Downright Childish.

The artwork of children is fascinating on many levels. however their uninhibited imagination is
not always very true to reality. so when Korean artist Yeondoo Jung set out to turn the drawing’s
of 5-7 year old children into reality, some interesting environments were sure to arise.  After he
collected over 1,000 drawings, a select few were selected and turned into reality through a
series of photo shoots titled ‘wonderland’.  The results are just as fascinating as the original

And You Thought YOUR College Dorm Was Wild.

Hanging Tent

This is one of the many Taliesin structures, from the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture.  A writer for the New York Times called the student-designed and built structures at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture perhaps “the hippest dormitory in the world.” The “shelters,” as they are called, dot the natural landscape surrounding the campuses, and are offered to students as options for living while attending school.

This Ain’t Beyonce’s Halo.

The movie version of Halo has almost happened before — Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp could tell you all about that, but so far said project just hasn’t panned out. Still, Frank O’Connor, the Master Chief of the Halo world, says the film will happen. Eventually.

“We’re going to make a movie when the time is right,” he said. “We own the IP. If we want to make a movie, the scale of all the other stuff that we do changes dramatically. We make tens and tens of millions of dollars on ancillary stuff, toys, apparel, music and publishing. If we do a movie all of that will grow exponentially. We have some numbers if we do a movie, but it changes everything. It also changes our target and age demographic.”

As If Normal Bugs Weren’t Bad Enough

There are not too many horror movies that get my nerves all worked up, but I managed to find one that really got me going.  Feast your eyes on “The Human Centipede”.

Click to watch the trailer.

“During a stopover in Germany in the middle of a carefree road trip through Europe, two American girls find themselves alone at night when their car breaks down in the woods. Searching for help at a nearby villa, they are wooed into the clutches of a deranged retired surgeon who explains his mad scientific vision to his captives’ utter horror. They are to be the subjects of his sick lifetime fantasy: to be the first to connect people, one to the next, via their gastric system, and in doing so bring to life “the human centipede.”

As many may know, I do go by the nickanme Tony Stark, or Young Stark, but this collab has nothing to do with me.  Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz have come together to create the track “Ironman”.  Above is a video preview of the track featuring some clips from the up and coming movie Ironman 2.  It hassn’t be stated yet weather the song will make the soundtrack, but listen for yourself.  It sounds like it’ll be as popular as the movie.

Hungry for more… Grab a Snookers

For all of those who were disgusted, appauled, and still totally obsessed with Jersey Shore (like my older sister), you now have something new to look forward to.  The second season of Jersey Shore premieres on July 29th for 12 episodes.  The season is reported to start out in Miami, and mid-way, return to the great state of New Jersey.  (The change is necessary, because the temperature in Jersey won’t support tourism until mid to late June)

The Airbus A380 is among the largest manmade objects in the sky.  With ridiculous amenities, it’s an aircraft that stands for a class of superiority that few people ever hope to reach.  Each row has only 4 seats, passengers are given chair stickers so that the air steward would know what to do in case you fall asleep, and the seat can be transformed into a nearly-horizontal 190-cm long bed.  In front of each passenger there is a 17-inch touch screen, electric plug, 2 USB ports (for USB-charging or viewing photos) and a remote-control combined with a satellite phone, furthermore, each seat has it’s own wireless control device regulating the backrest angle, lighting level and massage-modes of the chair.  Several external video-cameras are available for viewing, and the back section of the plane accommodates a bar with free drinks and snacks.  Five toilets are located on the second floor and ten are on the first and, there are two shower-rooms for first-class passengers. Albeit you must book them one hour in advanced before usage and water is available for only 5 minutes.  First-class passengers have their own bar with better drinks (but no bartender for some reason.)  A grand staircase is located near the showers. It leads to the first floor where the economy class passengers and the pilots are seated, and in the center of the cabin two rooms are dedicated for the crew to rest. Up to 9 persons can sleep here simultaneously.  To see even MORE stats and pictures of this awesome feat of flight, click any of the pictures below.  Hopefully the next model has a DJ Storm logo painted on the outside.

Alesha Dixon

Alesha Dixon

Alesha Dixon

Dixon is one of seven children born to an English mother and Jamaican father. She has five half brothers and one half sister. She was educated at Monks Walk school, Welwyn Garden City, Herts and had planned to become a PE teacher after leaving college. After completing a diploma course, she had planned to take up a place at Loughborough University when she was approached on a train by a record producer, who asked her if she could sing, and on the way back home she was approached again by someone who asked if she was in a band. She then decided to put her degree on hold.

Her career began in 1999 when she met Sabrina Washington when they both joined Dance Attic (a popular hip-hop/jazz dance academy in West London), and together they formed a duo and recorded a demo titled Inspiration. During an audition, they met with Su-Elise Nash, and then together they formed a trio. They were soon signed to Telstar Records with the addition of a new member, Zena McNally, and became the popular UK garage / R&B girl band, Mis-Teeq.

Science x Photography

Caleb Charland is a Maine-based photographer who combines a love of scientific experiments and photographs into wonderful and amazing photographs. If Isaac Newton or Benjamin Franklin were into photography, their photographs might look something like these:

Candle in Vortex of Water

In regards to his work, Charland has stated: “Wonder is a state of mind somewhere between knowledge and uncertainty. It is the basis of my practice and results in images that are simultaneously familiar and strange. I utilize everyday objects and fundamental forces to illustrate experiences of wonder. Each photograph begins with a simple question “How would this look? Is that possible? What would happen if…?” and develops through a sculptural process of experimentation. As I explore the garage and search through the basement to solve these pictures, I find ways to exploit the mysterious qualities of these everyday objects and familiar materials.”
