Its Better To Know Whats Coming Next.

WARNING: This Video Is Not For The Arachnophobic.

It’s very true that commercials now a days have become increasingly random.  The more ridiculous a commercial is, the more memorable, and the more likely anyone is to go to a friend and say “Have you seen the ___________ commercial with the green monkeys and the red-headded chick with the dildo made out of uranium?!”  (Sorry if that was graphic, I’m just making sh*t up).  But I came across an equally shocking commercial today during a break from school while chilling with Duckworth of Tokyo 24.  The ad is for Mentos, and is a very far departure from “The Fresh Maker”.  Check the hilarious video below, and please do not forget, this video is not for the arachnophobic.

Scarlett Johansson x Moet & Chandon

This one’s for you Jeff… It seems Moet & Chandon Champagne has unveiled their new campaign featuring Scarlett Johansson, who has been the brand’s celebrity ambassador since March 2009.  For the 2011 Moët & Chandon Ad Campaign, British photographer Tim Walker photographed Johansson at Trianon in Epernay, North East of Paris last Fall.  Wearing a strapless pearl blue/grey dress, Scarlett is surrounded by castles of empty wine glasses as she poses on a ladder.  “Moët & Chandon, the most loved champagne since 1743, is a universal symbol of joie de vivre and success.  This campaign highlights a return to the immutable elegance and glamour that are inherent to both Moët and Scarlett” said Moët & Chandon CEO Daniel Lalonde.

A 360 Degree Home?

It sounds like something Soulja Boy would rap about in a song, but believe it or not, its true.  This stunning architectural piece called the 360 House in Madrid, Spain eschews standard conformity by looping in on itself. The roof is at once protective and accessible as a walkway. Of course this means that almost no wall inside is flat but I suspect interior designers are up for a new challenge nowadays. Congrats to Andrés Silanes, Fernando Valderrama and Carlos Bañón.  Want to give us a tour Subarquitectura?

Snoop Dogg ft. Wiz Khalifa – That Good (Official Video)

On the way to my campus, I got a first look at the video for Snoop and Wiz’s video for ‘That Good’.  I’ve always loved the song, and was impressed by the music video, so I had to throw it up.  Before the video though, I also ran into some folks on the train that asked me why I hadn’t blogged in an alarming two days, lol.  I just want to make it clear to all my readers, that I try to post 5 or 6 times a day, but at the end of the day, I’m still just a college student as busy as everyone else, so my apologies if every so often I go a day or two without posting.  But moving right along, check the video for “That Good” below.

MB&F Reveals The HM2 ‘Final Editions’ Watch.

What do you get when you mix dope design in watch making, with a what looks like a see-through plastic briefcase?  The HM2.  First launched in 2008, Horological Machine No2 revolutionized the world of haute horlogerie with its distinctive rectangular shape, flying buttresses, dual portholes and modular construction.  The crystal-clear sapphire case of HM2-SV then took the revolution even further by offering unprecedented visual access into the meticulously hand-finished, 349-component engine powering the indications on HM2′s iconic twin dials.  But all good things come to an end and, after three very successful years, Horological Machine No2 takes one last bow on center stage with two final limited editions.  The HM2-Black SV and the HM2-Red SV – both featuring sapphire cases – will close the HM2 collection, thus ensuring its exclusivity.  While both new final models are derived from the original HM2-SV, each has its own very distinctive identity.  HM2-Black SV features a sapphire case, black dials and a black PVD titanium baseplate that makes a strongly contrasting backdrop for the unique architecture of the HM2 Engine inside, which is framed by an electric green rubber gasket clearly visible through the transparent top.  Turning the watch over reveals yet another splash of colour from the vivid green 22K gold winding rotor.  HM2-Red SV has its sapphire case black dials mounted on a regal red gold baseplate. The black dials, black rubber gasket and the rich red of the caseback provide a stunning juxtaposition with HM2′s silver Engine.  Turning the watch over rewards the viewer with the sight of MB&F’s signature 22K red gold battle-axe rotor complimenting the red gold of the caseback.  Only 18 pieces of the HM2 Black SV and another 18 pieces of the Red SV will be produced, with each costing $98,000.

Going In For Life.

