Slice (Official Trailer)


There’s a new horror comedy on the way from A24 and first-time director Austin Vesely, and it looks like it could be a blast.  Slice stars Deadpool 2 standout Zazie Beetz and Chance the Rapper as two survivors of an ongoing pizza delivery massacre in a spooky small town, who set out to catch the culprits. Unfortunatly for them, this leads to a conspiracy involving a ghost, a werewolf, demonic possession and a gateway to hell.  The red band trailer definitely has a nice throwback feel, which is only elevated by the presence of Stranger Things actor Joe Keery in a supporting role. Sydney’s ‘Prettiest’ Beach House.

From the beginning, Pretty Beach House set a new standard not just because of its exquisite location and its exclusive home-like setting of just four private villas, but it also exceeded all expectations in terms of cuisine.  We stayed there every year and consistently kept it on our 10 best places to stay list, together with Castello Di Reschio in Italy , El Palauet in Barcelona land Saffire in Tasmania.  But it late 2012, a fire destroyed much of the main pavilion and our favorite resort closed for more than two years for complete restoration.  The main pavilion is elegantly restored with decommissioned railway timbers from 1883 and each of the four pavilions – Treetops, Bayview, Hideaway and The Retreat – are beautifully appointed with works and craftsmanship of local and international artists and artisans.

The resort continues its tradition as a foodies paradise with its spectacularly cool new kitchen led by distinguished chefs and restaurateurs, Stefano Manfredi and Julie Manfredi Hughes, whose incredible cuisine impresses us every single time.  The interior design of the villas is un-pretentious and  beautifully fitting for the environment. Natural fibres, muted colours and restful accents create a perfect setting for the views of the incredible landscape with hundreds of old gum trees standing there like living sculptures.  The villas interiors are luxurious but not over the top and feature raw, natural materials which blend in with the more ‘designer’ elements. Privacy is paramount which is why, three of the four villas also has its own private swimming pool. The villas have their own old school record player along with a selection of vinyl, iPods with songs already loaded on it, king size beds have linen sheets, bathtubs and wireless internet (for online-junkies) so there’s nothing else to do but slide from day bed to pool and back again in a haze of sedation, facilitated by attentive staff who materialise at your every whim.

Altaeros Energies

Altaeros Energies, the wind energy company formed out of MIT, announced that its Alaska demonstration project is set to break the world record for the highest wind turbine ever deployed. At a height 1,000 feet above ground, the BAT (buoyant airborne turbine) project, will be over 275 feet taller than the current record holder for the highest wind turbine, the vestas v164-8.0-mw. The BAT has been designed to generate consistent, low cost energy for the remote power and microgrid market, which is currently served by expensive diesel generators. The wind turbines will be used to power remote and island communities; agriculture, disaster relief organizations, and even military bases.

Production has begun on Italian boat company jet capsule‘s latest invention, a private 5 person and nine person taxi version. After the initial concept presentation five years ago, the unusual form was finally unveiled at the 2013 monaco show, where the design team sought to create a floating transportation device that was different from all others on the market. The innovation, which is 7,5 meters long and 3,5 meters wide is a fully customizable product that allows several configurations, including one with transformable sofas, a boat taxi with large seats and a luxury version with integrated comfort features. Several other versions are currently under development for ambulance and emergency purposes. The current capsule model has a built-in hydro-jet system that can be equipped with one or two engines, but the team are also working on the first electrically powered design to be presented in june 2014. All the jets come with an international sail certification and can navigate and operate in any country/region, and waves of up to 4 meters.

Official Unveiling of the Simpsons LEGO Set

LEGO has finally unveiled the official “Simpsons” LEGO brick set. Created in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, the set will allow fans to build and recreate their very own version of The Simpsons house. The set will only go on sale on 1st February 2014. The toy company will also be releasing a set of Simpsons minifigs in May. The set will be priced at US$200, while the minifigs will go at $4 each. The set will feature the entire Simpson’s house, and minifigs of the show’s main characters, namely Homer, Bart, Marge, Maggie, Lisa and Ned Flanders.

The leaders of the motocross apparel company, Fox Head, Inc. approached a company in November 2011, with the goal of relocating their headquarters from Morgan Hill, in Northern California, to Irvine, California. They wanted a space that would inspire their staff and encouraged CWa to challenge preconceptions about how an office space can work and how this warehouse shell could become a cutting edge creative house. The industrial warehouse on Armstrong Avenue in Irvine offered an opportunity of consolidating the company in one open, creative environment. The design solution for the 82,000 sq. ft. space evolved from the desire to create a functional yet playful environment that befits the Fox image. Equally significant was the company’s desire for an open, flexible and collaborative work environment for its employees.

