Time To Enroll In Your ‘Deadly-Class’.

Deadly Class fans were treated to a hell of a surprise when the first episode of the TV adaptation went online this morning. SyFy is currently hosting the pilot for free via its YouTube channel to get viewers pumped up for the series’ actual premier on January 16th. The pilot introduces audiences to Marcus, a homeless teenager in 1980s America who gets recruited by a school for the next generation of deadly assassins. It’s a chaotic, action-packed, fever dream of a show complete with a punk rock soundtrack and aesthetics.  For those of you who would rather be surprised, do not watch the hour long video below, however, if you won’t mind the wait, then by all means, enjoy this incredible first episode to what will hopefully be an amazing first season to a great, fresh show.

Disney x Star Wars = Star Wars Land?

On Christmas morning, Disney shared a behind-the-scenes update on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the massive 14-acre new Star Wars-themed land opening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios next year. But if you were too busy to sit through the entire show for your sneak peek, Disney has now shared the video online.

The video features brief commentary from some key figures responsible for bringing Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to life. “It will be jaw-dropping and incredibly emotional to walk into the land for the first time,” promises Carrie Beck, VP of Lucasfilm Story Group. “To actually be standing there amongst the buildings, amongst the ships, and have this feeling that it is all real. That it has been brought to life. And it is right there in front of you – it’s overwhelming.”

The behind-the-scenes video also features more details and updated footage from Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the two attractions that will be featured in Galaxy’s Edge. While we’ve known for a while now that Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will put guests in the cockpit of the fastest ship in the galaxy, the Rise of the Resistance ride has been a little more mysterious. The video finally sheds light on what park guests can expect from “the most epic attraction” Disney has ever built.

How Do You Design Remarkable?

Years of development and attention to the subtlest nuances of the handwriting experience has made reMarkable as paper-like as it gets. Their patented CANVAS display gives you a true paper feel.

Liquid Portals.

Every catch the reflection off a puddle just right, and catch an amazing reflection?  Well ‘Local Preacher’ has, and luckily for us, he had his camera with him.  Check out his incredible body of work created from these bodies of water.

Now You Can Print Your Own Bike?

Apart from the electronics, and the rider, every ounce of the BigRep Nera is 3D printed. From the handlebars, to the body, to the seat, suspension, and even the tires, the Nera is an absolutely stunning feat of design and engineering melded together to show how far additive 3D printing has come. The e-bike’s body comes with an edgy, chiseled design that gives it character and strength, and even includes a flexible bumper underneath the seat to absorb shock. Even the airless tires are made from 3D printing, with a lattice structure that gives it both strength and flexibility, allowing it to mimic natural rubber tires.

A 3D printer selling company, BigRep came to limelight with their airless bicycle tires that we featured earlier this year. The Nera takes BigRep’s PRO FLEX filament and TPU printing technology to the next step, not only by building an entire vehicle out of it, but by building a much more powerful vehicle that tests the material on a much more advanced level. What’s next… a sportscar? A manned drone?? Who knows!

The DJ Earworm Addresses The United States Of Pop…. 2018.

For more than a decade, DJ Earworm has been blending the year’s top songs into a massive “United States of Pop” mashup at the end of each year. He began the series in 2007, kicking off with a combo of songs from Soulja Boy, Akon, Avril Lavigne, Rihanna, Fergie, and more. It’s been 11 years since that inaugural mashup, and Earworm hasn’t slowed down in the slightest.  His 2018 edition just made its YouTube debut on December 4, highlighted by tracks from Ariana Grande, Post Malone, Zedd, Childish Gambino, Marshmello, and more.

The four-minute mashup kicks off with songs from Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line, and Maroon 5 and Cardi B, before cycling through Drake‘s iconic “In My Feelings,” Bruno Mars and Cardi B’s “Finesse,” Travis Scott and Drake’s “Sicko Mode,” and dozens others.  Regardless of your personal taste in music, any TRUE DJ has to admit that this is an impressive feat to accomplish.  Take a listen.

This Plate Will Have ANYthing Lookin Like A Snack.

Studies show that the color of the plate can often change your perception of how food tastes. For example, serving desserts on a white plate can enhance their sweetness by making their colors seem more saturated… and that tricks your brain into thinking they’re sweeter! In 1957 marketing pioneer Louis Cheskin reported that adding 15 percent more yellow to green in 7UP cans caused consumers to perceive the soft drink as having a more lemony-limey flavor. That’s probably why Sprite, although clear, comes in a colored bottle… or why desserts are designed to look so pretty. Appearance and plating can alter your perception of taste, and is a great way to improve the impact the food has on your pallet.

