In the visuals, directed by BoyEazy, the YMCMB rapper/TV host tosses money and talks tough as a New York City skyline accents his spitting of the song’s lyrics.

Manhattan Micro Loft By Specht Harpman Architects

It’s really hard to make 425 square feet look spacious but Specht Harpman Architects managed to do just that in this once awkward New York City apartment that’s set at the top of a six-story building. By creating  living platforms, they were able to accommodate all the necessities an apartment might need while keeping the space open and bright. Helping with that was the fact that they were working with over 24 feet of vertical space, making it possible to create the multiple layers of  rooms. The compact bathroom is hidden away on the bottom floor beneath the staircase. While the kitchen is small, it remains open to the living room. They kept the cabinets and countertops white which helps keep it bright and airy. Every detail was kept simple as not to overwhelm the tight quarters and it really appears larger than the actual square footage. Up the first set of stairs you have the bedroom layer which seems to almost float above the living room below.

A shipment of skateboarding history has arrived in New York City. As part of the Go Skateboarding Day, Nike SB have created a floating skatepark on a barge just off New York City. The park pays homage to some of the city’s most legendary spots with replica banks, ledges, and stair sets from places like Brooklyn Banks, OG Seaport benches, and Pyramid Ledges. Unfortunately for NYC skaters, the park will only be around for two days from 22 – 23 June, 2013.

NYC To Install Free Phone Charging Stations

New York-based design consultancy Pensa are teaming up with solar company Goal Zero and AT&T to introduce 25 phone charging locations across New York City. Named Street Charge, the stations are entirely self sufficient with three solar panels and can be dropped anywhere in the city, such as a patch of asphalt or a patch of grass in a park, helping to fill the city’s electricity dead zones. “We wanted something that looked like it fit naturally in those natural environments,” said founder Marco Perry when speaking to Co.Design. “It’s a little bit organic, but it’s a little bit industrial. It kind of looks like a flower, but so little that it’s not kitschy. It’s more of an abstraction.” The units will run for 90 days on the exclusive contract with AT&T, but will hopefully become available on a more permanent basis soon.

The 10 most Instagrammed places of 2012

Suvarnabhumi-International-Airport

Instagram, the photo-sharing app, has released a list of the most photographed places in the world via the app in 2012, with Suvarnabhumi Airport topping the chart.According to IG, over 100,000 photos were taken via Instagram at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, over the last year, making it a surprise winner.Interestingly another Bangkok landmark, the Siam Paragon shopping mall, took second place in Instagram’s most photographed places in 2012

Overall, locations in the US were popular among Instagram users, with American landmarks occupying seven of the top ten locations, including five in Southern California. Strangely enough, landmarks that have been a traditional favorite for photographers such as the Statue of Liberty in New York, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin or London’s Big Ben did not appear on the list, though Paris’s Eiffel Tower did make an appearance in eighth place — behind Dodger Stadium and LAX.

The top ten most photographed places in the world via Instagram in 2012 were:

01.    Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) Bangkok, Thailand
02.    Siam Paragon (shopping mall) Bangkok, Thailand
03.    Disneyland Park Anaheim, California, USA

The Nolitan Hotel.

New York based practice Grzywinski+Pons collaborated with Veracity Development to complete ‘The Nolitan’, located in the Grace Nolita neighborhood of New York City.  Set to open its doors to the public on August 1, 2011, this will be the area’s first boutique hotel.  The venue will hybrid luxury and domestic comfort prioritizing access to the immediate surroundings to present an authentic local experience along with modern accommodations, amenities and food.  In addition to the conventional reservation, a personalized profile will give employees ample time to prepare for individual needs before their arrival. with only fifty five rooms, the limited capacity ensures a personalized stay for all guests.  A variety of room arrangements provides visitors with the fitting option to acclimate quickly and venture into the neighborhood with rentable bicycles and skateboards.  A glass facade at ground level along with several balconies ensures a constant visual connection to the urban landscape.  Floor to ceiling windows ensures unobstructed views of the skyline with channel glass to maintain privacy.  A comfortable lounge area with a contemporary library welcomes guests in the lobby.  The landscaped rooftop becomes a year round destination for residents and guests with shaded terraces and outdoor fireplace.
Edmond Li, owner of Veracity Development has stated:

NYC Via RC.

There are so many things folks can do in New York, but one of the first things that newcomers tend to do is take a tour.  But recently someone out in the city had the smart idea to just film a tour… and this isn’t one from a bus, a bike, or a boat.  A small camera was strapped to a professional grade remote controlled air plane, and let loose around the city.  Check the video below, the images they captured are pretty dope.
