The title may appear a tad confusing for a second, but when you get into the brilliant history of how the track fell together. The British rap group Pete & Bas created the lyrically masterful track titled “T-Pain”, to which T-Pain himself then took and dropped a verse to. This is quite the way to get an artist’s attention. (especially as how Jordan Adetunji has a track titled “Kehlani” as well, which prompted a swift remix from her as well). But this MAY begin a new trend of lower tier and unrecognized talents naming a track after an artist that they wish to jump on the song. Pete & Bas however are their own unique animals on their own.
The duo’s combined age is over 140. (Let THAT sink in for a second). The duo, both in their 70s, debuted with the single “Shut Ya Mouth” in 2017 after Pete found a passion for hip hop through his granddaughter’s music. Excited about this new interest, he shared it with Bas, and they decided to release their song on YouTube, where it quickly went viral. This success led them to produce more music, perform at gigs, and embark on a concert tour across major UK cities. They now have over a million Instagram followers.
