Supreme x Nike. 20 Of Our Favorites.

Stylish sneakers have been universal in modern culture for generations, and no one can doubt the strength of Nike. Their Jordan series has caused longer lines than fuel pumps during a fuel shortage, and more envy that someone eating an In-n-Out burger in a 3rd world country. ‘Supreme’ on the same hand, has dominated streetwear culture to the point where they sell ‘Supreme’ crow bars (thats not a joke). Below is a BRILLIANT assessment of ‘Supreme’ by Hasan Minaj on his show “Patriot Act” (which we highly recommend watching if you have Netflix). After that though, we’ll get into some of the greatest collaborations between Nike and Supreme that feet have ever been in.

So now that we know the power of ‘Supreme’ (if you watched the entire episode), its important to know what a collaborative effort with Nike would do to consumers. Non-experts in streetwear and sneaker-heads alike would have no choice but to fawn over some of the 20 sneakers in the list below. Let us know which ones YOU think are the dopest, and, if your picks aren’t on the list (curated by Complex), let us know which ones are to your highest of likings.

Supreme x Nike SB Bruin

For its 2009 collaboration with Nike SB, Supreme offered up four colorways of the Bruin. Metallic Swooshes and “World Famous” branding on the heel made the pairs stand out from the average release of the low-top skate shoe. Some color schemes were better than others, but the project doesn’t necessarily do anything wrong either. For a Supreme collab that’s a little more under the radar, this might be the one to go with.

Supreme x Nike SB Blazer

Back in 2006, Supreme released three colorways of the Nike SB Blazer with a luxurious twist. Black, red, and white options were all available that each featured premium details like quilted leather uppers, python skin Swooshes, and gold metal detailing. But the highlight has to be the Gucci-inspired, red and green-striped heel tab. Over a decade later and these still hold up perfectly. Good luck finding a pair in good condition for a fair price though.

Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low (Third Release)

What a disappointment. Supreme’s past work on the SB Dunk Low has been the stuff of legend, but this trio is FAR from that. I mean a Jewel Swoosh on a Dunk, it’s just not natural. Throw that Dallas Cowboys looking star onto the side of each pair and some wonky color blocking and what you’re left with is a mess.

Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Hi

There was a chance this sneaker would come in second on this list, but got narrowly edged out. Three colorways—orange, red, blue—all good. The stars on the side panel and the lacelocks both added to the sneaker. Loud? Sure, but it was perfect for Supreme and the era that the shoe gained life in.

Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 (Box Logo)

Whether you want to admit it or not, part of the allure of any Supreme collab has always been its limited nature. If you miss out on Thursday morning then it’s time to hit the aftermarket. That has always been the case, at least it was until 2020’s Air Force 1 drop. Initially met with some apprehension for its “lazy” design, it’s just some white and black Forces with a mini red Box Logo stamped on the lateral heel, customers warmed up to the idea once they’d been presented with all of the details. It was announced that both colorways would be sporadically replenished from season to season. Suddenly, Hanes T-shirts and boxers weren’t the only Supreme items you could re-up on. Make sure you add a fresh pair of Uptowns to the cart too.

Supreme x Nike Air Foamposite One

The Supreme x Nike Air Foamposite One makes this list mainly because of the hype around it. Personally? Could care less for the shoe. But many were surprised 1) That this shoe was real and 2) That it caused a literal riot with police cars in New York City. Most memorably, this was the sneaker that forever had in-store Supreme x Nike releases canceled.

Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 HI

This is the first sneaker to release after the Foamposite caused Nike releases to be cancelled at the brand’s Manhattan shop. The formula was simple: An Air Force 1 Hi in white, red, and black with Supreme’s branding on the strap. Easy enough. And they were pretty good. Resale is quite high at the moment, too.

Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low (Fourth Release)

Following a lukewarm offering in 2019, Supreme decided to nod to one of its most celebrated projects for its latest Nike SB collab. The result is four colorways of the SB Dunk Low that share details with its 2003 SB Dunk High release like colorful croc leather overlays and gold stars covering the quarter panel. The source material helped define an era of sneakers. The 2021 project, while nostalgic, doesn’t hit quite the same despite being one of Supreme’s better offerings in recent years. The brown option feels very appropriate given current trends, but other options like a loud slime green don’t quite hit the mark like the originals did 18 years ago.

