Collage artwork of a black fur skirt on illustrated legs in dark tights and heels, by Martha Haversham

Artist Martha Haversham — @smallditch on Instagram — makes high fashion out of what the street leaves behind. In her collage series, shared here by Vintage Fantasy Magazine, elegantly illustrated figures in heels get their outfits from real found litter: a cigarette pack becomes a skirt, a candy wrapper becomes a dress, and a crushed drinks can becomes the handbag of the season.

The materials list reads like the contents of a gutter, styled like a runway. An Oreo wrapper is tailored into a mini-skirt, a crushed Red Bull can does the same job, a pink disposable vape hangs off an arm as a clutch, and cigarette butts are patiently arranged into capri pants. Then a single green leaf gets the full couture treatment — proof that in Haversham’s hands there is no real difference between yesterday’s trash and next season’s collection.

The final frames pull back the curtain, showing hands collecting the next “fabrics” straight off the pavement — a reminder that every piece in the series started as somebody’s discarded moment. It’s playful, a little pointed, and completely irresistible: fashion’s throwaway culture, dressed in actual throwaways. Haversham’s work is featured in Vintage Fantasy Magazine volume .05, recently restocked.
