Big Ups To Big Sean.

This week, the LA Leakers on Los Angeles’ hit station Power 106 had on the iconic Big Sean for a sit down session. The Detroit rapper came with nothing but his best to discuss topics like his ability to provide for his family, his hunger and drive, and his closeness to Kobe Bryant. Spitting bars over ‘Hurricane’ from Kanye West (who’s about to change his legal name to Ye… But that’s a topic for a different post) and Drake’s ‘All Love’. The lyrics have to be heard to be absorbed, so take a look at the nearly 9 MINUTE freestyle session in the video below.

Beverly-Hills-Bachelor-Pad-by-Michael-Palumbo-1

If there was an award for the greatest bachelor pad on Earth, this Beverly Hills masterpiece would certainly be a contender for the title. 1201 Laurel Way is a modern mansion designed by Michael Palumbo and his team of architects. There are few places more desirable than Los Angeles when it comes to living destinations. Sure there’s the smog problem everyone promotes so much, but the place really is beautiful. This 6 bedroom, 10 bathroom residence takes advantage of the stunning coastline views LA has to offer with floor to ceiling windows used heavily throughout the home along with a rooftop terrace and infinity pool to really take it all in. The open floor plan creates a nice social setting, and the spacious garage has plenty of room for your McLaren, Rolls-Royce, and Aston Martin.

‘Euphony’ by los angeles-based collaborative design and fabrication studio ball nogues is a permanent architectural installation at the recently opened music city center in nashville, tennessee. Completed in may 2013, the piece is featured in a large atrium space visible from the exterior of the building. Designer benjamin ball is known for exploring the intersection of architecture, art and product design through physical modeling and the use of digital and more traditional forms of production, as seen in this latest creation. The spiral form gently curves its way down the high void. Made from intricately crafted beaded pieces, the form is at once gentle and bold, the contrasting elements reflect a soft, glowing light from the large full height windows.

The 10 most Instagrammed places of 2012

Suvarnabhumi-International-Airport

Instagram, the photo-sharing app, has released a list of the most photographed places in the world via the app in 2012, with Suvarnabhumi Airport topping the chart.According to IG, over 100,000 photos were taken via Instagram at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, over the last year, making it a surprise winner.Interestingly another Bangkok landmark, the Siam Paragon shopping mall, took second place in Instagram’s most photographed places in 2012

Overall, locations in the US were popular among Instagram users, with American landmarks occupying seven of the top ten locations, including five in Southern California. Strangely enough, landmarks that have been a traditional favorite for photographers such as the Statue of Liberty in New York, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin or London’s Big Ben did not appear on the list, though Paris’s Eiffel Tower did make an appearance in eighth place — behind Dodger Stadium and LAX.

The top ten most photographed places in the world via Instagram in 2012 were:

01.    Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) Bangkok, Thailand
02.    Siam Paragon (shopping mall) Bangkok, Thailand
03.    Disneyland Park Anaheim, California, USA
04.    Times Square New York City, New York, USA
05.    AT&T Park San Francisco, California, USA

Calvin Harris ft. Tinie Tempah – “Drinking From the Bottle”

4839.0508

In his latest music video, Calvin Harris explores the dirty side of Los Angeles via a surrogate: the devil. Hot on the heels of the video for his smash hit with Florence Welch, “Sweet Nothing,” which delved into the dark side of strip clubs, Harris’s new one features British hip hop artist Tinie Tempah and one petulant horned demon who spews crackpot philosophies on L.A.’s Sunset Strip and masquerades as the devil himself. The video rifes with explicit content, depicts a world full of sin: drug use, gang violence, booty popping, voodoo, female nudity and drinking.

Kendrick Lamar Big Boy’s Neighborhood Freestyle

Kendrick Lamar dropped his debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city. The young rapper celebrated the release in his hometown of Los Angeles and stopped by Power 106’s studios to spit a freestyle for “Big Boy’s Neighborhood.” The flow ends up lasting five minutes, and in that time he raps about fucking your mom without a condom, The Lakers, and living in Compton (among other topics).

