Every once in a  while, you see promotional artwork that catches your eye, but the item or object the promotion is for escapes you.  Brosmind out of Barcelona, Spain, have designed the “Toasted Pets” series.  “The cutest way to keep your favorite things” is the tagline, but I’m still not exactly sure what they are.  Upon discovering the promotional video below, I was even more perplexed as to why a Spanish company would create their ad in broken English using a think Japanese accent, but HEY, normal is boring.  Made in aluminum, leather, wood and plastic, the first exclusive edition of 50 copies. Price: €130. Worldwide shipping. Click right here for availability.

Try A New Tri Lighting System.

triad_000 triad_00

With the advent of LED lights, we’re no longer restricted to the tube lights of yesteryear. Created by Jehremy Harris, the triangular Triad light was designed to explore alternatives and the result is a modern, modular system that can adapt to any space. It features an intermediate plug that acts as a sort of connector between two Triad modules. It is here that current is passed from one module to another and it also aids in holding modules together. Each unit features 3 possible connections, one on each so, so it can be endlessly expanded upon.

What Is 4D Sound?

maxresdefault-4

ViviTouch 4D Sound was developed with EAP (Electroactive Polymers). Pioneered by Bayer, EAP is an incredibly thin and flexible film that can be used as a flexible capacitor. The proprietary dielectric polymer expands when exposed to an electrical current and contracts when electricity is discharged. Stretchable electrodes are printed on either sides of the EAP film. Furthermore, by printing a specific frame pattern, a developed planer actuator acts as a new type of electrical motor converting electrical energy directly into mechanical motion.

The printed film is designed into an overthe‐ear headphone, these polymer motors move the skin around the user’s ears and generates a very realistic subwoofer experience similar to what one would normally feel only in a concert hall or movie theatre. The electro-active polymer has 10x faster response time and covers a broad frequency range. 4D Sound can generate thousands of unique sensations and enables a full spectrum of sensory sound.

Sonic Water

sonicWater01 sonicWater02 sonicWater03

The fascination of ‘sonic water’ by media artists Sven Meyer & Kim Pörksen, is rooted in their ability to aesthetically express sound as a visual experience. The installation produces constantly transforming images which react when a user adds content to the liquid mix. Water in small containers act as flexible three-dimensional sculptures that translate sounds into kinetic imagery. Through the use of  light and speakers, the water tanks produce wave patterns depending on different audible frequencies, reflecting on the process of changing chaos and order. By following the law of the golden section, the liquid soundscapes react like forces of nature, reproducing identical vibrational patterns found in the tones of the solar system. One Planet Organic Granola.

0463
After some badgering from my staff and some close friends, I’ve decided to get my act together and get a little healthier.  The first step is eating the right foods (what we put into our bodies is a direct reflection of what we can get out of them).  Which is precisely why I recently took an interest in One Planet Organic Granola.  Market places are littered with fraudulent claims of “organic” products, but One Planet has taken a different approach from the time their granola first hit shelves.
Me Packaging
Aside from the obvious benefits of the taste, One Planet works hard on every level of production to ensure their flavors come from a unique and wide variety of all natural ingredients.  100% of what goes into their flavors are certified organic, and are sourced from all over the globe.  One of the most interesting things I found out about the company is that it’s run by a Mother/Daughter team that despite the large number of orders they have to fill (for Whole Foods, Mollie Stones, Andronico’s, and in 2013 distribution in Southern California, Oregon, Arizona, Texas, as well as 115 Raley’s stores) all the granola is cooked in one kitchen by One Planet‘s founders.

Mom and I
With flavors like ‘First Love’ (Our original), ‘Ageless Wisdom’, ‘Chocolate Jubilee’, ‘Totally Free’ (Vegan and Gluten Free) and ‘Morning Magic’, the kid’s friendly flavor (Gluten Free), it’s no wonder than in two short years, the sales of One Planet‘s flavors have sky rocketed.  Each batch baked is small, and done so at low temperatures to preserve life-essential vitamins, fatty acids and enzymes.  It’s the perfect start for someone who’s trying to get healthier, or the consumer truly concerned about where the food they’re eating is healthy.
Without any added refined sugar or oil, just a touch of honey, maple syrup or agave, its great flavor, while being great for you.  Check out their website, or they’re blog about conscious living to find out more.

Slvstr ‘Season:00’ Look Book.

For a long time, I’ve been looking for clothing with simple style, that still stands out from the gambit of street wear out there right now.  Recently I found exactly what I was looking for when I was introduced to the Slvstr line.  The first collection styled to mock current luxury brands instantly intrigued me.  And Slvstr’s “Blue Panther” ideology behind the clothing got me interested in more work from the lead designer Reggie Sylvester.  To find out more check out the official site at Slvstr.com

The iDoStand iPhone Case.

This unique iPhone case is pure genius. The versatile IdoStand uses 2 seamlessly integrated arms that make it possible to prop your phone up in portrait or landscape modes at the perfect angle for recording video or Facetiming. Best of all, the design is no bigger than than other cases and, if nothing else, actually compliments the beauty of the iPhone itself.

The RIN Chair.

The Japanese word RIN means an appearance that is stunning, elegant and courageous. The idea is to create a new type of chair that is in harmony with Japanese and Danish design traditions.  Designed by Hiromichi Konno, if nothing else, this chair has one of the best photographers I’ve ever seen.

