Foods In All Their Colors.

kitchen-5 kitchen-4

Photographer and food enthusiast Brittany Wright sets up intricate culinary still lifes that focus primarily on the differentiation of fruits’ and vegetables’ coloration. Wright captures a rainbow of colors in foods ranging from heaps of apples to carrots plucked freshly from the earth. Each photograph focuses on the produce against a stark white background, a way to display the food’s vibrant shades without distraction.

The Seattle-based photographer is fascinated by capturing the aging process of vegetable and fruits, displaying the variety of forms each piece takes during ripening and decay. Wright even includes fruit harvested from her own backyard, photographing raspberries both plump and shriveled.  Wright’s client list is diverse, including brands Dry Soda and Samsung as well as (appropriately) several farms. You can see more colorful gradients and food-based imagery on Wright’s Instagram.

Microsoft Making A Smartwatch

microsoft_smartwatch_01

As Apple continue to hire talent to work on their supposed “iWatch” project, Microsoft are rumored to already be planning to retaliate with a smartwatch of their own. Several weeks back it was reported that Microsoft placed orders for 1.5″ screens and now trusted sources have told AmongTech that the smartwatch is already being used as prototype and will be available in a variety of colors – blue, red, yellow, black, white, and grey. The outside housing will be made from Oxynitride Aluminium – a type of aluminium that is 80% transparent and four times harder than glass. The source also said that the device will include an adapted version of Windows 8 and will work with Cloud storage (plus 6GB internal storage) and 4G LTE. If the rumors turn out to be true, expect this to be unveiled sometime in late 2014.

Pool Party

Pools are not exactly the most projection ready surface, and initial brainstorms produced many more challenges than this team had anticipated. In researching a solution, they had to overcome the fact that projection doesn’t work on the surface of water, it becomes distorted if you project through it, and pool parties are notorious for more standing than swimming. Most people reacted as any any normal person would, and promptly put in and order for 65,000 ping pong balls, enough to cover the entire surface of the pool. To go with their new screen, they created an application which mapped to the pool and displayed a floating river of graphics, pulled by an invisible tide. Audio reactive visuals bumped along with the various dj’s and musical acts taking place poolside. The tactile quality of swimming through ping pong balls, combined with animated colors and light created an interactive event worth telling stories about.

Incredible Photos By Theo Gosselin.

The lighting, colors, composition, exposure, everything is amazing in Theo‘s photographs. This nineteen year old guy from France can easily become your favorite photographer. Just take a look at these great pictures.

Lumenworks – Rainbow Star.

About a month ago, I had the pleasure of receiving the Rainbow Star Cutey by Lumenworks. I have a major weakness for groovy lighting, especially ones that change colors. This sweet little beast of a light is a smaller version to Lumenworks Rainbow Star light. Its base is made of metal and the transparent acrylic top is the icing on the cake for this little beauty. When I plugged it in the first time, I made sure that I was in a dark room where no light could enter in. The treat I received once the Rainbow Star Cutey started its rotation of colors left me relaxed and oddly enough, feeling quite cheerful. I couldn’t wait for the rest of my family to take part in this delightful eye treat. Needless to say, I have become quite addicted to its soothing effects and when I want to just chill and release the stresses of the day, I turn off the lights and turn on the Cutey. Not only would this little jewel be good for mellowing out, but put on some lively music, dim the lights just a hair and liven the ambiance of your party.

AIAIAI x WESC Headphones.

In days gone by, headphones were the size of half-a-head and blocked out the entire outside world. The audio was amazing but you sweated profusely because of the generous foam padding… And you looked idiotic.  Through several mutations, we then ended up at the other extreme, with minuscule earbuds that nearly vanished in your ear — and you still looked dorky.

Now, we have moved on to “audio fashion wear” that combines the best of all worlds. Copenhagen’s AIAIAI with its design partners at Kilo has come up with stylish, light-weight Tracks Headphone Series that combines toned-down nostalgic looks with superior sound quality.  A leather version of Tracks, in natural and black, is apparently in the works as well.