Supreme x Nike Air Force 1

It’s hard to imagine a time when Supreme didn’t have its own Air Force 1, but it really wasn’t that long ago. The brand got its hands on the model for the first time in 2012, opting to work on the low-top variation of the sneaker. It came in gum-soled black, olive, and woodland camouflage colorways which were elevated through the use of authentic NYCO military fabric. The brand would later work on the Air Force 1 High and team with Comme des Garçons for various Air Force 1 Lows, but the OG still remains one of the best.

Supreme x Air Jordan V

In Supreme’s illustrious collaborative footwear history, the iconic skate brand has only teamed up with the Jordan Brand twice. One of those times the product came out really good, the other time it simply came out really bad. Having featured the really bad one earlier on, it’s time to focus on the positives. Available in three colorways you have the option to make a statement with the bold Desert Camo or keep it nice and simple with White or Black.

Supreme x Nike Cross Trainer Low

Supreme followed its usual rule of thumb with this one by collaborating with Nike on a silhouette that nobody would expect them to. Sometimes that formula yields surprisngly good results. This two-pack of Cross Trainer Lows is not one of those times, though. This is simply just one of those shoes that looks like it would be more at home on the shoe wall of a Finish Line in the mall than it would coming from the biggest streetwear brand in the world. Neither colorway is particularly offensive, but they don’t feel all that special either. Couple that with the much better collabs sprinkled throughout Supreme’s extensive archive of Nike projects and it lands this one in the bottom tier.

Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low (Second Release)

Elephant print on the Nike SB Dunk Low just looks good. These don’t hold a candle to the original pairs, but it was still awesome to see Supreme bring back one of the biggest projects from its archive in a new way so many years later. If you still like bright red sneakers and want to shell out a little less money for a well-executed Supreme Dunk Low collab, this is the shoe for you.

Supreme x Nike SB Gato

Nike SB has a long history of using football shoes to make skate shoes. Look at the Zoom FC. The Gato is also a shoe that saw some play over the years. Supreme did the shoe, too. It’s not bad. But I’m from the school of thought where you don’t wear football shoes unless you’re playing football. So it misses the mark.

Supreme x Comme des Garcons x Nike Air Force 1

The first Supreme x Comme des Garcons Air Force 1 wasn’t good. This shoe, with its split design, is infinitely better.

Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 Mid

Sneakers are an obvious staple of sports teams, so why not make the sports teams the focal point of the kicks?

Supreme x Comme des Garcons x Nike Air Force 1

People are going to like it because it’s a Comme des Garcons collab with Supreme on Air Force 1. What it really is: A white/white Air Force 1 with something screen printed on the side. Rushed and poor product. But the names sell it to hype fuck lords. And NBA players.

Supreme x Nike SB Air Force 2

Any time you’re starting with an Air Force 2 instead of an Air Force 1 [Ed. note: I don’t agree with him at all], you’re already behind the 8 ball. Four colorways of this AF2 hit the market in 2017 including three jarring candy-pack looking creations that left a lot to be desired. The fourth and final “Baroque Brown” pair was a bit less offensive but is still considered a brick in the Supreme x Nike department if you ask me.

Supreme x Nike SB 94

This is the only time Supreme has gotten to design its own Nike silhouette. The outcome? Not so hot.

Supreme x Nike SB Delta Force 3/4

This is one of the more slept-on Supreme x Nike releases. In fact, some could have the case that this should be ranked higher. The colorways aren’t hype, but solid. Same with the silhouette, the Delta Force SB ¾.

Supreme x Nike SB 94 (Second Release)

Although these may not be the most spectacular to round out the 20, they are some of the most unique concept kicks that Nike and Supreme have sprung.

Who You Gonna Call?

Sony Pictures has released an international trailer for “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”, and while a few shots are recycled from previous promos, this teaser comprised almost entirely of new footage. When the review embargo lifted last week, many critics took issue with how much Afterlife relied on fan-service and revisiting well-known scenarios from the original movies, and the marketing team appears to have taken this on board… by dialling the nostalgia all the way up to 11 for this new trailer. We hear an updated version of the classic theme as our young heroes chase spooks in the Ecto-1, there are several mentions of Egon (the late Harold Ramis), and the return of one of the first film’s Terror Dogs. In fact, right at the end we get a recreation of the scene in which Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) discovers one of the preternatural pooches in his closet. While this will likely prove to be divisive, we have a feeling a lot of Ghostbusters fans are going to lap it up.

