The End Of ‘The Most Interesting Man In The World’.

man-big

Even though we’ve never learned his name, the Dos Equis mascot known only as “The Most Interesting Man In The World” has started his final ad campaign. Since the first time I heard that unmistakable jingle, and heard the first few jokes, the Dos Equis campaign has been one of my favorites on television. (I’ve even remixed the theme, and performed shows with that as my intro.) Aside from the official commercial itself, “The Most Interesting Man In The World” has inspired a barrage of memes and countless 1 liners in the style of the commercial.  Some thought the Dos Equis mascot (actor Jonathan Goldsmith) had seen is last day when tumors of his death surfaced in 2013, but it seems the end of his journey takes place on Mars.  Check out what is seemingly the final commercial, what is the end of “the most interesting man in the world.

Just incase, for some odd reason Dos Equis ads are illegal in your country, take a look at some of the his classic commercial highlights… Stay thirsty my friends.

The Two Most… “Interesting” Videos On The Internet This Week.

mgid-uma-video-mtv.com-1068714

I had an interesting time this week combing through articles, photos, and videos on the internet, and two specific things, not only caught my eye, but will cease to leave my mind.  The first of which is the new Samsung Galaxy S7 commercial featuring Weezy himself.  Lil Wayne has said that his debut role in Apartments.com’s Super Bowl ad was “dope” and the “illest idea ever.”  He loved it so much that he’s now taken a new role in Samsung’s Galaxy S7 ad campaign. The rapper said he plans to do more acting in commercials in the future.  Adweek asked Lil Wayne if he’d like to be in more ads and he responded: “Hell yeah, I do … it was kind of different to have to actually follow the rules, and that was cool. Being on the set and knocking it out, it was fun.” The commercial itself is hilarious, and quite “different”.  Check the method below.

The second internet clip that is now seared into my memory, is the Pixar spoof from writers/producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.  “Sausage Party” may look like it’s headed for an NC-17 rating, but the creators assured advanced audiences at SXSW that it has already been awarded an R rating by the MPAA. It is directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon. And it is definitely not for children, so keep them far, far away.  Seth Rogen headlines this adventure as a hotdog just looking to get laid inside a delicious bun. But he soon discovers his destiny lies upon a different path. The film features the vocal talents of a who’s who of today’s comedy stars. The ensemble also includes Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek.  Check the trailer below.

Missy Elliott – Pep Rally

Missy-Elliott

In quite unpredictable fashion, Missy Misdemeanor Elliott, released a new song via the universally famous “Super Bowl Commercial” ad route.  In a commercial with Alec Baldwin, and Dan Marino, Missy seemingly dropped her next hit.  Check the commercial out below.

And if you want a seat at the ‘Pep Rally’ just check out the video below.

Super Bowl 50’s Captain America TV Spot.

Screen Shot 2016-02-07 at 4.31.40 PM

Everyone knows that the Super Bowl is rife with new trailers, and exciting premieres, already we’ve seen ‘The Jungle Book’ and ‘Jason Bourne’ debut trailers, but the most exciting trailer by far of a film we’ve already seen a glimpse of, was ‘Captain America: Civil War’.  Filled with new looks at characters, and an ominous overtone, the ONLY thing wrong with this trailer is that there’s still no view of Spider-man.  (However, I’d rather wait until the actual movie to be surprised, so I’m not too upset by it.)

Mario’s Getting a Mercedes

If you’ve ever played a Super Mario game, you’re going to love the new Japanese commercial for the Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV.  In it, an 8-bit Mario smashes blocks, collects coins, and runs over baddies in a pixelated Benz. When he wraps up the level, the NES game turns live-action, and a tough looking Mario in Batman-esque armor emerges from the SUV.  Besides being a fun ad, it marks a notable shift for both Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz.  It’s the first example of Nintendo licensing its intellectual property after its president Satoru Iwata announced the company would move in this direction as it struggles to profit from games on its Wii U console, Bloomberg reports. The GLA will also be the first real-life car available in the upcoming “Mario Kart 8.”

