Cheers To The First 10 Years.

Marvel Entertainment has officially revealed the cover and release date for their upcoming anniversary book, Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years. The massive 512-page book, which retails for $150, will hit stores on May 3, 2019, coinciding with the release of the still-untitled Avengers 4. It contains 250 exclusive illustrations along with over 100+ new interviews with key producers, studio heads, and tons of your favorite Marvel cast members, including Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chadwick Boseman, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Pratt, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Zoe Saldana, Evangeline Lilly, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Mackie, and more.

Marvel’s New Black Panther Trailer Drops Early.

Beginning with a very well worded monologue from Everett Ross, the newest look at Black Panther establishes that even with gods flying, and aliens dropping from the sky… no one has ever seen anything like Wakanda. I personally feel like the choice of song could be a TAD bit better, but this new preview gives us a look at various suits (and a REALLY amazing effect when the wearer activates them), some extensions on action beats from the previous trailer, and more questions about this African nation that you can shake a vibranium stick at. I Know Him! He’s A Friend From Work.

In a surprise no one saw coming, Marvel Studios has released the first teaser trailer for their highly anticipated fall release, Thor Ragnarok, and it’s pretty damn awesome.  It’s not particularly forthcoming with plot details, but we do learn why Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder hasn’t been spotted with Mjolnir in any of the early promo art as Cate Blanchett’s Hela, headdress and all, shatters his mighty hammer to Kingdom Come and takes over Asgard. The trailer also shows off nearly all of the new and returning characters and closes with our hero stepping into the Grandmaster’s arena where he reencounters an old friend from work… but it doesn’t seem like the reunion will be as joyous as he had hoped.  Check out the trailer, which is set to Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song,” below:

A Marvelous Movie Montage.

There is no other place where you can get the latest and greatest exclusive looks at new comic movie material than Comic-Con, and this year, I had no access to the internet (due to me traveling on the open seas).  Upon my return to dry land, I promptly searched the interwebs for new previews I’d missed, and ended up finding a recap of things already seen.  Marvel’s Phase 1, and Phase 2, were re-visted in a special presentation in Hall H of Comic-Con, and believe me, this is a movie montage for the ages.  Check the method below.

‘Iron Man 3’ Opens to Massive $195.3 Million Overseas

iron-man-3-2013

Marvel Studios and Disney’s Iron Man 3 has blasted into the stratosphere overseas, opening to $195.3 million from 42 markets to beat last year’s global blockbuster The Avengers, which debuted to $185.1 million internationally. Box office observers agree that Iron Man 3 is playing more like a sequel to last summer’s The Avengers — which featured a myriad of Marvel superheroes, including Downey’s Iron Man — than a follow-up to Iron Man 2, which posted a foreign opening of roughly $100 million in 2010. Iron Man 3 broke a slew of records, scoring the biggest weekend ever in Argentina, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. It also scored the top Marvel opening in another raft of markets. The tentpole broke numerous records for 113 IMAX theaters, which took in $7.2 million for a per screen average of $64,000, coming in ahead of any Marvel title, including Avengers. Teaming Robert Downey Jr. with franchise newcomer, director Shane Black, Iron Man 3 opened at the international box office ahead of its May 3 North American launch, as Iron Man 2 did in 2010.

There have been bits and pieces of this clip in many of the trailers and TV spots for Iron Man 3, but now you can see the full clip below.