‘Spiderman: Across The Spiderverse’.

With all the DC news popping off recently, us comic book fans can’t can’t ever deny that Marvel always seems to have one in the chamber.  While the constant speculation over “No Way Home” has been at a fever pitch since the first look at the first bits of the first trailer LEAKED on someone’s cell phone… (yes, people have been throwing theories like frisbees since then.) we now have something different look forward to.  One of the best reviewed Spiderman films since 2006’s ‘Spiderman 2’, “Into The Spiderverse” put us in an entirely different pair of shoes when it came to the much loved protagonist.  Instead of following Peter Parker, “Into The Spiderverse” features the newer Miles Morales version of Spiderman (among a few others).  While Morales was hinted at in ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’, he was in full force in his own film, which not has an official release window, and titles.  No one knew that the next Spiderman news to rock the internet would have NOTHING to do with the 2023 sequel “Across The Spiderverse” but we’re happy that it is. For those of you were are oblivious to the WONDER that was “Into The Spiderverse”, take a look at what ‘WIRED’ dug up on how the original was created.

Jay-Z and Kid Cudi’s Are On ‘The Harder They Fall’ Trailer.

Netflix has just debuted a new trailer and poster for upcoming Western The Harder The Fall, featuring plenty of stylized wild west action from a truly dynamite cast. The footage kicks-off with “Treacherous” Trudy Smith (Regina King), Cherokee Bill (LaKeith Stanfield), and their gang busting leader Rufus Buck (Idris Elba) out of jail, and it doesn’t look like these guys have much interest in taking prisoners. From there, we’re introduced to fellow outlaw Nat Love (Jonathan Majors), who sets off with former flame Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler), and Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) to seek vengeance against the ruthless Buck. This modern spin on the Western genre features a primarily Black cast, and hails from director and producer Jeymes Samuel, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Boaz Yakin. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, James Lassiter, and Lawrence Bender are on board as producers, and the all-star ensemble also includes Delroy Lindo, Damon Wayans Jr., Deon Cole, and Danielle Deadwyler. Check out the trailer below, which also features a tease of a new track from Jay-Z and Kid Cudi.

Rampage: World Tour: The Video Game: The Movie, With The Rock? What?

Dwayne Johnson announced that the teaser trailer for Rampage would be with us today, and as promised, you can get your first look at some footage from the upcoming video game adaptation below.  The movie will be an adaptation of the classic arcade game, which focuses on three animals (a wolf, a crocodile and a gorilla) who fall victim to evil genetic editing, rapidly changing every strand of their DNA so they grow, evolve and mutate.  Johnson’s character is charged with tracking them down, but the gorilla just so happens to be a friend of his named George.  I really want to be excited about this movie, but it just look like San Andreas mixed with the new Jumanji and a splish-splash of Negan.  But let us know what you think by leaving a comment.

Dizzee Rascal & Calvin Harris- Hype

Calvin Harris and Dizzee Rascal team up in the official music video for their brand new song “Hype“!

The 31-year-old English rapper takes on a majority of the screen time in the Emil Nava-directed clip, while the 32-year-old Scottish DJ makes quick cameos throughout.

Check the video below!

Rihanna- Needed Me

Rihanna drops yet another killer video. Still sizzling off last month’s hot and steamy “Kiss It Better” clip, RiRi gets armed and dangerous in the video for her latest Anti single, the DJ Mustard-produced “Needed Me.”

The visuals match the slapper’s strong message of independence. “Didn’t they tell you that I was a savage?” Rihanna confidently asks. “Fuck ya white horse and ya carriage.”

Meanwhile, RiRi struts in all her confident glory, draped in see-through lingerie with a gun in her hand. She slays her way through the clip, riding motorcycles through streets and making her way through a strip club where she finally comes face to face with her target before leaving him in a pool of blood.

Looks can kill in this thrilling video, showing Rihanna is not to be messed with. Watch the lethal clip below.

The First Look At ‘Rouge One: A Star Wars Story’ (Official Trailer 1).