Terry Crews and the Muppets | 2014 Toyota Highlander

The Muppets are delightful in each and every way, so naturally their Toyota Super Bowl commercial with the ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ star Terry Crews to team u with them.

Budweiser’s Super Bowl Commercial: A Puppy And A Horse Are In Love

Budweiser-Puppy-Love-commercial

Budweiser has always has heart warming commercials when it comes to the Super Bowl, in a nutshell, it tells the tale of a puppy who repeatedly escapes from its owner in order to spend time with a big  clydesdale at a nearby farm. Try as they might, the owners can’t seem to keep the puppy from its beloved, and with a little assistance from the horse’s inner circle, the animals are forever united.

Mom-Song

Screen Shot 2014-01-30 at 12.10.52 PM

Old Spice is known for their ‘out of the box’ commercials that get people to talk about them more than they actually advertise their product.  However, the new “Mom-Song” commercial does both pretty effectively.  It’s spreading so fast online that the lyrics pop up on Google like it’s a chart topper.  Check the method below.

Lyrics: “Oh I didn’t see it coming, but it came in a can. Now my sweet son’s sprayed into a man. Mine too and hey we know just who to blame. When our sons have fun with women and misbehave. Old Spice! Old Spice sprayed a man of my son. Now he’s kissing all the women and his chores aren’t done. He was just my little sweetie, tiny fingers hands and feeties. Now he’s touching kissing feeling all the women because Old Spice sprayed a man of my son now he smells like a man and they treat him like one.”

Don’t Let Your Halloween Taste This Bad.

Screen Shot 2013-10-28 at 8.47.44 AMWith the first round of Halloween parties already passed, and the 31st of October fast approaching, everyone has candy on the brain.  Trick-or-Treat-ing usual results in lots of treats, but Crest took a bit more heavily to the ‘trick’ side of things when they created veggie-flavored candy for kids.  Take a look at the hilarious video below.

Sony Xperia Z Versus Fashion

Picture 3

Sony has teamed up with British photographer and filmmaker Ryan Hopkinson to produce a commercial which pushes the technology and understanding of their latest smartphone – the Sony Xperia Z. Working alongside creative technology consultants Hirsch & Mann and fashion designer Christopher Raeburn, Hopkinson’s short film crosses the boundaries of art, fashion and technology by utilising custom software, bespoke apps and a wireless control system. The main “bullet time” rig is the first in the world to be made up entirely of smartphones, with over 100 Xperia Z’s spiralling above and below a catwalk.

Old Spice has been coming up with some pretty good ads for the last few years now.  From Terry Crews, to ‘The Man Your Man Could Smell Like’, if nothing else, Old Spice ads are quite memorable.  For they’re newest two fragrances they’re come up with some new, but equally ridiculous commercials which fans of their older ads are sure to love.  Check the method below.

Bugatti Gangloff Concept

04 01

Check out this concept car created by Polish designer Paweł Czyżewski. The Bugatti Gangloff Concept is a design study of a sleek super car inspired by the 1938 Type 57 SC Atalante Coupe one-off. The name Gangloff is from the French coach-builder that created the Type 57 SC Atalante. As you can see from features like the size air intakes and the horsehoe grill, the car also brings in cues from the Veyron. “In times of commercial trash and plastic it is hard to see something that has a soul and is able to squeeze out a positive mark on the heart,” Czyzewski said about the car.

DJ Robbie Wilde. The DEAF DJ.

cf78cddcf75692acdbfe.large

So upon reading the title of this post, people probably did either one of two things.  A, you either giggled, and thought “how could you have a deaf disk jockey”, or B, you’ve seen the incredible (and global) HP commercial that started airing recently, so you know exactly who I’m talking about.  If you happen to be in the A category, let me remind you that it’s hard enough to do what a true DJ does with all you senses intact, much less if one of them is missing.  Robbie’s story is one that proves that no matter what people say that you can’t do, if you want it bad enough, you can do it… even if it means becoming a deaf musician.  ‘It’s better to be the first you, than the second of someone else’. – Clinton Sparks.

