Rockstar Games have announced that their latest game, Grand Theft Auto V, has netted over $800 million USD  in revenue in just 24 hours. The game will become the fastest selling in history when it breaks the $1 billion mark, a feat which took Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 fifteen days when it was released last November. Rockstar are reported to have spent $265 million creating and marketing Grand Theft Auto V, making it the most expensive game in history, but figures like these mean they’re even smashing the Hollywood movie box office. Compared to the blockbusters of 2013, GTA V is already ahead of films such as as Fast and Furious 6, World War Z, Man of Steel, and the year’s highest grossing film, Iron Man 3, which took home $200 million USD on its opening weekend.