Kendrick Lamar @ Vitamin Water’s Uncapped.

When it comes to ‘Uncapped’ shows, there’s never a dull moment, but Los Angeles rapper Kendrick Lamar attempted to outdo the whole of his predecessors with an exclusive performance of “No Make-Up (Her Vice)” featuring best coast singer Bethany Consentino. Worlds collided and it sounded awesome.

A Los Angeles Bachelor Pad.

The luxury housing market in Los Angeles, California is vast, and there is never any shortage of incredibly crafted contemporary homes. The team at Ben Bacal were looking to take things up a notch with the construction of this immaculate masterpiece located at 9909 Beverly Grove.  At first glance, the multi-colored lighting can be mistaken for that of a plush lounge, and paired with the waterfalls, steel encased bridges, roof top deck and pool, this house is the ultimate Los Angeles bachelor pad. The property features 3 bedrooms in addition to a maids and guest house to make up the 8300 square foot floor plan. The Stylish Blog Of Ms. Nicoletta Gauci.

Working as closely as models as I do now a days, I’ve become well aware of the fact that it takes quite a bit of work before guys see the photos they fawn over.  Having a photographer is an obvious must, but his/her assistants, background artists, wardrobe coordinators, and stylists are all just as crucial to making a photo shoot work as having a skilled model is.  I was on the hunt over the last few days to find a stylist for an upcoming shoot, and came across an incredible stylist from Los Angeles, CA.

The bio on her professional site reads:

Nicoletta Gauci is a unique blend of Los Angeles native with European flair. She received formal artistic training first from the Academy of Art University where the very different worlds of art principle, application, and business would first collide. Thanks to a strong line of fundamental training, most notably from the Paul Mitchell School, and a continual thirst for education and experience, she has been able to achieve great heights early in her career. This now even-stronger combined foundation outlined a path that would take her to new depths as a hair stylist.

Nicoletta has styled hair for numerous editorial and beauty shoots as well as for celebrity personalities and marketing campaigns. Her work has also taken her into the world of art direction for magazine submissions as well as education for both future and current hairstylists. Currently Nicoletta is based outside of Milan, Italy and splits her time between being lead colorist at Italys premiere Paul Mitchell Focus Salon, collaborating as part of Paul Mitchell Italias Artistic Team, and shooting Internationally. Her days are spent traveling with a smile on her face, brush in her hand and desire to share her bliss with the world.

Now, aside from her body of professional work, she runs a blog that would make even the most seasoned stylist feel a tad bashful.  On NicolettaGauci.WordPress.com there are a staggering amount of interesting concepts, ideas, styles, pictures videos and content by which virtually any reader could become hooked.  I don’t normally site too many other blog sites through my own, but this one is site to take a look at.  Click the photos either above or below to see Nicoleta Gauci’s blog.

John Wright’s Conceptual Photography.

John Wright is a superb and talented photographer who’s shot modern-day rock and roll royalty like U2, Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. At 42 years old, he hails from Glasgow but works and lives in Los Angeles. Coming from a working class background and, despite the fact he’s now working in the field of celebrity photography he still stays true to his roots saying, “What I do now doesn’t define me, in the same way as where I grew up didn’t define me either.”

Tyler The Creator Is Shelling Out Money.

Tyler, The Creator has reportedly handed over approximately $8,000 to the owners of a Los Angeles nightclub to cover damages from a gig in December.  The hip-hop star played with his band Odd Future at the Roxy Theater on Sunset Boulevard, but the rapper was led away in handcuffs at the end of the show after he was arrested for allegedly lashing out at a sound man and destroying stage equipment.

He was left facing a vandalism charge over the incident, but has now made amends with the venue owners by paying for the damage, according to TMZ.com.