Visually Stunning Store Concept In Shenzhen, China

Shanghai-based interior designers and architects Coordination Asia have completed a new breed of telecom stores named AER for AISIDI, one of China’s leading resellers of mobile and digital products and services. AER is a retail brand that offers customized mobile services in a playful, cool and customer-focused environment. The architects took on branding as well as VI and store design for AER. The first AER store has now opened in Shenzhen and new stores are planned to open China-wide soon.

Inspired by the growing importance of mobile Internet use in daily life in China, the firm created an out-of-the-box brand that turns the act of purchasing a mobile product into an active and fun experience. AER is based on a great understanding of mobile lifestyle, in which mobile devices keep you connected, entertained and updated through a variety of online and offline apps. The store layout of the commercial property has been designed as an interactive environment that caters to the needs of different target-customers: Trendy, Lifestyle and Tech Savvy. Products are thematically presented in combination with related accessories, apps and carriers on custom-made presentation tables with ‘serving trays’. Following a black runway from the entrance, customers find the App Bar where they can try out mobile apps on a large interactive screen. Painted pegboards are used to cover the walls of the store. This allows display shelves to be hung freely within the whole space and to be changed location at all times. The whole interior is flexible, so that changes in layout can be made quick and easily. The interior designers have created a concept that fits perfectly for the needs of mobile-minded customers, who are used-to ‘click and play’ and never want to be bored. The ever-changing store concept of AER will keep customers coming back, providing them with an exciting and new experience every time.

The World’s Greatest Beer Ad.

Unless your granddad used to brew his own beer and take you through the process at a young, slightly bored age, chances are you have little to no idea about how it’s all made.  From now on, we’re taking the below advert as gospel.  The process has been broken down in this new commercial from the Hahn Brewery, who make beer over in Australia. It involves a number of stages with just one thing in common: total awesomeness.  We don’t want to ruin it so take a look below. You can then join us in manically Googling how we can import Hahn Super Dry as soon as humanly possible.

Total Blackout.

When it comes to an overly complicated game show based a simple concept, ‘The Price Is Right’ pretty much sets the bar.  But at work on Halloween night, I caught a glimpse of one of the greatest game shows based on a basic idea that blew my mind.  The show ‘Total Blackout’ prey’s on people’s fear of the dark, and does more damage to it than SF Giants fans.  ALTHOUGH the video below says Wednesdays, the show now comes on at 10 P.M. on Tuesdays, take a look at the SyFy original series below…  I’m signing my assistant and I up for an episode right now.

Ethos’s Ruby Skye Commercial: Behind The Scenes.

From ‘The List‘ to a new spot at Bruno’s in San Francisco, to working on brand new shows artists from New York to Los Angeles, my plate has been filled with some interesting new opportunities.  The most recent of which was a gig hooked up by one of my best friends DJ Jeff Phantom.  The upstairs room of Ruby Skye, San Francisco’s most infamous night club got a make over, and the Ethos Tech Production team was there to create the film magic.

Special Thanks: to Jeff Pham, Thabo D’Anjou, Alexandra C., and Ashley F.  Footage provided by Steve Forbes, and additional clips by Michael Bacca.  On set crew – Aaron Collins, Paul Pascale, Spencer Moore, and Matthew Robinson.  Models – Elizabeth A. Hendrix, Kimberly Rucker, Mira Gitoff, and Rachel Kadish.  Music by Funky Notes and Asher Roth.  Editing by Storm McDonald.  Filmed at Ruby Skye San Francisco.

Samuel L. Jackson – Beez In The Trap.

Millions of Nicki Minaj fans all over the world not only love and adore her music, but are enthused by the way she dresses.  The pink wigs, the crazy costume-esque attire, and the wild and crazy accessories all add to Minaj’s swagger.  But it’s rare to see someone who would wouldn’t expect taking on Nicki’s pink wig, and singing one of her songs… Much less Samuel L Jackson, one of the most gangster mother f*ckers of all time.

Chicago vs. Chicago: Round 2 (Extended Version).

