1:1 Scale Model of a 1959 Aston Martin.

Take a look at the real work of art. It’s a model of the Aston Martin DBR1/2 that Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori drove to a Le Mans win in 1959. Produced by Evanta Motor Company it’s a 1:1 scale model on a parts tree – as in a life-sized, 20.8-feet long and 11.3-feet high, weighing between 1,100 and 1,320 pounds. Totally handmade in the style of an AirFix kit, the entire DBR1 bodyshell is included, as well as bits such as accurately upholstered seats, four 16-inch wire wheels with Aston Martin knock-offs, a Mota Lita steering wheel and a cap signed by Shelby and Salvadori. Each part is labeled and has an AirFix-like guide number attached as if you were were really going to pore over the instruction sheet for assembly.

Mansory Carbonado Lamborghini Aventador‎.

Mansory’s Motors.

Did you know that the boys and girls at work in Gaydon, Maranello and Stuttgart are all a bunch of slackers?* They are all designing half-arsed cars that aren’t quite special enough. You know the ones, those ugly Aston Martin DBS’, Mercedes SLS’ and Ferrari 458s. Luckily there is one man, a saviour, a pioneer of taste and design single-handedly saving the motoring world. That man is Kourosh Mansory.

Mr Mansory takes some of the most elegant designs of the motoring world and masks his interpretation of beauty over them by vomiting body kits onto them, splurging carbon fibre everywhere and defecating bits of gold trim around the edges. Mansory describe his work as ‘dynamically striking’, ‘extravagant’ and ‘noble’.

New BMW i8 Concept SPYDER.

BMW has unveiled their i8 Concept Spyder. It’s absolutely incredible. They say the i8 represents a vision of the future where intelligent thinking, advanced materials and innovative construction techniques fuse together to create a high performance roadster that is outstandingly efficient and environmentally aware. It possesses, they claim, the performance of a sports car with the consumption of a city car. It doesn’t look too shabby either. Strictly a two-seater it boasts on-board equipment including a pair of electric scooters, housed under a transparent tailgate. It makes 406 ft of torque, which pushes it from 0-62 mph in 5.0 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. Plus it can do 20 miles of 4-wheel-drive on the battery alone.

Kinetic Sculpture from BMW

Company BMW in conjunction with the design studio ART+COM decided to expand our understanding of “sculpture” and presented to the audience something unbelievable – “Kinetic Sculpture” created from numerous small metal balls floating in the air and grouping into various forms. It consists of exactly 714 metal spheres connected with a thin steel wires. Each wire in its turn is connected with an individual motor, which causes the ball in motion. Wires holding the ball are almost invisible, and it seems that spheres are floating in the air by themselves! Eyewitnesses say that’s unforgettable spectacle. Initially balls move randomly, and then begin to group into forms in which can be guessed shapes of BMW cars of various years: BMW 327, BMW 1500, BMW Z4 coupe concept and Mille Miglia.

The Audi Spectacle.

Audi, a brand exuding an attitude of self confidence and progressive thinking, and associated with the latest technology and innovative design, is a perfect brand to pioneer this entirely original ACCESS/TCH concept, a new breed of “billboard.”  It’s a display of four life-size Audi cars, suspended inside the silver rings of a massive Audi symbol attached to an iconic bridge structure or in front of landmark spaces — the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, Tower Bridge, Venice.

The rings rotate around, light-up at night, and move up and down the bridge. Against the backdrop of spectacular urban architecture, the Audi installation reflects Audi’s continuous challenging of the status quo, its capacity to innovate, and its ability to avoid the bland and the ordinary.  But what will create valuable media attention and social media buzz is not just the actual final display, but the entire anticipation, the process of creation, the engineering feat of the installation and the spectacular launch event.

The manufacturing and transportation of the gigantic rings, the installation of the rings, the hoisting of the vehicles, the first test of the lights, the rehearsals of the launch…  By the time the installation is complete, and the unveiling event is about to start, the news about it will have reached those in the know.

PR — locally and globally — plus participation and rallies by dealers, and other in-town and on-site activities and happenings leading up to the unveiling, will add to the echo effect of this one-of-a-kind promotion.  The anticipation, excitement and buzz will culminate in an epic night-time launch event that we envision including a live symphony orchestra playing on a barge right under the suspended rings or on the bridge itself, a fireworks presentation or a LED light show above the bridge, and the ultimate unveiling of the rings.

The Audi Shark.

2009 World Auto Design Contest Winner; The “Audi Shark”.  Shark would have been the perfect car of the future. That’s why Shark has been designed in the future of technology without leaving today’s conditions.  Shark shows difference from today’s cars in terms of its own design and technology. It carries the qualifications of today’s technology and at the same time it takes the attention about its structure of plane and motorcycle like details.

Speed which all sports cars have quite affects the design of Shark. This effect is seen first on auto’s outside part. Shark has no vehicle unlike other classical cars. While this qualification increases the quality of drive, speed and control, it diminishes the risk of accident on the road. With Shark people can feel the flying, excitement and comfort. Outside the car what attracts people is the system of paddles. These paddles are designed by the effect of a shark and it provides the car to speed up with a balance and control and complete the concept of the car.

Shark’s fore and back head lights are designed like big cylinder to fit the design of Audi. The last difference of Shark is seen with the design of seats. These seats that are like motorcycle seat and thought for maximum comfort of the drivers. Shark’s out design details and the design of the seats satisfy the driver who like speed.  Can be seen as the car of the future with its own technology and different details. That’ s why Shark is a auto which reflects both today and future.

