The Nova Climbing Wall.

climbing_wall2

I have always been a fan of fitness and find the Nova Climbing Wall an interesting way to integrate workout installation into the interior design of a home. Essentially, Nova is a climbing wall with a compelling interactive interface. The wall includes panels with pattern-cut-outs, which replace the colored holds of regular training walls. Climbing routes, difficulty levels and routes are flexibly indicated through light and can be selected via the Smartphone App.  When not in use, you can create a modern ambiance just by the play of lights.

Having just premiered its sport quattro concept coupe at the 2013 frankfurt motor show, AUDI has unveiled a sculptural installation at the Die Neue Sammlung at the Pinakothek Der Moderne, which presents a full-size model of the 700 horsepower two-seater hardtop at the heart of it. The debut of the expansive wall-mounted work–commissioned by the cultural institution following the success of AUDI’s ‘design icons’exhibition presented there earlier this year–that will remain a part of the permanent collection of the die neue sammlung for at least five years. 1800 miniature models of the automotive company’s 1980’s UR-quattro cover the wall of the museum space, acting as a backdrop to the featured sports car. The small-scale maquettes have each been milled from a seven-kilogram block of aluminium–a material which AUDI is no stranger to, having gained expertise in working with it through their automotive engineering for many years. A metal which is often referenced to being the epitome of lightness and stability, each of the resulting UR-quattro replicas weigh 860 grams–manufactured in a small production run–and stand as a testament to AUDI’s toolmaking expertise. A mirror suspended from the ceiling, offers an endless perspective of the rows upon rows of miniatures which soar vertically upwards–an infinite space where the viewer is immersed in the world of AUDI.

Yuki Matsueda’s 3D Sculptures

17 general

Yuki Matsueda is one of the most interesting talents in 3D wall sculptures today. He takes graphics we expect to be flat and turns them into leaping in your face 3D sculptures that catch your attention and make his message clear. You stare at the jigsaw puzzle seeing that one dastardly piece that is always missing, exploding from the puzzle headed into oblivion. The exit sign man is making his break running out of the sign into the open air of the room. Yuki’s playful look at the two dimensional world around us creates a sense of fun, humor, and deeper communication.

Bamboo Wall Clock MOCAP by J.P.Meulendijks Design Studio

Check out this very interesting wall clock MOCAP designed by J.P.Meulendijks Design Studio. When standing in front of this bamboo wall-clock, its numbers are clear and visible, but walk around it and you’ll notice that they slowly dissolve, falling apart in a vague white fuzz. Inspired by the movie industries motion capture technology, this striking optical illusion is created by small, white balls that extend various distances from the matte black surface on pegs of the same color and appear to float effortlessly in the air.

Hold Em’ Down, Light Em’ Up.

USB thumb drives are everywhere. Many people have more than one and they’re easy to lose because of their small size. The Candle Holdem comes with 5 USB thumb drives with keychain attachments. When you plug one in, an LED lights up. From a distance, if you plug in all 5, they look like a set of candles. Now you will always know where to put your thumb drives and keys.

The Pixers.

Take a look at awesome interior projects, created by PIXERS, a group of Polish designers, involved in architecture, art and interior design. They’re “photo-walls” are incredibly unique and attention grabbing art pieces, suitable for any apartment that has adequate room. Check the method below.

Subtractive Art Pieces (Alexandre Farto).

Portuguese-born, London-based artist Alexandre Farto (Vhils) creates arresting portraits by breaking away pieces of walls. He takes his subtractive art to not only galleries and exhibition spaces but also the streets, creating larger-than-life figures in the midst of urban and underused space. Vhils generally first sketches out each piece in spraypaint, before beginning the painstaking process of chipping, sawing, and drilling away at the wall to various depths. He will often add additional color or shading to the newly exposed portions of the wall, creating a visual interplay between the untouched surface, original painted figure, and layers of underlying material. In addition to work on walls, Farto has series of subtractive portraits done by tearing away portions of billboards and posters, as well as in metal and wood.