Only two days after the digital release of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, 0ur first look at the a different corner of the Star Wars galaxy has surfaced.  The intriguing and unique ‘Star Wars Story’ of Rouge One features a look at a group of Rebel bandits, and their attempts to steal the plans for an Empire super weapon (one that you may recognize).  Staring Felicity Jones, and Forrest Whitaker, the brief but satisfying trailer paves the way for what may be an incredible story.  Check the method below.

The Technics SL-1200 Turntable Returns

turntable4

In 2010, Panasonic made the odd decision to stop producing the Technics SL-1200MK2, a turntable that’s as much a part of pop culture as it is one of the most revered and reliable ever made. DJs, who depended on the 1200’s powerful direct drive motor and solid tone arm to manipulate the sound of records without skipping, had to rely on the second hand market or alternative brands if they needed a new scratch machine.

The legendary Technics SL-1200 turntable has been a mainstay of the DJ scene for decades now, but the tanklike direct-drive turntable has also long had a quiet reputation for sound quality as well. And for the 50th anniversary of the SL-1200, Technics is releasing two new “Grand Class” models aimed at audiophiles: the aluminum-cased SL-1200G and the magnesium limited anniversary edition SL-1200GAE, of which only 1,200 will be produced. (Get it?)

Apart from the case, the new models all have new “high-dampening tonearm” and a “three-layered turntable,” which are words that audiophiles who buy a limited edition magnesium record player are sure to be excited about. There’s also a new microprocessor controlled direct-drive system which eliminates something called “cogging,” a scrouge so terrible that Technics devotes a full paragraph to it in the press release. Here is that paragraph. Behold its majesty:

Direct_Drive_Turntable_System_SL_1200GAE_7.0

Direct drive turntable systems have been beloved by HiFi enthusiasts since their birth in 1972. However, one problem that direct-drive systems have always faced was sound quality degradation caused by ‘cogging’, or tiny vibrations of the motor and rotational speed fluctuations. However, by combining the knowledge and expertise gained as the originator of direct-drive turntable systems with a newly developed coreless direct-drive motor without iron core, this ‘cogging’ can be eliminated. Any potential minute motor vibrations are suppressed even further by high-precision rotary positioning sensors guided by a microprocessor controlled system; a feature unique to the new Technics turntable.

Vinyl record sales have been booming lately, so it’s not at all surprising that Technics is capitalizing on the SL-1200′s mystique here — we’re actually expecting to see a few high-end turntables at CES 2016. No word on pricing, but expect these to be crazy expensive when the 1200GAE arrives in summer and the 1200G hits late in the year. (Also, 50 years’ worth of SL-1200s are also available on eBay and Craigslist in virtually every city in the world, if you’re that impatient.)

Those plans revolve around the next-generation BMW Z4 and a revival of the famed Toyota Supra… aka the Toyota FT1.

Batman vs. The Ninja Turtles?

bmtmnt_cv1_ds_mtv_1449253978_161777

As a child growing up in the 90’s one of my favorite cartoons/franchises/collection action figures sets/anything in the world was the ninja turtles.  Those toys and cartoons dominated the landscape in the way Jordan’s dominate urban footwear, and the Turtles still have massive nostalgic value to this day.  On the other hand, since the 90’s and the original Michael Keaton Batman film and all the subsequent films, books, and events, people all over the world have grown to become fans of the Dark Knight in droves.  Because the Turtles are technically a Mirage property, and Batman stays squarely in the clutches of DC, this crossover is one people many people never saw coming (much like the protagonists in its’ pages).  Check the synopsis below, and look out for the books in stores and online as soon as December 9th.

In Gotham City, a series of deadly raids leads Batman to believe he’s up against a group of highly trained ninjas known as the Foot Clan. Somehow, they’ve crossed over to another dimension and are determined to take advantage of the situation while looking to get back home. But they haven’t come alone: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo are hot on their trail. Get ready for excitement as heroes and villains from both worlds clash and team up in an epic battle that threatens the very fabric of reality.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Official Trailer – “For Prim”

https://i0.wp.com/nerdist.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Hunger-Games-Mockingjay-Poster-09162015.jpg

Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) didn’t step into the Hunger Games arena with the intention of changing Panem and teaching President Snow a lesson. She volunteered as tribute to take the place of her sister Prim (Willow Shields), and by doing so, she likely saved Prim’s life. Though they’re technically siblings, Katniss became Prim’s primary caretaker in the years after their father’s death. A new trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 reminds us how important the relationship between Katniss and Prim has been to the series and to Panem.