Hiromichi Konno says:

“I wanted to make a beautiful chair that can stimulate and awaken emotions in people. It must be able to appeal visually but also make us feel a form of elegance when we sit in it. Therefore, I have established something poetical, simple, strong, relaxed and innovative all at the same time. The goal from the beginning was to create the perfect chair”

See What I’m Thinking.

Based on the Fukidasi – the bubble form that is used a great deal in cartoons to express feelings or sayings – this design by Studio Foundations allows the same concept, yet to be used with real people. Programmable to say whatever you want, this bubble is sure to be hit with friends and family. If you don’t want to say it out loud, say it with a Fukidasi Bubble.

Custom Power Ranger Hoodies.

This image of awesome Power Rangers hoodies was floating around today, but it isn’t worth a damn unless you can actually get your hands on one. After a little digging I discovered that they probably originated from RangerBoard member Shoebasket who notes that he will take custom orders for $110 $85 a pop.

Bright Woods, The LED Stool Collection.

Unique and eye-catching, Bright Woods’ collection of illuminated chairs and coffee tables are sure to capture your attention with their engaging glow. I discovered this dope collection of furniture at Milan Design Week, and we’re enamored with the unique aesthetic that’s equal parts alien nation and woodland tranquility. These radiant pieces, made from wood and natural resin strips, were designed by Giancarlo Zema for the Avanzini Group and are currently on display at the Design in Nature exhibition in the Triennale Design Museum as part of the Milan Furniture Fair.

LG and fashion label Prada are collaborating for the third time to release the first LG Prada smartphone, the Prada phone by LG 3.0.  The phone combines Prada’s style with LG’s innovative technology, including one of the biggest and brightest screens in the world with 4.3inch and 800-nit screen.  Menus and the user interface are also influenced by Prada with black, grey and white menu and icons.  The Prada Phone by LG 3.0 adopts LG’s “tri-dual” design meaning it has a dual-core 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM per core, bringing a total of 1GB.  The 8 mega-pixel camera is a real highlight because it can record 1080p video at a smooth 30fps.  The PRADA Phone also supports  WiFi , 3G and Bluetooth.  On-board memory weighs in at 8GB, which is upgradable through the use of microSD cards.  The phone runs Android’s Gingerbread OS. It is planned that the handset will update to Ice Cream Sandwich in the future.

The first LG Prada, also known as LG KE850, was the world’s first mobile phone to use a touchscreen display.  Dr. Jong-seok Park, CEO of LG Eletronics Mobile Communications Company, said, “Our working relationship with PRADA is unique in its longevity and success, something no other phone company and luxury brand have been able to replicate.”  Designer labels attached to phones is not a novelty these days considering the Hugo Boss Samsung Galaxy Ace or the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 devices.

Buche de Belvedere Vodka for Christmas 2011.

In homage to the famous silver birch trees emblematic of the brand, Belvedere has chosen to “caulk” in one of them and turn into ice bucket for a perfect tasting.  Under the bark of chromed metal hides a heart of tender birch, home of a bottle of Belvedere Pure 70 cl.  Presented on a sleek clear acrylic base, the central part of the log behind the scenes and shows the bottle in the hollow section.  This bottle removed leaves room for an ice container. The log is slender, bearing the inseparable holly leaf, while the metallic version.  Buche de Belvedere Vodka is limited to only 25 pieces, available exclusively at Colette’s for 250 €.

Wood Paneled… Cupcakes?

The baking genius known as Nellie Cakes posted a photo of a rough version of these cupcake wrappers on NellieCakes.com, around summer time and since has been bombarded by request for the actual product.
It took a while, but they’re finally finished and they look insanely good.  They look exactly like wood paneling, down to the slight gloss of the real thing. They stand a half inch out of a standard cupcake tray so they will fully cover standard liners but you should still be able to see the icing and/or cupcake after wrapping them.

Givenchy’s ‘Watch The Throne’ Tour T-Shirts.

Recently, Jay-Z and Kanye West rocked the world’s most famous arena during a pair of New York performances for their much-anticipated Watch the Throne Tour. With that, we now get a detailed look at the designer T-shirt they have been donning on stage. Riccardo Tisci was in charge of the intricate art detailing of the actual album, so in appropriate fashion, both emcees have been sporting coinciding Givenchy Watch the Throne shirts. The tees not only feature unique designs from Tisci, which highlight the project, but also welcome each artist’s initials on the sleeve.

The Block Lamp.

Each part of these ingeniously designed light pieces is hand cast and undergoes an extremely long cooling process to avoid cracking later on if exposed to strong temperature changes. The matte bulb shape is sand-blasted and the electric bulb is included when you get one.  The Block Lamp has been showered with design awards including: Excellent Swedish Design in 1998, the Design Plus Award at the Ambiente Trade Fair in Frankfurt in 1999 as well as the Best New Product at the Accent Show in New York in 1999.  And probably for good reason, this thing is simple, concise, and attention grabbing design is one of a kind.

Alvaro Tapia Hildago’s Society 6 Illustrations.

Illustration is one of my hidden passions.  I love seeing the works and creations from people all around the world, and what they can come up with conceptually.  Alvaro Hildago’s illustrations are no exception.  His pieces are eerie, yet mesmerizing, and all have a unique stylized look that I just can’t ignore. And if any of his super sick illustrations strike you as intriguing, you can order them here.
