You Gotta Stop By Bansko, Bulgaria’s ‘Flash Club’.

flash3 flash flash1

Off-hand, one might not think of an ancient Bulgarian town at the foot of the Pirin Mountains as the location of a night club whose design was inspired by the Disney science fiction movie TRON:Legacy.  Yet the Flash Club in Bansko fits right in with the smart set of this European ski resort that is also known for its jazz and pop music scene.  Sofia, Bulgaria-based Studio Mode with chief designer and founder Svetoslav Todorov at the helm created an eerie pulsating and swirling atmosphere through the use of reflecting surfaces and massive circular forms.  State-of-the art sound and lighting schemes complete the illusion of an otherworldly experience .  VIP podiums link up with the bar through beams of light while the reflections off the surfaces amplify the space and produce an impression of infinity.

The Wrecking Orchestra’s Tron Dance.

tron_legacy_promo_image_disc_game_03There are many impressive dance groups out there, all deserving of recognition, but not too many videos have had as much impact as the ‘Tron Dance’ from The Wrecking Orchestra.  This video isn’t the newest, but I felt the need to throw it up simply because every time I run into it on the web, I just can’t help remember how excited I was the first time I saw it.  Check the method below.

The Anotomy Of A Mashup.

Mashups are all over the place, they come and go, and are part of the music entertainment world. But few people outside of the select few know what it takes to compile a solid mashup. Fortunately I was told that one of the incredible Daft Punk mashups I’ve acquired recently from Cameron Adams, came with a chart of all the songs it was blended with, and a real time map of the mixing. Click the pic below (or above) to see this intricate and interesting look about the making of a mashup.

The West Coast Customs Tron R8.

Tron has inspired a lot of new projects and probably the best one is the Audi R8 that was recently presented at the CES 2011 . Tuned by Pimp My Ride and with a chrome-plated new design from West Coast Customs, the ride features glowing vents and rims. See it shining in the video below.

Get Your Own Light Cycle.

Just in time for Tron: Legacy, a Florida bike shop put together 10 custom-built, street-legal Tron Light Cycle lookalikes. For a cool $55,000, you could be riding one to the Dec. 17 premier.  According to Jeff Halverson of Parker Brothers Choppers, each bike features a steel frame, fiberglass bodywork and a V-twin engine from a Suzuki TLR1000. Stopping power comes from a custom made friction drum that keeps the bike true to the look of Daniel Simon’s latest Light Cycle design. Customers have a choice between actual gauges and an iPad dock that displays vital statistics on the iPad’s touchscreen.  Though the bike looks like it drove straight off the movie screen, it’s not a replica or recreation since the Light Cycles in both Tron films were virtual. “We basically used the images we could get off the web in order to make the bike,” said Halverson. “Keep in mind, no one ever made this bike before.”  The bike weighs 474 pounds and is just over 100 inches long and 23 inches wide. The rider sits (lies?) 28.5 inches off the ground. Halverson said that it rides like any sportbike, though we’ve gotta wonder with that huge front tire.

Tron Vs. Marvel

After catching a glimpse at the Japanese Tron: Legacy Poster, I got curious about more extra little goodies surrounding the release of Tron.  One of the ones I couldn’t believe was the mash between Tron and Marvel. To celebrate the release of Disney’s Tron: Legacy, Marvel is going to release an awesome collection of variant covers that re-imagine the classic Marvel superheroes as Tron characters.  Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and more—re-interpreted out in the unique visual style of the TRON universe…. Check the method below.