The two minutes of footage barely hints at the dark road ahead–and yes, the worst is far from over–and instead looks back, beginning with the fateful moment when Katniss stepped onto the stage in District 12. She fought tooth and nail to stay alive for Prim, and once Katniss survived her first experience in the arena, Prim was a driving force that kept her moving forward. Prim grew up, became a rock for Katniss, and pointed out what her older sister couldn’t see: Katniss had become a symbol of hope, her actions inspiring citizens across the districts.

Drake- ‘Charged Up’

drake-cover-990

Earlier this week, the rapper Meek Mill unleashed a series of tweets that sought to expose the much more famous rapper Drake as a fraud. The two had recently collaborated on the Meek Mill single “R.I.C.O.,” and Meek seemed a bit salty that Drake hadn’t promoted the tune on his social media or whatever his reason was, so he accused him of using a ghostwriter on the tune and faking his raps. Drake stayed relatively quiet about it until he released his response ‘Charged Up’ today. Check it out below!

Jidenna- Classic Man (Remix) ft. Kendrick Lamar

Jidenna heads to the West Coast in the remix video for his summer hit “Classic Man.”  Once he touched down among the palm trees, he links up with Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar.

The remixed visual features appearances from Janelle Monáe, Ty Dolla $ign, and Hit-Boy make cameos. If you’re feeling the groove, both “Classic Man” and the remix will appear on the six-track EP Wondaland Presents: The Eephus, which drops Aug. 14th. The disc will also feature Janelle Monáe and Jidenna’s hit “Yoga.”

Ciara – ‘Dance Like We’re Making Love’

https://i0.wp.com/static.idolator.com/uploads/2015/07/ciara-dance-like-were-making-love-video-teaser-sunglasses.png

Ciara turns up the heat in the steamy video for her Jackie single “Dance Like We’re Making Love,” which premiered on Sony’s Times Square billboard. The R&B chanteuse reunites with Dave Meyers, who directed her video for “Lose Control” with Missy Elliott. Ciara is fully re-embracing her sex-goddess status. In the new video for Jackie single “Dance Like We’re Making Love,” Ciara does just that, chilling seductively — yes, she can make chilling look seductive — in a pool, dancing around a beautiful mansion with her lover, and slowly shedding her clothes as she makes her way to the bedroom.

Rick Ross feat. Future “Neighborhood Drug Dealer Remix”.

Pia Mia- Do It Again feat. Chris Brown and Tyga- Official Video

Pia Mia has been making a wave or the past couple years and seems to have reached a new height with her current hit single ‘Do It Again”. The video was shot at the beach and features Chris Brown and Tyga, who also appeared on the track.

“Getting to do this record with Chris and Tyga was a very special experience for me,” Pia told Rap-Up. “They’re both artists that I love and have listened to for a long time, and getting to see how they work in the studio is inspiring to me.”

The mix of the two rappers and her strong vocals are a great combination for the track.  Tyga couldn’t help but give her a major shoutout today on his social media. “Congrats @princesspiamia on the new video#DoItAgain,” he wrote, along with a still from the video.

The Isolated J Avery.

-2When it comes to the current state of Hip Hop, it’s my firm belief that certain artists have certain lanes.  You’d be as likely to see a collaboration between Lil Boosie and Eminem as you are to see Amanda Bynes win an Oscar right now.  They’re just NOT in the same lane, and probably never will be.  That being said, there are a very elite sect of emcee’s that are capable transcending typical norms, and gaining a solid foothold in any style of music you could imagine.  J Avery, an artist who’s been on many a radar (and only getting better as the days go by) is a perfect example of an entertainer possessing this rare trait.   Super dope lyrical content combined with a mellifluous flow, are skills that are hard to come by when looking at any artist, but Avery’s ability to stand out on any track is what classifies him as a truly a-typical artist.  Check some of his latest work below.

The next project on Avery’s plate is the10 track release titled ‘Isolated’.  The project features Symba, Jay Ant, Phantom, and many others.  To get a better look at J Avery and his music, take a look at JAveryMusic.com and stay tuned for Isolated.
