Bence Bakonyi took some amazing pictures with the help of Kira Koroknai for the eerie Floating.  Pushing these limits of photography helped them to create a certain tension between the actual space (the set), and the subject photographed (people).

Mimic Octopus

Of all the amazing octopus species out there, the mimic octopus,Thaumoctopus mimicus, is perhaps the most bewildering. While most known octopuses are able to change color and shape for camouflage, mimic octopuses can also impersonate other animals to deter would-be predators. They can contort their bodies and long, striped arms to look–and swim–like other (less edible) sea life, including lionfish, sole and banded sea snakes. These implausible creatures were only first discovered by scientists in the 1990s in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Since then, the mimic octopuses have been found in various waters around that island country, but not too much farther afield. They are generally active during the day but live primarily on obscuring sandy or muddy sea floors–down to about seven meters.

But these odd octopuses have now made a confirmed appearance on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, more than 2,000 kilometers from where they were first described. Divers had reported sightings of these strange cephalopods in recent years, but Darren Coker, a researcher at James Cook University’s ARC Center for Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, verified this species’ presence there, in a report published online earlier this month in Marine Biodiversity Records. This animal’s presence on the Great Barrier Reef also suggests that the reef itself is home to even more exotic animals that we previously imagined. The Great Barrier Reef may contain many more undocumented species from the Indo-Pacific region. But due to the limited familiarity…new species are going undocumented.

Awesome People Doing Awesome Things.

Talent is all over the planet in every shape, form, size, and can come from people of any age.  I’ve posted up a few videos of amazing people doing amazing things before, but the original ‘Awesome People Doing Awesome Things’ is one of the greatest to behold.  Take a look below.

‘The Amazing Spiderman’ 4 Minute Trailer.

Following its debut during the season premiere of “America’s Got Talent,” Sony Pictures has now brought online the 4-Minute Super Preview for The Amazing Spider-Man which you can watch below.  The trailer features a bridge scene from the movie that’s in all honesty pretty bad-ass, (and even shows how Parker deals with children with no concept of saving their own lives.)  HOWEVER, if you don’t want to spoil what I’m sure is an incredible scene in the movie, I suggest you skip this one.

A Pimp With Two Paddles And Some PVC Pipes.

I tend to get thrown some crazy videos when I’m working with my staff on blog posts, but I rarely bounce them onto the blog simply because I don’t really relate to it, or its honestly just not that good.  The video below however is falls into neither of those categories.  With all the research I’ve done, I still can’t find this kid’s name for the life of me, but he deserves a medal, or record deal, or a blowjob from every girl that was in the room while he pulled off this performance.  Said genius below starts off playing a tune on a cleverly constructed (yet simplistic) PVC pipe organ wit two paddles, and plays for about 6 minutes.  Now being a DJ, I know how hard it can be to transition between songs on turntables while keeping the audience interested, not making every transition the same, bridging the gap between genres, keeping the BPM’s the same, and playing songs that any given group of listeners will enjoy… all at the same time.  But I could never imagine doing that ALL with two paddles and some PVC pipe.  Check the awesomeness below… and wait till the very last song when his surprise guest jumps in and gets busy.

For many, the idea of traveling mean having new experiences with new people, absorbing new cultures, and becoming familiar with different ways of life. For other people, it’s all about the visuals. The sights you see when your in new places are always something that people keep with them, and nothing can keep a visual memory better than a photo. I know seeing a picture is nothing like the real thing, but you can’t help but admit, the 16 photos in this collection are amazing.

People Are Awesome.

Professional athletes are some of the select few people who know what it means to push your body to the limit, but they aren’t the only ones.  People are capable of amazing things, and a video I saw recently online is proof of that.  Apparently the video has over 29 MILLION views already, so I don’t really think this classifies as ‘new’, however, it’s still incredibly impressive.  Check the method below.

Super-Sick BMX

I specialize in club events, but it’s always been a prospective project of mine  of mine to host/sponsor a skate or BMX competition, so when I decided to take the concept a little further, the first step was research.  Upon my search, I came across one of the sickest BMX videos I’ve seen to date.  Check the method below.

The 1-Man Rave Party.

I’ve seen tons of surprising things in 2010, but I’d have to say that one of the most impressive ones that I can share has to be the “Drum-and-Bass” beatbox.  The first time I saw this video I was totally floored. This guy is definitely a one man rave.

Freerunning Frenzy.

I’m a huge admirer of all things extraordinary, so its no mystery why I find Parkour fascinating.  The art of traversing elements in both urban and rural settings, can be seen as philosophy by some of its practitioners, but to someone on the outside of the “free running” world, I just see it as pretty damn cool.  Check out some pictures and videos of what I think is one of the dopest arts on the planet.