For years I’ve wanted to spin a birthday party for any of my best friends.  (Unfortunately, we all tend be knee-deep in some business venture that requires us to remain sober on our birthdays.)  This year however, Reginald Sylvester broke the tradition, and decided to have his birthday celebration over at Otis in downtown San Francisco along with Ryan Jones, Lisa Gomez, and Fatima Olowo.  So if your in the area, come by and party with us, the Above Ground promotional team, DJ King Most, and the Otis staff.

Throwback Video: Busta Rhymes – Gimmie Some More.

I don’t specifically remember the first time I ever saw this video. I do however remember wondering if famous people really had cigars that were super huge. Since then, this video has become a classic in my book, for its insane visuals, the over-the-top fisheye lenses, and Bussa Buss doing his thing in the classic fashion that made him famous.

Spray On Clothes.

I’ve seen the clothes melt off of a woman or two in my day, but I’ve never seen anyone spray their clothes ON.  When I came across this interesting piece of technology, I was a bit perplexed until I saw the video that explained all the details.  The video showcases the spray on clothing technology created in the Imperial College of London. The inventor states it has possibilities for fashion and for spray on bandages. The material can be taken off, washed and re used or even dissolved to create more spray on clothes. Looks like the spray doesn’t suffer the same problems as other contact sprays, since in FX departments the spray which hardens into plastic needs breathing gear or the users lungs will become plastic causing instant death.  Luckily this new type of spray on clothing isn’t deadly… And looks almost like the new Spider-Man outfit, which is pretty dope.

Underneath The Internet Umbrella.

As soon as I saw the first picture of this unique umbrella, I knew my boy Devan would get a kick out it. The Pileus is an umbrella connected to the Internet to make walking in rainy days fun. Pileus has a large screen on the top surface, a built-in camera, a motion sensor, GPS, and a digital compass. The current prototype has two main functions: photo-sharing and 3D map navigation. The photo function is connected to a major web service: Flickr API. A user can take photo with a camera on the umbrella, and pictures are uploaded to Flickr in two minutes with context tags via a wireless Internet connection. User can also enjoy theirselves watching photo-streams downloaded from Flickr with simple operation of wrist snapping.

It also has a function of 3D Map. Detecting a location data from GPS, it shows a 3D bird view around the user. User can walk-through a city comparing the 3D views and real sights, and the map is always updated by GPS and a digital compass. It aims to create natural augmented reality with a large informatin screen on the umbrella.  These two functions can be switched by simply fliping a switch. As a future direction of its development, putting a context data on the Internet (e.g. geo-tags on photos), it will be able to provide social local-navigations and real-time in-place communications. The product aims to provide an augmentation of everyday life synchronizing information on the Internet and the real place. Just don’t walk around without looking where your going.

Joe Buddens Speaks On His New Shady Records Deal.

Yesterday I posted up some exciting news about Yelawolf and Slaughter House getting signed to a Shady Records, but all the information I was able to gather centered mainly around Yelawolf and his reaction to the new deal. Today however, I came across a video of Joe Buddens, (the big dog in Slaughter House) and his thoughts on the deal. Check the video below to hear what he had to say about Eminem, Shady Records, and the news that went public a few days ago.

20 Ingenius Simplistic Packaging Designs.

Packaging is much more of an essential part of product marketing than many people realize. Its very true that there’s a nerd like myself somewhere scientifically working out what shapes and colors attract different ages, genders, and types of people. Packaging design has taken many different turns as time has gone by, but recently the designs catching my eye the most are the more simplistic packages with clean and clear graphic design incorporated into the final product. I found 20 examples of some good ones, check the method below.

5 Strong Ent.

Now its no secret that its my job to make a good party, and I don’t normally shout other DJ’s but the crew over at 5 strong is quite praiseworthy. (If you couldn’t tell by the video above… they go hard). 5 Strong consists of 5 DJs, all with differing styles on the wheels of steel. 5 Strong is responsible for some of the hottest parties in New York City and New Jersey and works with artists like Rob Scott. But if your not in the tri-state area, fear not. They also have guest spots in Atlanta, Miami, and L.A. The team is sponsored by www.whatisbez.com andwww.izthatme.com. I had the distinct pleasure of rockin’ with DJ Rob Ru of 5 Strong this past new years eve in New York City, and we’re planning nothing but madness for 2011.

