Lenovo has introduced a transparent display that enables users to view real-world objects or surroundings while overlaying digital content on top, opening up new possibilities for personal computing. For instance, an artist could observe an object situated behind the laptop appearing on the display, allowing them to incorporate digital drawings and other enhancements for mixed reality applications. It’s important to note that this laptop isn’t intended for commercial release but rather serves as a demonstration of Lenovo’s advanced technological capabilities.

In an interview with AI Business, Tom Butler, executive director of commercial notebook portfolio at Lenovo, mentioned that if the laptop were to be made available for sale, Lenovo would incorporate the capability for the display to turn opaque. Additionally, Lenovo and Motorola unveiled a revamped foldable smartphone that users can bend to wear on their wrist or other locations. This device leverages Lenovo’s display and mechanical advancements developed for its foldable devices and rollable concepts.

Lenovo also unveiled a line of AI PCs: The ThinkPad T14 i Gen 5, ThinkPad T14s Gen 5, ThinkPad T16 Gen 3, ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2 and ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 Gen 4.  These have AI hardware (Intel Core Ultra processors) and software (Windows 11) with a dedicated AI key for Microsoft Copilot AI assistants. The AI PCs will start shipping in the Spring.
