Smarty Ring

Smarty-Ring-5

Smart watches have been all the rage on the tech scene, but we’ve yet to see a smart ring. Well that’s exactly what Smarty Ring is, and seeing that they just surpassed their goal on IndieGoGo, this concept may soon become a reality. Rather than having to pull out your phone a hundred times a day to check for updates on Facebook, you can now get all of your text, chat, and social network notifications sent right to your fingers. Utilizing Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology, this smart ring will work on both iOS and Android powered devices (with an interactive app built for both), and also lets users manage their calls from their fingers as well. You can do everything from accepting/rejecting incoming calls to speed dial and emergency calls. There’s even a built-in butt call alert for those accidental dials. The Smarty Ring also comes with a built-in clock that displays five different time zones, and even includes a stop watch as well for training in the gym. The ring itself is crafted from allergy free surgical stainless steel, uses LED lights for the display, and includes a wireless charger.

Take a look at the result of collaboration of German vehicle division SMART and fashion designer Jeremy Scott – a limited edition electrified “ForTwo”. This electric vehicle is equipped with wings that illuminate like igniting rockets to form avant-garde rear taillights, the feature becomes the central design element of the car body, accentuating its futuristic approach to transportation. Based on the current production version of the “Smart ForTwo Electric Drive”, it has the capabilities of accelerating from 0-60 km/h (37 mph) in 4.8 seconds, achieving a top speed of 125km/h (78 mph). Its 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery enables the urban two-seater to travel approximately 145 kilometres in city traffic without producing any local emissions. Painted in bright white, chrome accents in the front headlights and grille, mirror caps, and tridion cell contrast to appear like a ‘glistening jewel’. The interior is outfitted in fine white nappa leather for the instrument panel, seats and door trim while the centre panels in the doors boast extravagant diamond stitching as a further sign of elegance and freedom.

GM’s Smart Glass Brings The Future To Life.

Long car rides, typically of the road trip variety can often be exhausting in their monotony and isolation. We don’t often think of car rides as anything more than a means of reaching a destination. We become disassociated with the other people, cars and environments that are inevitably surrounding us.

GM’s new Windows of Opportunity project was begun to explore innovative ways to use interactive technologies to create a more interesting driving experience. The project, which was inspired by psychological studies that show passengers typically feel disconnected from their environments, uses smart glass to generate augmented reality digital layers over passing landscapes.

The company commissioned students from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Israel to explore unique ways to use the smart glass technology. They were given full creative control to develop different applications regardless of whether they would be produced. The apps are primarily games but help to cultivate a stronger relationship between their users and their environments.
