Salomondrin-goes-Pokemon-hunting-in-a-Porsche-918-1

I’ve always loved candid videos of people doing ridiculous things, but now that Pokemon Go is out, the videos are coming hard and fast.  Pokemon Go, as you might have heard is an augmented reality game on Android and iPhone. The game was released on July 6th and has become an overnight success. Now, there are more people playing this game than the total number of active users on Twitter.  Like the rest of the world, Salomondrin has caught the Pokemon Go bug too. So, he went Pokemon hunting in his Porsche 918 supercar.

See The Next Progression In Future Phones.

610ad0de9aaad866078f9faf95d45747

Just like televisions and computer monitors, handset displays are about to get a huge resolution boost.  According to the latest forecast from ABI Research, a 4K screen will become a flagship smartphone feature within the next 12 months and within five years, 478 million smartphones a year will ship with a UHD display as standard. However, at the moment there is very little native 4K broadcast content available for either TV or smartphones, meaning that, for the time being, a display with a super resolution could be seen as just a marketing gimmick.

1427d95d060ef667550bf0085f51f498
Although UHD displays aren’t expected to arrive until next year, the ability to use a smartphone to create 4K content is already here.  The latest Samsung and LG flagship handsets both record video in 4K and as such join a growing list of UHD devices, such as the GoPro action cam.  However, even with more user-generated UHD content, disseminating it among friends or even hosting it to sites like YouTube is still an issue in terms of streaming or downloading due to the size of the file involved and consumers’ hatred of videos that buffer.  “Over The Top (OTT) video services will carefully weigh the costs of 4K delivery, the impact on viewing on mobile devices, and the brand halo high resolution services can bring,” said practice director Sam Rosen.

7c0f80f7b4499a5bd46e5e6cb009a3be
Rosen believes companies that use the internet to deliver content will initially focus on bringing UHD to televisions but there are emerging connection technologies that could mean that smartphones become a hub for streaming rich content to other devices around the home.
“New connections like wired MHL 3.0 and wireless 802.11ad can help position mobile devices as a hub for streaming high quality video and gaming to TVs.  Qualcomm’s acquisition of Wilocity and push of 802.11ad could further encourage OTT companies and TV manufacturers to embrace the technology and bring high resolution video to TVs via mobile devices,” he adds.

The Nova Climbing Wall.

climbing_wall2

I have always been a fan of fitness and find the Nova Climbing Wall an interesting way to integrate workout installation into the interior design of a home. Essentially, Nova is a climbing wall with a compelling interactive interface. The wall includes panels with pattern-cut-outs, which replace the colored holds of regular training walls. Climbing routes, difficulty levels and routes are flexibly indicated through light and can be selected via the Smartphone App.  When not in use, you can create a modern ambiance just by the play of lights.

ebayexact_01

As the 3D printing revolution continues to gain pace, eBay have jumped on the bandwagon with a new iPhone app that lets users customise accessories before they are printed and shipped out to them. Named eBay Exact, the simple app shows you several items from 3D printing companies MakerBot, Sculpteo and Hot Pop Factory – mostly iPhone cases and jewelry. Although the app is rather basic at this stage, it could become key part of eBay’s business, signalling a shift towards highly customisable products.

True, the downside to touchscreen phones are inclement weather patterns causing havoc on your hands but at least your mitts can stay stylishly warm thanks to Mujjo Touchscreen Gloves. No, they’re not the only smartphone friendly gloves on the market but they come by way of the Dutchies and those people live in pretty cold conditions, not to mention being neighbors to the coldest of the cold – Scandinavians, so I believe them when they say they’ve perfected it.

“We’ve tested miles of yarn to come up with improved anti-pilling properties and literally spent hour’s texting in an icebox. The result is an optimized balance of insulation, conductivity and elasticity. After numerous requests for different colors, the gloves are now available in natural gray, sandstone, lavender and coral pink.”

iPhone’s 3D Photo Application.

Created by app designer Maybe It’s The Lighting, Stilla is a new iPhone photography app that allows users to transform photographs into striking multi-dimensional images.  By simply taking two, three or more shots, the application remembers the orientation of the camera and overlays the images at angles to fill in the space between, creating a clever, interactive, three dimensional effect. Stills and grabs don’t really do the effect justice, but the following video gives more of a feel for the effect.

Like other photo apps on the market, Stilla images can be shared on social media websites such as Twitter and Facebook, or via email. Web viewing works best with the latest versions of Chrome, Safari and Firefox. Because the app relies on the gyroscope of later Apple devices to measure the orientation of the camera as photos were taken, the app is only compatible with iPhone 4, 4S, 4th generation iPod touch and iPad 2 or later.

How To: Seamlessly Switch Between DJ’s In The Club.

I’ve been working at my craft for the better part of a decade now, and it’s my firm belief that certain things should be mastered pretty early in the game.  Changing DJ’s should always be a seamless transition.  (By seamless, I mean the crowd should have no idea anything happened other than seeing some drunk girl spill a appletini on herself.)  But the more clubs I frequent in my city, I realize that this may be a more difficult task for some DJ’s than it should be.  Below is a video by DJ TechTools on how to make transitions between DJ’s, and if any one of the DJ’s from ‘Recess’ last night is reading this… PLEASE watch this video.
