‘Logan The Wolf’
Now, given everything that’s been just said in the first half of this post (YES, this is our first two parter…) there is a lot to be said about independently scripted, filmed, created, and produced media. It’s a special and spectacular sight to behold when creatives aren’t constantly constricted to the confines of corporate constructs. Every detail about “Logan The Wolf” is ridiculously done, even down to the tiny details like how his claws come out at slightly different times, which is subtle, yet unique to any on screen representation (besides ‘Logan’). The fighting style is intense and graphic, but still manages to capture the amazing strengths of independent creators. When ALL they have to focus on is 12 minutes, they make the most of ever milisecond. There are tiny showings of his inner animal, like the fact that he pulls no punches when it comes to female opponents… which has been demonstrated in the books, but when it comes to the films, never as graphically as this.
The bloody overtone, in combination with the speed, and the movement of the actors and the direction of Godefroy Ryckewaert makes it watch worthy. It may not match up chronologically with the comics, but it does NOT need to. His healing factor is a bit slower, but it doesn’t need to be fast because it’s put to good visual use. We are VERY happy to say that this is not for the kids. The accent is a bit dainty the action is not. It’s also nice to see a different iteration on one of the classic mutant villains in this as well, which you’ll have to watch until the clip-hanger ending to see. But this is just a BEYOND perfect example of what good editing/writing/choreography/planning/shooting/CG implementation can do in the hands on independent creators can make for.
This is lightyears beyond what the sit-at-home editors may try to trick YouTube viewers with when presenting a project. Some of us here at the blog are video editors, and photo editors, or sound editors, or whatevitors, so the over arching point of this double post is not the throw shade, its simply to remind people to label something of your own creation YOUR OWN. ‘Logan The Wolf’ gets it 1,000% right, and everyone in the creative process is listed in the credits. Its not just labeled as a trailer people are waiting on… that just deception intended to show off the prowess of fans without a job in the film industry.