Martin Scorsese Set To Direct A Film About Rolls Royce.

Academy Award winning director Martin Scorsese has announced he will produce Silver Ghost, a film that chronicles the lives of the names behind the formation of Rolls-Royce.  Silver Ghost will tell the story of motoring pioneer Lord John Douglas-Scott Montagu, his wife Cis and his secret love affair with his secretary and mistress, Eleanor Velasco Thornton.  It also will detail Montagu’s connection and friendships with Rolls-Royce founders Charles Rolls and Henry Royce and British artist and sculptor Charles Sykes.  Thornton was the inspiration for the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, designed by Sykes, that to this day adorns all Rolls-Royce cars.  “When I read the story of ‘Silver Ghost’, I was mesmerised,” Scorsese said. “I immediately thought this is a picture that has to be made. I didn’t hesitate for a moment.”  The script has been penned by Kiera Knightley’s mum, Sharman Macdonald and Christian Bale is rumored to be in line to take a starring role in the film as Lord Montagu.

Nissan To Produce ‘Fastest Crossover On The Planet’.

Japanese car brand Nissan announced Friday that it will start limited production of its ambitious Juke R model.  Combining the design of the Juke SUV with the power of a GT-R, the Juke-R is claimed to be the fastest crossover on the planet. Its 3.8-liter engine boasts 545 hp, enabling top speeds of 257km/h (152mph).  The limited edition uses the chassis, suspension and wheels of the Nissan GT-R 2012. The new version of the Juke-R exceeds the power of the prototype that was presented in Malaga, Spain in October 2011.  Thanks to its bump in power, the Nissan Juke R favorably compares to the likes of the Porsche Carrera Turbo S (530hp) and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (571hp).  To promote the Juke R, Nissan has released an internet video titled “Desert Nemesis,” in which the model races some of the fastest supercars in the world.  The Juke R will be built on demand, and Nissan is still keeping its retail price a secret. The first models will be delivered towards the end of the summer.

The People’s Car Project.

The Volkswagen hover car is a product of the “People’s Car Project” in China, which called upon customers to contribute design ideas for VW’s model of the future.  The crowd-sourcing initiative debuted in China last year and, to date, has inspired 33 million website visitors to submit 119,000 ideas.  The hovercraft uses electromagnetic levitation to float along its own grid above the regular road network; distance sensors keep the craft from colliding with other vehicles.

The disc-shaped pod seats two people and is controlled by a joystick that offers amazing maneuverability. The car can move both back-and-forth and side-to-side and can even spin on an axis.  Automated safety features monitor the Hover Car’s surroundings and can take control if a potential accident is detected. The concept car produces zero emissions.

Italy Launches Ferrari Style High-Speed Train.

Italy’s first private high-speed train, launched by Ferrari head Luca di Montezemolo’s company NTV and boasting sleek interiors and a cinema carriage, made its inaugural journey on Friday.  The dark-red 200-meter (656 foot) bullet-shaped train — named “Italo” — set out from Rome’s Termini station, taking just over an hour to reach Naples.  “Italo has arrived, the competition has kicked off… bringing real advantages to all those who travel,” NTV told its first passengers as they admired interiors styled by celebrated design house Italdesign Giugiaro.  The trains have gold edging, panoramic windows, leather seats and wider carriages than the classic French TGV trains. They offer three different coach classes and travel at a top speed of 360 kilometers (224 miles) per hour.

France’s national rail company SNCF owns a 20-percent stake in NTV, which is led by a group of Italian businessmen including Montezemolo, NTV’s president, and Diego Della Valle, the head of luxury shoemaker Tod’s.  The company hopes to take a bite out of the national state rail network’s market and gain an advantage with a pricing system where passengers can get cut-price tickets by booking early or traveling at off-peak times.  “All our employees speak English as well as Italian, and each station we transit through will have an ‘Italo House’ for passengers wanting information or a rest,” Giuseppe Bonollo, NTV commercial director, told AFP.

The Lambo S.U.V.?

The least-kept secret of the Beijing Motor Show spilled out today with the leak of these renderings showing Lamborghini’s proposed new sport utility vehicle. Dubbed the Urus, the concept SUV would be Lamborghini’s bid to cash in on the booming global market for high-end luxury SUVs — if customers can accept the strange blend of supercar angles and racing tires on a high-riding hatchback.

While Lamborghini has flourished with new models under its ownership by Volkswagen, profits have remained elusive. With Porsche thriving thanks to its Cayenne SUV, other automakers now wonder just how big the market for people movers with some off-road capability might be; BMW keeps adding to its already full range of luxury SUVs, while Lamborghini stablemate Bentley’s idea of the EXP 9F concept shows the dangers inherent in the concept. Lamborghini execs have said they have yet to win approval to build it — but given demand for big vehicles in China and the Middle East, that seems like a formality ahead of a 2017 arrival.

Unlike Bentley, Lamborghini has a history with trucks; the LM002 SUV set the mold that the Hummer H2 would attempt to fill two decades later. The Urus — named for the ancestor of modern bulls in Spain — looks nothing like the LM002, drawing its styling from what a four-door Aventador might look like and its underpinnings from either the Cayenne or corporate cousin Audi. Many details such as specific engine choices remain under embargo; we’ll have the full story on the Urus this weekend, but until then you can debate whether a Lamborghini SUV stands as a savvy move or just a lot of bull.