Jennifer “Jaye” Santi

I’ve seen millions of girls, and thousands of models, but one thing that seems to be a rare asset is un-tampered beauty. When a woman can be totally natural and remain just as stunning its something to be noted, and Jaye Santi definitely fits that description. Jennifer Santiago was born in Chicago and has since relocated to Los Angeles. Aside from her modeling career, she has an AA in criminal justice and intends on joining the police force. (Hello Mrs. officer) Jaye says she enjoys the wilder side of life, and has even taken up boxing. The Latin model says she has a talent for cooking, and is currently working on a sneaker deal as well. With her many talents and incredible looks there’s no doubt that one of her various business ventures will one day make her a household name.

Hanscanyon Faucet

This ambient lit faucet caught my eye when I was doing some furnature shopping for my place, and has been on my mind ever since. It appears to be a rectangular faucet, but remove the top of a spigot, and the new shape creates a small-scale canyon, add backlighting and you’ve got ambient water fittings.  Germany’s Hansa is responsible for the Hansacanyon, and added LEDs that change color as a function of water temperature so you can see when it’s hot or cold.  Also included is precise temperature control, and it can be fitted for sinks, baths and showers.  Its also got some sick matching accessories.

The New Spiderman.

Behold. The newest Spider-Man is here in all his dark, mysterious, side-lit glory.  Here’s the first official shot from director Marc Webb’s upcoming revamp starring Andrew Garfield. And it looks like our friendly neighborhood webslinger has had a bad day.  Not only does he appear to have been battered around—maybe by a lizard tail?—but he’s bummed enough to go strolling down the street without his mask on. True, it’s New York City, where people might not give a guy in a skintight bodysuit a second glance, but why take the chance?  Still, our fave part about this pic is the backpack. For all his power, you can’t forget Peter Parker is still a high school student. Yes, he might save the world, but he still has to get his homework done.  No one ever said being super was easy.

Scott Campbell’s Skateboard.

Scott Campbell the tattoo artist is definitely all talent.  I had put some of the work he did with dollar bills up a few months ago. I had heard about his work on skateboards, but never saw an example until today.  This, just like most of his tattoos are pieces you kind of have to see in person to fully absorb the dopeness.  But check the method below.

Gucci Mane’s Ice Cream Tattoo.

So the internet has been a-buzz with searches for pictures of Gucci’s new tattoo, I’ve got it, but lets start from the beginning… Less than six months after his release from prison, Gucci Mane checked himself into a rehab facility for an addiction to cocaine.  According to Ozone Magazine, members of the rapper’s entourage were involved in an hour-long stand-off against Gucci outside the Riverwoods Southern Regional Psychiatric Center in Riverdale, GA in October of last year. The group, which included his manager and lawyer, begged him to enter the facility for treatment, apparently interrupting a Narcotics Anonymous class that was taking place at the time of his arrival.  After coaxing from his lawyer, who convinced the ‘So Wasted’ rapper that failing to get help for his drug addiction could land him right back behind bars, the 30-year-old turned himself in for 28-day treatment. The facility, which specializes in alcohol and substance abuse released Gucci Mane a few days ago, but it looks like they released him too soon.  Check out the ice cream tattoo he got from Tenth Street Tattoo in Atlanta.

Vertu Ascent Ferrari GT

The British cell phone manufacturer Vertu has once again partnered with Ferrari to release the Ascent Ferrari GT handset.  Inspired by the equally high-end Italian cars, the Vertu Ascent Ferrari GT has a body made made forged titanium with a matte black PVD finish.  The black and red hand-sewn leather ornaments use the exact same leather as the Ferrari interiors.  The list of design highlights continues with a ceramic battery cover and a side inspired by the famous Ferrari engine grill.  The handset comes with a rather small 2-inch QVGA display with 16 million colors, which is protected by sapphire crystal glass.  It boasts a 5-megapixel camera with integrated LED flash and video recording capabilities, as well as high-performance dual hands-free loudspeaker.  Vertu will only create two thousand and eleven phones Ascent Ferrari GT units, but has so far not revealed their prices.

Yelawolf & Slaughterhouse sign to Shady Records.

XXL Cover featuring Shady and Crew.