The website reports…

Tyler – real name Tyler Okonma – is set to meet with the local District Attorney who will ask the star to help pay for the police investigation in return for dropping the charges.

Asher Roth – Dope Sh*t (Official Video).

Asher Roth may have released his mixtape ‘Pabst & Jazz’ a little while ago, but the single “Dope Sh*t” just got own video recently.  The song talks about the difference between what the radio typically plays versus the music that some entertainers would prefer to have out there.  With a great hook and a subtle but well produced beat, the video for “Dope Sh*t is simply that… dope sh*t.  Check the method below.

The Pop Up Shop 2011.

On a recent venture down to The City Of Angels, I was asked to DJ a gig called the Pop Up Shop.  The Pop Up Shop was a brilliant joint venture between ‘Team Iso’, ‘Rockit Scientists’, ‘Class Villians’, ‘Phreedom’, ‘Boomtho!’ and a whole host of other amazing brands to display their latest and greatest works at the Dream Factory.  Not to be confused with the Fantasy Factory, the Dream Factory is a one of a kind art gallery on Main Street in downtown LA.  I spun the all day event as all the brands and their representers were out in full effect.

Now, this is the part that will undoubtedly cause me to get a whole host of angry emails about how I cut people out, and forgot about this person and that person, but I don’t care.  All the brands that were in the house worked their hardest to come through with the best product they had to offer.  Every size of every color-way or every look and every style of every piece were award worthy, hands down.  And that being said, I have to be honest, I was a bit busy doing my job to get the background on every single brand in the building (there were quite a few), but below are a few peeks at some of the material from ‘Rockit Scientists’, ‘Team Iso’, ‘Class Villains’, and ‘Boomtho!’.  Check the method.

All in all the event was a blast, and I have to try and shoot out everyone who helped everything run as smoothly as it did, starting with my amazing assistant Ashley F., who not only held it down at the event, but also managed to take all the photos in this post.  Shouts to Keoni, Brittany, Louis V, Lil Ryan, and the whole Team Iso crew.  Nico Santana, Reg Slvstr, DT, and everyone else involved with the Rockit Scientists.  All of NhT, and every other performer who hit the stage to perform during the evening.  And shouts to all and everyone who came through to support their brands, and most of all, anyone who bought something at the gallery.  (You helped us get paid… so THANK YOU).  By the end of the night, everyone was like family (on my twitter, you can see us all grubbing at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffels on Pico), and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  Hit me up in a comment if you want the details on the next one, or any of the brands pictured in this post.

I’m In L.A. Trick.

As I normally do for vacations, I always put up one last post so readers know why I’ve stopped posting all of a sudden.  This weekend, I’ll be at U.S.C. for homecoming once again.  And this year, (just like LAST YEAR) I’m sure things are going to be a rawkus jumble of work, fun, and excessive drinking.  So that being said, if your a religious post reader, sit tight until Monday when I can cure my soon to be hangover and get back to work.  But if your still a bit impatient, catch up with all the mischief on twitter @YoungStark where I’ll be posting up anything interesting live as it occurs.

Tequila Alquimia.

It’s quite a well known fact amongst my closest friends and colleagues that I’m somewhat of a tequila connoisseur.  It’s also quite a well circulated myth that all I drink is Jose Cuervo, but I wanted to lay that one to rest right now.  After a night out with a few friends, I was introduced to the wonders of Tequila Alquimia, and I’ve been raving about it ever since.  Based primarily in southern California, Alquimia has won multiple awards including #1 on GQ’s hot tequila list, and is made from only the finest organic blue agave.  I know the concept of organic tequila might seem a little strange to some people, but hey… I try to be as healthy as possible.  Hopefully in the future they’ll expand past California, so I can grab a bottle no matter where in the world I grab a drink.  You can check more about Alquimia, their assortment of flavors, and other info at www.tequilaalquimia.com.
