Have you ever been reliant on something, then slowly and silently over time, you cease to realize it was there. Like printer ink… you never know you used it so much until it was gone. Anyway, this is the way we’re sure many people feel about Skype. this community communication conduit is now clicking the close button on its services today for good. Skype was launched in 2003 in Estonia and became popular for making free international calls. eBay bought it in 2005 but sold it in 2009, and Microsoft acquired it in 2011.

Microsoft is shutting down Skype, the popular phone and video service that was widely used in the mid-2000s. Skype will no longer be available starting in May. Users can move their login information to Microsoft Teams’ free version soon. Microsoft bought Skype in 2011 for $8.5 billion and included it in products like Office and Windows Phone. However, Skype’s popularity has decreased in recent years due to competition from apps like Zoom, FaceTime, and WhatsApp. Microsoft has also focused on improving Teams, which offers similar features.