Great news for Hip-Hop fans, Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse have signed with Eminem’s Shady Records.  “Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse, it’s kinda phase two of Shady,” says Eminem. “It’s the new generation of Shady Records and as we’re trying to rebuild our label, it’s exciting for hip-hop and with all of these forces coming together and with what everybody’s capable of on the mic, it’s gonna be fun.”  Yelawolf, who was already signed to Interscope, reacted to the new deal,“considering where I’m from and the shit I’ve been through, it’s hard to put into words what partnering with Shady means to me, my team at Ghet-O-Vision, and my state of Alabama. I can tell you that when you’re willing to give your life up to see a dream through, the reward is great. And now that I’ve become an apprentice to one of the greatest artists in the world, my potential reaches beyond anything I ever imagined. Let’s kill this sh*t.”

IT’S SHADY 2.0: EMINEM ANNOUNCES THE SIGNINGS OF YELAWOLF AND SLAUGHTERHOUSE TO SHADY RECORDS ROSTER

SLAUGHTERHOUSE JOINS SHADY RECORDS & INTERSCOPE RECORDS, YELAWOLF ADDS SHADY RECORDS TO THE TEAM

Complete Story Told Exclusively In The March 2011 XXL Magazine On Stands Nationally February 8th

SANTA MONICA, CA – January 12, 2011 – Rap supergroup Slaughterhouse and budding superstar Yelawolf have been signed to Eminem’s Shady Records it was announced today.

“Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse, it’s kinda phase two of Shady,” says Eminem. “It’s the new generation of Shady Records and as we’re trying to rebuild our label, it’s exciting for hip-hop and with all of these forces coming together and with what everybody’s capable of on the mic, it’s gonna be fun.”

Bringing together the East Coast, West Coast and Detroit in the middle, Slaughterhouse consists of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9”. Most recently, Slaughterhouse was featured on “Session One,” a bonus track on Eminem’s 2010 blockbuster Recovery album. Eminem is expected to be personally involved in Slaughterhouse’s sophomore album scheduled for release in 2011.

Said Royce Da 5′9″: “It’s very exciting for me to reunite with Eminem years after our Bad Meets Evil project together. Slaughterhouse on Shady Records will be a force to reckon with.”

Late last year, Yelawolf released Trunk Muzik 0-60, a compilation of select tracks from his critically acclaimed 2010 mixtape Trunk Muzik, along with six previously unavailable songs. The Alabama native is currently in the studio recording his full length major label debut.

Said Yelawolf: “Considering where I’m from and the shit I’ve been through, it’s hard to put into words what partnering with Shady means to me, my team at Ghet-O-Vision, and my state of Alabama. I can tell you that when you’re willing to give your life up to see a dream through, the reward is great. And now that I’ve become an apprentice to one of the greatest artists in the world, my potential reaches beyond anything I ever imagined. Let’s kill this shit.”

Shady Records was founded in 1999 by Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg. D12, the label’s first signing, were also Shady’s first breakout stars, selling more than four million albums in the U.S. In 2002, the label released the quadruple platinum 8 Mile soundtrack, with its hit single “Lose Yourself”–the first hip-hop song to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Shady Records then partnered with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment to ink 50 Cent, who subsequently has sold more than 23 million albums worldwide. Of Shady’s 11 albums to date, four have earned U.S. multiplatinum certification, three others platinum (including the compilation Eminem Presents: The Re-Up) and two gold. The label has sold over 40 million albums worldwide.

Lichtfaktor Light Show.

Photographic tricks have always amazed me, and playing with lights in dimly lit areas always has an interesting effect.  The good folks over at Lichtfaktor have perfected this technique and use to to create a dazzling array of images and videos.  Check out some of their work.

Diary Of A Hollywood Douchebag.

Joseph Ruzer and Bobby Weiss

It seems like since the new year has started I’ve been bombarded with the works of talented individuals who specialize in all forms of media. I knew I had another good one on my hands when my good friend (and fellow party-goer) Anna Novikov sent me a video titled “Diary of a Hollywood Douchebag Presents: Your Girl Is In My Video”. The video is a brilliant cross between the SNL music videos (like ‘On A Boat’ and ‘Jizz In My Pants’) mixed with every white guy I know who was raised in South Jersey. (Sorry Bones, but its true… you DO act like that). “Your Girl Is In My Video” stars Joseph Ruzer and Bobby Weiss acting like… well… douchebags, surrounded by a flock of hot girls (including Ms. Novikov) and bragging about their conquests, with all the cleverly written lyrics set over a very dope hip hop beat. The video was brought into creation by Weiss and Ruzer, and is related to a show the duo is currently pitching to networks in L.A. named “Diary Of A Hollywood Douchebag: An Epic Saga”. Hopefully the show hits screens in 2011, because if this team can have my entire staff cracking up with a short music video, who knows what magic they’ll accomplish with an entire series. Check the method below, and to see more videos related to the “Diary Of A Hollywood Douchebag” click here. South Jersey stand up. Lol.