Traditional urban planning concepts were utilized to provide the architectural frame to foster a community centered around place, interaction and innovation. A Main Street concept, individual task-oriented neighborhoods, park-like landscape elements and circulation-oriented ‘facades’ were each enlisted to create a community unique to the company’s culture. On the exterior, a sculptural addition was proposed to accommodate Fox’s main entrance and provide an identifying landmark. Existing and new infrastructure are exposed and coordinated to enhance the architecture, while the warm palette of reds, oranges and yellows reference the original brand colors of Moto-X Fox while differentiating the ‘monuments’ in the city from the muted background. The resulting ‘city’ is a reflection of the company’s character: an open and creative workplace that fosters interaction between varied groups of specialists.

Aston Martin over the years have created and crafted some of the Worlds most recognizable and iconic cars and this year the company celebrate 100 years in the industry. As part of this celebration commercial car photographer Tim Wallace has been commissioned by our client Aston to produce a major book looking through the 100 years to celebrate all the models in the Aston range from the very first model that David Brown created to the latest super cars from the Aston stable such as the DBS and new Vanquish. This week Tim spent time shooting with the iconic 2 Litre Sports created way back in the 40s for the book that is anticipated for release later this year Worldwide.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars published last Tuesday the first official image of its new model Wraith, which will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2013. The BMW-owned luxury car company is being typically vague about what potential owners can expect from the new vehicle, other than that it will do justice to the name Wraith, a powerful V6 Rolls-Royce developed in 1938. Of the new car, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said:

Expect the boldest design, the most dramatic performance and the most powerful Rolls-Royce that has ever played host to the famous Spirit of Ecstasy figurine.

Rick Ross Re-Signs Promotional Deal With Diddy’s Ciroc Vodka

Over these last couple years, Diddy‘s Ciroc brand Vodka has become well known in Hip Hop through wide-ranging product placement and artist co-signs. Now, it appears that Rick Ross has re-signed his contract with the popular liquor brand. From AllHipHop, Ross has re-signed with Ciroc Vodka as an ambassador for the brand. With this deal Ross will have Ciroc-sponsored live shows, in addition, placement in select promotional materials for the company.

The ‘NEW’ Black Card. Go Get One.


Money isn’t something I like to talk about all too often, and many of my affluent friends are the same way.  So I’m not going to rat anyone out, but I know a few people with Black Cards.  Almost a year ago, I heard from someone that Black Cards were no longer being distributed, and I was a bit perplexed.  But now, the world’s richest individuals can now shop and swipe in style with the new release of the JP Morgan Palladium credit card.  The card is made of palladium—a rare silvery metal that resembles platinum—and 23 karats of gold.

The JP Palladium credit card itself is worth a whopping $1,000.  The JP Morgan Palladium credit card offers benefits and features unlike any other credit cards currently on the market.  The typical JP Morgan Palladium cardholder will have an estimated 30 million dollars in savings and can only become a cardholder if he or she belongs to a private bank.  The annual fee to use this new credit card is just short of $600, a price that seems rather small considering that the credit card bears no limit.  But all in all hopefully this shiny new ‘proof of wealth’ will bring a little bit more… class, to the non CEO’s who have money.  Unlike some folks with the Black Card.

Aston Martin for iPhone?


Following on from the success of the free ‘Explore’ App released in December 2010, Aston Martin announces the release of the premium ‘Experience’ App.  Apparently developed with the “same ethos” with which Aston Martin designs and engineers its cars, the new app combines some of the functionality of the automaker’s former app, Explore, with some new, premium features.  The most useful is a partnership with luxury city guide series “A Hedonist’s Guides” to provide guides to 40 global cities, with images and video for each destination.  A database of some of the world’s best driving roads is also included, allowing drivers to ‘check in’ to each one to share their experiences, while the app features a speedometer overlaid onto the camera display, capable of measuring the speed at which the iPhone is traveling.  Best of all, the app comes preloaded with Aston Martin sounds, meaning that if you can’t shell out for one of the company’s £80,000 ($116,000) supercars, you can listen to the sound one would make while going about your everyday business.  The app itself is rather expensive, costing £3.49 in the UK and $5.99 in the US — but at least it’s cheaper than an Aston Martin.  The top-end British brand isn’t the only marque to be found in the App Store — Bentley offers its Pure Bentley app and Rolls-Royce offers a Ghost app that allows users to customize its cars from their iPhone.
