T-Pain Flips The Twitch.

Everyone knows that celebrities at the end of the day, are just regular people like us. Many stars have been known to voice their love for dabbling in video games from ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ to World of Warcraft. Now we KNOW we’re late to the game here, (no pun intended) but upon first hear of rapper T-Pain joining “Twitch” the video game streaming service, where you can WATCH players play the game, along with the players themselves, we knew we had to take a look. It’s one thing to hear about your favorite rapper or singer playing your favorite video game, but to see them in FULL spectacle during their introduction must be a treat. That being said, T-Pain has to hold the title for THE MOST fantastic Twitch intro in Hip Hop history, and it true Twitch fashion, the whole world can see it. Now we know this occurred a little over a year ago when Covid lockdown was in full effect, but it’s spectacular enough to share never the less.

The Good Ol’ Cajun Shrimp.

Cajun shrimp, regardless the backdrop, doesn’t matter the pan it’s in, no matter who takes the photo, Cajun Shrimp is one of those dishes, that, regardless of its simplicity in nature, is exquisitely intricate. We would write a whole piece about it… but there’s not too much to say. So here’s a recipe for the physical equivalent to “Netflix & Chill”.

Time To Enroll In Your ‘Deadly-Class’.

Deadly Class fans were treated to a hell of a surprise when the first episode of the TV adaptation went online this morning. SyFy is currently hosting the pilot for free via its YouTube channel to get viewers pumped up for the series’ actual premier on January 16th. The pilot introduces audiences to Marcus, a homeless teenager in 1980s America who gets recruited by a school for the next generation of deadly assassins. It’s a chaotic, action-packed, fever dream of a show complete with a punk rock soundtrack and aesthetics.  For those of you who would rather be surprised, do not watch the hour long video below, however, if you won’t mind the wait, then by all means, enjoy this incredible first episode to what will hopefully be an amazing first season to a great, fresh show.

I Know Him! He’s A Friend From Work.

In a surprise no one saw coming, Marvel Studios has released the first teaser trailer for their highly anticipated fall release, Thor Ragnarok, and it’s pretty damn awesome.  It’s not particularly forthcoming with plot details, but we do learn why Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder hasn’t been spotted with Mjolnir in any of the early promo art as Cate Blanchett’s Hela, headdress and all, shatters his mighty hammer to Kingdom Come and takes over Asgard. The trailer also shows off nearly all of the new and returning characters and closes with our hero stepping into the Grandmaster’s arena where he reencounters an old friend from work… but it doesn’t seem like the reunion will be as joyous as he had hoped.  Check out the trailer, which is set to Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song,” below:

The Road To ‘Civil War’.

Captain+America-+Civil+War

The American Civil War… just kidding.  This has nothing to do with any of that.  I had the incredible opportunity to see Captain America: Civil War today, and I will not spoil anything.  However before I hit the secret Disney/Marvel screening, I took a look at a YouTube playlist of all the current Marvel Cinematic Universe trailers (which you can find here), and in the process, I stumbled across a video from the amazing editors at ‘MCU Exchange’ titled “Road To Civil War”.  This is a wonderfully put together 7 minute video that shows the progression of the MCU up until Captain America: Civil War.  Check out the complete wrap up below. Civil War hits theaters on Thursday May 5th in the U.S.

Although it was supposed to premiere during next week’s new episode of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Marvel Studios has gone ahead and officially released the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer following an online leak.  “Dammit, Hydra,” Marvel tweeted in response to the rapid spread of the leaked trailer.  Thankfully, you can now check out a wholly official version in the player below along with an all-new teaser poster.

As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

The New ‘Planet’ Movie Trailer.

dawn-of-the-planet-of-the-apes-ew-2-1

A new full-length trailer for this summer’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is here—and it’s not monkeying around. Fueled by vindictive desperation and the inevitability of all-out primate war, it’s the most intense look yet at what is coming in director Matt Reeves’ flick.  The sequel to 2011′s spine-chilling Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn takes place ten years after its predecessor. Check out the brand new trailer below to see what’s changed in this post apocalyptic Bay Area.

The Avengers 2. (Age Of Ultron).

At the Marvel Studios panel in Hall H for this years ComicCon San Diego, writer/director Joss Whedon took to the stage to announce that the official title for the sequel to The Avengers will be Avengers: Age of Ultron.  Whedon also revealed a brief logo teaser for the film.  Age Of Ultron features favorites from the first “Avengers” film and new Marvel characters never before seen on the big screen.  Avengers: Age of Ultron is slated to begin production in March 2014 and open in theaters on May 1, 2015.

