A calendar with a difference not only does this calendar boast a unique geometric design, but it also has heat-sensitive ink on each day hiding a fascinating fact. Simply choose your date, touch the black square and watch it disappear to magically show a fact about that specific day in history. The blank ink only disappears temporarily so once the square has cooled, the fact is then hidden again. Plus, the unique design provides space for you to write down all your daily tasks too.

Puzzle Calendar.

Dia is a clever twist on the calendar that provides an interactive and fun way to interpret passing time. The system was created by Goncalo Campos and is based on 366 (one extra for leap years) modified puzzle pieces that can link to any neighboring piece, allowing you to create a visual expression of how you see the year. It won’t help keep track of daily tasks, but after it’s completed it can be kept as a framed keepsake to reflect on years passed.

The 2011 Miss Reef Calendar Video.

I know quite a few questions will be thrown my way right after readers glimpse the title.  But I’m well aware that 2011 is almost long gone.  That being the case, the folks over at ‘Reef Guys’ know their women no matter what year it is.  Check the video of their brilliant 2011 calendar below.  (And don’t ask why I didn’t know about it until now… I’ll be asking myself the same question all 2012.)

“The Lovely Bones”.

Medical imaging firm EIZO wanted to come up with a catchy giveaway that highlighted their expertise in “high-precision displays for the examination and diagnosis of radiographs.” The result, dreamt up by German ad firm BUTTER: A pin-up calendar in which women, truly, truly bare all. As the promotion concept puts it, “Very popular among craftsmen but quite new for medics: Pin-up calendars. At last, one which shows absolutely every detail.”

Enter The “Chrono Shredder”

Wall clock, calender, and mortality reminder all wrapped up in one odd work of (post)modern art. The so-called ‘Chrono Shredder’ provides a palpable physical reminder that all things are temporary, and we can never wind back time in this world. Created by Susanna Hetrich, the simple red box shreds each day’s calender page as it passes, and leaves the tangled paper strands to curl, bunch and pile up on the floor in a messy heap. This fits right in the middle of her portfolio of creative work, which ranges from abstract installation artworks to apparel and photography. She considers the calender a kind of performance art piece (albeit robotic rather than human in nature), and it is never stationary: each day slowly shreds in realtime so that minute changes are visible even on an hourly or second-to-second basis if one is watching closely. While not yet for sale, she does have plans to release a limited-edition version at some time in the future.  Super dope.
