Daft Punk Unchained- Trailer

https://thirtyroses.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/maxresdefault.jpg

The first ever documentary film on the most secretive duo in the world. The epic story of two uncompromising artists. With the participation of their closest collaborators and friends from Pharrell Williams to Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Kanye West, Michel Gondry, Paul Williams, Peter Lindbergh, Leiji Matsumoto and Pete Tong.

Daft Punk Unchained, directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre, is the first independent film which explores an exceptional pop culture phenomenon of the last twenty years: Daft Punk. Between fiction and reality, magic and secrets, theatricality and humility, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have created a unique artistic universe. Throughout their career they have remained determined to control every link in the chain of their creative work. The film highlights key moments of their story, from their first school band in Paris to their historic concert at Coachella festival in 2006 and their spectacular triumph at the 2014 Grammy Awards for the album « Random Access Memories ». In an era of globalisation and the expansion of social media, they have refused to show their own faces and they orchestrate every detail of their appearances as robots. The documentary includes archives of radio interviews with Daft Punk, rare footage and exclusive interviews with their friends and close collaborators from Pharrell Williams to Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Kanye West, Michel Gondry, Paul Williams, Peter Lindbergh, Leiji Matsumoto and Pete Tong.

Pharrell Williams – Gust of Wind

Pharrell Williams has reunited with electronic music masterminds Daft Punk and filmmaker edgar wright to present the music video for the track ‘gust of wind,’ off his latest album G I R L. Of course it wouldn’t be a pharrell masterpiece without him and daft punk challenging the laws of gravity; throughout the clip he walks through a vibrant forest with groups of interstellar gymnasts performing choreographed maneuvers while two enormous stone helmets hover around him before final takeoff.

Helmetica.

Brooklyn artist Justin Maller has a series of digital portraits in “Facets” style.  He skills have been used to illustrate the likes of Darth Vader all the way to Daft Punk and beyond.  Check the method.

French designer and creative director of luxury label Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane has designed stage gear for the return of the epic electronic musical duo Daft Punk. Set to hit stores at the end of May, Daft Punk’s upcoming album “Random Access Memories” is one of this year’s most eagerly anticipated releases. In the black and white visuals, shot in Los Angeles, the band (made up of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter) are dressed in stage wear by Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent, including a black glitter jacket, ‘le smoking’. The designer’s Rock Diary project has also seen Slimane create a visual record of his relationships with his favorite musicians and bands.

Daft Punk – Something About Us (Cherokee Remix)

Within the realm of electronic music, no song is safe from becoming remixed and France’s Cherokee has chosen to rework Daft Punk’s 2001 single “Something About Us.” The transformation of the iconic duo’s record sees a relaxed melody and over all simplistic instrumentation. So while many are undoubtedly loyal to the legendary French group, this is still something you should check out.  Click the pic above to take a listen.

Daft Punk vs. Coca Cola?

After the Daft Punk inspired Club Coke 2011 bottles launched earlier this year, here is the official Daft Punk x Coca Cola collaboration bottles.  The classic Coke glass bottle comes with gold and silver Coca-Cola logo application and matching Daft Punk bottle crown sitting on top.  The silver one is actually 925 silver and the gold one features 18k yellow gold. Hand finished the bottles are sitting in a box designed by Daft Punk.  The signed box set is limited to only 20 sets worldwide. You can enter to win a box set, which is signed by the artists, at daftcoke.com.

The Anotomy Of A Mashup.

Mashups are all over the place, they come and go, and are part of the music entertainment world. But few people outside of the select few know what it takes to compile a solid mashup. Fortunately I was told that one of the incredible Daft Punk mashups I’ve acquired recently from Cameron Adams, came with a chart of all the songs it was blended with, and a real time map of the mixing. Click the pic below (or above) to see this intricate and interesting look about the making of a mashup.

A Snoop Dogg, Star Wars, Daft Punk, And David Beckham Video?

Yes, not only is this true, it’s actually pretty old.  I got into a heated debate on the phone with my working colleague Neil about Snoop Dogg, and I mentioned his participation in the Adidas/Star Wars collab.  Neil instantly called me a liar and told me I was making things up, so I decided to write this post just in case anyone else was unaware of the summer 2010 Adidas ad featuring Snoop Dogg, David Beckham, Daft Punk, and a few other big entertainers.

Further than that, there was a second ad put out by Adidas featuring the same stars shortly after.  I know there are probably sneaker heads (like Gabby) cussing under their breath about how old this is, but I’m just trying to prove a point.

Daft Tron

Just as any self-respecting nerd has been doing over the last few days, I too have been trying to dig up as much info as possible about the new ‘Tron Legacy’. Disney’s sequel is set to release Dec. 17th 2010, but even in all its young-Jeff Bridges, and ‘Kid-that-got-shot-up-in-4-Brothers‘ (Garrett Hedlund), disk dodging, light-cycling glory, what I’m the most anxious for is the soundtrack. Produced entirely of brand spanking new Daft Punk tracks, (one of which can be heard in the second half of the new trailer available on http://www.apple.com/trailers). The soundtrack will bring an audience of music lovers in for the film that may not have been enticed otherwise. Not to mention the duo will actually be appearing IN the movie. (Kudos)