DJ Robbie Wilde. The DEAF DJ.

cf78cddcf75692acdbfe.large

So upon reading the title of this post, people probably did either one of two things.  A, you either giggled, and thought “how could you have a deaf disk jockey”, or B, you’ve seen the incredible (and global) HP commercial that started airing recently, so you know exactly who I’m talking about.  If you happen to be in the A category, let me remind you that it’s hard enough to do what a true DJ does with all you senses intact, much less if one of them is missing.  Robbie’s story is one that proves that no matter what people say that you can’t do, if you want it bad enough, you can do it… even if it means becoming a deaf musician.  ‘It’s better to be the first you, than the second of someone else’. – Clinton Sparks.

Flo Rida ft. Red Foo – Run (Official Video).

There seems to be a trend coming to light of overly simplified music videos.  The newest video to fall victim to this is ‘Run’ from Flo Rida and LMFAO’s Red Foo.  Although I’m not necessarily a fan of this type of one shot, one style, super simple video… this one I think I can deal with.  Check the method below.

The Living Calendar.

The Living Concept 2009 was created specially for project newave.com.ua. What separates this calendar from your traditional fair is the ability to show weeks, months, holidays, and time all at a glance. A large hand shows a current day (and month too), thus doing a complete turn during 365 days. A little hand shows the current day of week (and current hour) and accordingly does a complete turn for 7 days. It seems totally overwhelming to try and read everything together but that’s only half the story. You can buy one of these mechanical calendars mid December for, wait for it. . . $94,950.

Start Trippin.

Above are two pics from the ‘Stop Trippin’ video, (the bottom being a quick shot of my assistant Ashley F. and I).  Bay Area emcee Jay Cee and R.O.D. teamed up recently with Clayton William to create the track ‘Stop Trippin’.  The song circles around the very relatable situation of having your significant other not realizing the sacrifices necessary to stay afloat in the entertainment industry… hence the title.  I’m quite excited to see the final result of the video, but for now, check out the trailer, and the making of the track before that.

Loiter Squad – Episode 1/Odd Future Afterparty In San Francisco.

Just like many other 18-15 year old males in the U.S., I’ve become a fan of most of the programming on Adult Swim (the off the wall late night programming that comes on Cartoon Network).  As the line up has changed over the years, I’ve had many different programs to look forward to, but a few months ago I got a bombshell dropped on me that Odd Future would be getting their own Adult Swim programming slot.  The people reading this not totally familiarized with O.F. might not understand just how ridiculous that concept seems, but you will soon.  I’ve managed to get my hands on the first episode of the show ‘Loiter Squad’, and not only is it pure unadulterated hilarity, it’s also exact what Adult Swim needed to keep their line-up fresh.  Check the method below.

For those of you who are unaware of the O.F. movement, let me just open up your mind to the situation.  The group is led by rapper/producer Tyler, The Creator, and includes rappers Hodgy Beats, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis and Mike G, singer Frank Ocean, producers Left Brain, Syd the Kyd and Matt Martians, and other non-musical members, notably Jasper Dolphin, Taco and L-Boy (that appeared in the ‘Loiter Squad’ episode above.)  Their music is a crowd hyping force to be reckoned with, and anyone who wants proof of this needs to go no further than San Francisco.  O.F. is gathering at 330 Ritch on April 9th for a night of intoxicated skullduggery courtesy of Above Ground.  Click the pic below for tickets.

The Most Amazing Video Of Bruce Lee… Playing Ping Pong.

Normally all my posts come along with some formal explanation, some details, or some type of witty comment.  This time around, just watch the REAL video below.  Bruce Lee will for ever be the man.  Nuff said.

Donald Glover – Weirdo.

I’ve said publicly many a time that one of my favorite art forms is stand up comedy.  After a rough week of work, there’s nothing else that I enjoy more than just sitting down and watching stand up for hours.  This week my comedian of choice was Donald Glover, star of the show ‘Community’ who also goes by the rap alias “Childish Gambino”.  Below is his hysterical stand up titled “Weirdo”.

‘An Idiot Abroad 2’.

The year 2011 has brought trials, tribulations, beautiful life changes, and incredible opportunities, but one thing has brightened up my year in a unique way that nothing else could have.  The official return of “An Idiot Abroad”.  Take a look at the extended trailer for the return of one of my favorite shows below.

Carlos Mencia – Having Perspective.

I had a conversation with one of my best friends about the 2012 elections, and I made some pretty logical points.  During the course of that little talk, a third party asked if I was quoting comedian Carlos Mencia.  After a little research, I found the spot they were talking about.  Check the method below.  All in all, Carlos is just happy that we have a president in office. See Carlos’ new special “New Territory,”

Steve Forstner x Gravis Footwear.

Steve Forstner the German skater came together recently with Gravis Footwear to produce a super sick skate video on behalf of the shoe company.  Check the method below.

Throwback Video: Busta Rhymes – Break Yo Neck.