Last summer New Era paid homage to the bitter rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox with a series of commercials featuring comedic actors Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski.  This spring, the sports apparel company has shifted its focus to the Windy City where Chicago White Sox fan Craig Robinson (Daryl from “The Office”) and Cubs fan Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson on “Parks and Recreation”) can’t seem to agree on anything.

Rick Ross & Reebok.

Back in my day, companies like Gatorade, Wheaties, Nike, and Reebok used athletes to get the point across that their brand was aimed at the sports players.  I’m a Ricky Rosay fan, don’t get me wrong, but he’s so big, when he turns in a circle, people throw him a welcome back party.  He isn’t exactly the perfect picture of athleticism.  However, although Reebok is taking the a different road with who sports their brand, Rick Ross’s international recognition will do nothing but good things for their name.  Check out the makings of the first collaboration between Rick Ross and Reebok.

‘From Marcy to Barclays’ (First Ever Rocawear Commercial)

The first ever Rocawear commercial is a retrospective of Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s journey as a kid growing up in the humble projects of Brooklyn aspiring to make music and eventually making history. On that journey, the first business beyond music was the birth of Rocawear. Carter’s Rocawear brand represents his prowess as a business man who continues to challenge himself to be more than merely a musician. In the spot, Jay explains “ My goal was to have one gold album and that was it. And then it became, I want to show that an artist can ascend to the executive ranks.” Ultimately it has been Jay-Z’s ability to inspire his customers that has afforded Rocawear over 10 years as the number one brand in its’ space. Carter continues, “Rocawear just keeps reinventing itself and redefining itself every single day.”  And you thought Rocawear was dead?

The Kobe System.

If you haven’t experienced the Kobe System for yourself, you must not know what it feels like to be over the top.  This is because the Kobe System isn’t just about getting to the top, it’s about going over the top.  Success for the Successful is Kobe Bryant’s winning, results-oriented philosophy on how to adapt to succeed.  To commemorate the release of the Kobe System, Nike has released a few viral videos to help get Kobe’s Message across. The Kobe system is basically VII sneaker with 2 separate inserts.  One insert helps with speed while the other helps with performance. It’s up to you to decide which one.  In the videos, Kobe plays a motivational speaker that manages to motivate without making much sense to anyone but himself. The videos feature an all star cast that includes Kanye West, Serena Williams, skateboarder Paul Rodriguez, comedian Aziz Ansari, and even Virgin CEO Richard Branson.

Take a look at some of the Kobe System “motivational speeches” in the videos below.

Petr Spetina’s Water Music.

Born 1973, in the Czech Republic as a farmers son, Petr found his way to glass music through accordion and piano.  He specialized on glass harp and has been brilliantly playing it for 15 years.  His multifaceted compositions, performed on his self-developed glass harp made of 33 glasses, are policed by his unique playing technique His repertoire covers everything that makes his glasses sing.  From classical to tradition music, to pop.  Numerous appearances at the events and in shows, as well as in film, television and advertising confirm the uniqueness of Petr Spatina’s performance.  Truly outstanding music that goes straight into the ear and definitely under the skin.

Amber Rose x Smirnoff.

Many people both inside and outside of the Hip Hop community have their opinions about video girls/video models.  But one thing is for sure, when someone who’s initially hired for being a pretty face, turns their opportunity into a career, its something to be commended.  Amber Rose was most noted for dating Kanye West (and subsequently Wiz Khalifa) recently teamed up with Smirnoff Vodka to produce a series of TV spots.  The first ad got people talking, and the second was released on Christmas, but hasn’t yet showed up on the web.  Check the first ad out below.

T.I. & Tiny – The Family Hustle.

Tip Harris has been a well known face in the Hip Hop community for many a year, but some of the decisions he’s made in his personal life since his entrance into the spot light have been a bit… odd.  Weather you’ve been waiting for it since it was announced, or never cared enough to remember hearing about it, T.I.’s reality show has almost reached the airwaves.  VH1 released a preview recently about the man, the mogul, and the myths that surround his mind-state.  Check the method below.
