Neil DeGrasse Tyson – We Stopped Dreaming.

During an interesting conversation with my close friend and emcee A.Mo about his thoughts on human never actually making it to the moon, he told me his theory was reinforced by the fact that humans never went back to the moon.  (That’s right, a rapper and a DJ having an intellectual conversation about topics other than music.)  But I saw a documentary recently that re-sparked my interest in the matter.  Astrophysicist Neil DeGraase Tyson delves into why exactly it is that people began the space race.  The original space race was fueled by fear. What will jump start the next one (space race 2.0)?

The point here seems to be inspiration. How do we do things better? Is it through more rules and laws? Will more and better standardized testing make education better? No, I don’t think so. What will make education is that moment when people (in general) strive for better education. When people want to learn things so that they can do things. When people dream.  I can’t even think of anything else to add to this speech by Neil deGraase Tyson. It was just that good.