Click the pic to watch the video.

When it comes to classic hip hop videos, Busta Rhyme’s “Break Yo Neck” stands out as one of my all time favorites. From the spontaneous dancing red men, Busta humping a steam-roller cruising down the street, to the uber-random headbutt-battle in the middle of the video, “Break Yo Neck” was one of the greatest of its time.  The video featuring appearances from Spliff Starr, Cee Lo Green, Diddy, Timbaland, Lil Jon, Ludacris, Dr. Dre and a small hand full of others, (unfortunately the d*cks over at SME won’t let me put the video on this page) so click the pic above to check out the 2001 video for “Break Yo Neck”.

Captain America: Official Trailer.

During the Super Bowl, the Captain America teaser was the one I was looking forward to the most, after I missed it, and looked it up online after the game, I was honestly sourly disappointed by what I saw.  So after the hearing that the full trailer had just showed up online, I wasn’t too enthusiastic.  After actually watching it however, my mind has changed a little bit.  The action seems a bit better, and the movie makes a bit more sense than it appeared during the 30 second Super Bowl spot.  And although I know for a fact that Captain America isn’t found frozen in ice as in the comics, (which my comic book loving sister is pissed about), my faith in the movie has gotten a bit stronger.  Check the method below.

Eminem ft. B.O.B. – Things Get Worse.

Click the pic to listen. (Courtesy of HHG)

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, I’m happen to be a tremendous Eminem fan, and have been since he first came out.  I’m well aware there was a period when he started to lose the “Slim Shady” that made him an undeniable force in the rap game, and I remember what that music used to sound like.  I’m super excited that he’s back in the game, and I was juiced when I heard about his new track with B.O.B., however when the song started, it just reminded me of when Em was losing his Shady so to speak… This lasted for about 13 seconds until Eminem blasted off on a lyrical tangent about Angelina J. giving head, and how Brat Pitt doesn’t can’t do anything about it.  After that, the song was all uphill from there, and truly reminded me of the ultra-witty rhyme-style Em had back in the day.  That in combination with B.O.B. gracing the track with his presence, this one is a sure thing for the repeat bin in my iPhone.

Vanishing on 7th Street: Trailer.

So, when I read the premise for the independent film “Vanishing on 7th Street”, the first thing that came to mind was the old Vin Diesel movie “Pitch Black”, which basically boils down to ‘stay in well lit areas, or thats your as$, because scary things will grab you.’    One of my other issues is the classic “I just woke up, and the world ended while I slept” opening.  Movie plots that start like that irk my nerves as much as acting makes Nicholas Cage go crazy.  (I may as well just watch ’28 Days Later’.)  But I do have to say that regardless of the other “stay in the light” themed movies, “7th Street” does take somewhat of a unique turn in terms of just what’s coming after you in the dark.  And from the looks of the trailer, there are not that many main characters to go around, so there’s not telling who will live and who will go like other terribly predictable movies.  I have my gripes, but all in all I think it’ll be good movie going experience.  Click the pic to watch the trailer.

An unexplained blackout plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, and by the time the sun rises, only a few people remain – surrounded by heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. A small handful of strangers that have survived the night (Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo and newcomer Jacob Latimore) each find their way to a rundown bar, whose gasoline-powered generator and stockpile of food and drink make it the last refuge in a deserted city. With daylight beginning to disappear completely and whispering shadows surrounding the survivors, they soon discover that the enemy is the darkness itself, and only the few remaining light sources can keep them safe. As time begins to run out for them, darkness closes in and they must face the ultimate terror.

Sucker Punch: Trailer.

Click the pic to watch the trailer.

For the last few weeks I’ve been seeing posters all over the place with a black background, and the words “Sucker Punch” in nicely edited type all over downtown SF, and I knew it was a poster for a movie, but I haddn’t the foggiest clue as to what the movie was about. When I peeped the trailer yesterday however, I was shocked to see how dope this ridiculous girl-power epic looked on screen. If I had to put up my own description, I’d simply say “Sucker Punch” reminds me visually of every sick action movie ever made + Quentin Tarantino + The live action Power Puff Girls. But check the synopsis below, and click the pic to watch the trailer.

Close your eyes. Open your mind. You will be unprepared. “Sucker Punch” is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary. She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls–the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)–to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm). Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey–if they succeed–will set them free.

Iron Samurai Watch

I saw this watch when it was just in its concept stage, and lost the link to it.  Its been a few months, and my assistant recently just found info on the “Iron Samurai”, and I’m so excited to be able to order one.  (Thanks Ash).  No longer a concept, the Iron Samurai Watch is already available from a Chinese retailer, priced at a mere $15. This watch has supposedly “been known to increase its wearers’ strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom, and charisma.”