Carnovsky’s RGB Exhibit.

Milan-based collective Carnovsky Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla presents ‘RGB’, an exhibition which showcases a series of wallpapers that mutate and interact with different chromatic stimulus. The wall coverings consist of three different patterns (in red, yellow and blue respectively) that when overlapped, result in a disorientation of images. When colors and patterns mix up, the lines and shapes entwine becoming oneiric and not completely clear. Through a filter (a colored light or transparent material) it is possible to see clearly the layers in which the image is composed. Each one of the red, green and blue (RGB) filters serve to reveal just one of the three patterns, hiding the other two. Its super sick both in concept and in display.

C.I. Bang – TeamBackPack Audition.

Click the pic to watch the video.

Team Backpack has been doing their thing for quite some time, Their cyphers have been the center of up-and-coming emcees attention for a minute in the Bay Area.  But for whatever reason, since Duckworth hit the Team Backpack scene, my email inbox has been over run with emails about how artists can get on the Team Backpack site.  I personally am not a member of the team, but I do know that there is an audition process online that you can find out about from their site, and emcees must record an audition tape and post it up online to get recognition before they’re considered for the monthly cypher.  I’ve taken a look at all of the auditions posted up to date, and I have to say that only 2 or 3 out of 30 struck me as hype-worthy.  The best of these comes from the artist C.I. Bang, the flow is a welcome departure from the repetitious babble of other posters, and stands out (to me) as a valid entry into the Team Backpack rotation.  Check out the audition tape by clicking on the picture above, and you’ll know you’d want to see C.I. do his thing in the Team Backpack mix this month.

Stephania Bella.

I’ve put quite a few incredibly beautiful women on this site already, but I had a unique experience this morning (while writing this post) with a co-worker of mine in the studio. My good friend and colleague Andrew A. is a man of few words… I’m pretty sure his native language is silence (the world could be ending and the man wouldn’t say sh*t). But when I was gather pictures of Stephania Bella, he happened to walk past my laptop and say “DAMN SON, who the hell is that?!” (First words I’ve heard him say all year). So if Stephania Bella can make the mute speak, thats got to mean she’s a world-class beauty. Bella is of Italian and Cuban descent and originally hails from Toronto, Canada. She’s been featured in The Source, Elle Magazine, Hip Hop Weekly, and graced the covers of IB Concept Magazine, and Thique. Stephania currently stays in Brooklyn, New York and has appeared in video’s with Xzibit and Lloyd Banks as well as Big Tigga’s Flawless Kittens Calendar. With beauty like this, there’s no doubt that the sky isn’t even the limit for Stephania Bella, and I can’t wait to see more from her.

Vanishing on 7th Street: Trailer.

So, when I read the premise for the independent film “Vanishing on 7th Street”, the first thing that came to mind was the old Vin Diesel movie “Pitch Black”, which basically boils down to ‘stay in well lit areas, or thats your as$, because scary things will grab you.’    One of my other issues is the classic “I just woke up, and the world ended while I slept” opening.  Movie plots that start like that irk my nerves as much as acting makes Nicholas Cage go crazy.  (I may as well just watch ’28 Days Later’.)  But I do have to say that regardless of the other “stay in the light” themed movies, “7th Street” does take somewhat of a unique turn in terms of just what’s coming after you in the dark.  And from the looks of the trailer, there are not that many main characters to go around, so there’s not telling who will live and who will go like other terribly predictable movies.  I have my gripes, but all in all I think it’ll be good movie going experience.  Click the pic to watch the trailer.

An unexplained blackout plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, and by the time the sun rises, only a few people remain – surrounded by heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. A small handful of strangers that have survived the night (Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo and newcomer Jacob Latimore) each find their way to a rundown bar, whose gasoline-powered generator and stockpile of food and drink make it the last refuge in a deserted city. With daylight beginning to disappear completely and whispering shadows surrounding the survivors, they soon discover that the enemy is the darkness itself, and only the few remaining light sources can keep them safe. As time begins to run out for them, darkness closes in and they must face the ultimate terror.