Now imagine you’ve got yourself a delicious tenderloin, and the option of a simple plastic plate, versus a gentle grill with burning embers below. Undoubtedly, a smokey, ember-y plate would help accentuate the steak’s flavor, while a boring plastic plate would simply be a blank canvas that wouldn’t do much to augment the steak’s taste. While you can’t set up a grill with burning embers every time you want to eat a steak, the Eatense plate helps set the ambiance.  The Eatense is a serving-plate with a dynamic display underneath. Built explicitly for serving food, the display is built to withstand heat and is water-proof, but most importantly, it helps create the perfect canvas for your meal. Whether it’s a bamboo texture for plating dimsums, or a decorative candy plate for a cake or a pastry, or even a chargrill for that steak, the Eatense makes your food look perfect, and taste perfect too.

The Eatense plate comes bundled with an Eatense app that lets you choose patterns, textures, or animations to display on the plate. You can even use the plate to guide people through a gastronomic experience by listing ingredients, or by telling people what to eat first. Conversely, the plate can also be customized to display a personalized text message like a birthday wish, the name of the person who ordered the food (like Starbucks for plates) or even a message from the chef. The plates are hermetically sealed and can be easily washed like regular dishes. They even come with a protective upper layer that resists heat and prevents scratching by cutlery. The plates charge wirelessly too, allowing you to dock them on their charging base when not in use.

Plating and presentation form a major part of the gastronomic experience, and can often be the difference between a great meal and an average one. The Eatense helps build the experience your food and your palate deserve, by being a powerful presentation tool. Ideal for restaurants, gatherings, special occasions, or even to gift friends who love cooking and food prep, the Eatense helps take food that one step further. By making desserts taste sweeter, salads taste fresher, meats taste smokier, and enhance the cultural and gastronomical relevance of any food you eat.

Eatense is the world’s first customizable plate. Equipped with a digital display and a smartphone app, it allows you to personalize your plate with tons of unique designs and photos.  With Eatense, you can plate food like a chef.  Well plated food looks delicious and brings out the joy of dining together.  Surprise your guests with a custom message during their meals and make special occasions even more memorable.  You can leave a message on the screen like, “Happy Birthday,” “Happy Mother’s Day,” and “I love you.”  Perfect for restaurants.  Eatense can display texts or food information on the screen. For instance, you can show your guests what the ingredients are and where they originate from. It enhances your guests’ dining experience.

The New ‘Men In Black’ Is Here.

Sony Pictures has just dropped the first trailer for Men In Black International, and it looks like a damn good time.  The trailer gives us a much better idea of what to expect from the plot, as it’s revealed that Tessa Thompson’s character actually tracks down MIB after learning of the top-secret agency’s existence 20 years prior.  After ingratiating herself to Agent O (Emma Thompson), she’s given the moniker Agent M and partnered up with Chris Hemsworth (H), who definitely seems to be channeling The God of Thunder from Thor: Ragnarok for this role.

Reebok: Be More Human.

Reebok #BeMoreHuman—Working with Venables Bell + Partners I created a hand-drawn typeface that could be adapted by other designers to form distinctive lettering work for their new Reebok #BeMoreHuman campaign. I only created the typeface with many alternatives Venables Bell + Partners created the photography, layouts, lettering and other adaptations.  The campaign was celebrating strong women who have made positive changes to the world in unique ways. It featured stars Gal Godot, Ariana Grande, Gigi Hadid and others who encourage people to “Be the best possible version of themselves physically, mentally, and socially.”

This New Pad Might Just Be… reMarkable.

We live in a time where we are constantly bombarded with information. Distractions from social media notifications, emails, breaking news and pop up messages have become the norm. Has our love for technology made us blind? Have we lost our ability to focus on what really matters? We have to modify technology before it modifies us.  Check the short two videos below.

The Wonderfully Creative Caity Costa.

Caity Costa and yours truly… (the world famous DJ Storm) had the pleasure of working with one another the other day, and believe me when I tell you that once you that after working in music studios for over a decade, I know talent when I hear it.  Aside from being a pleasureful and peaceful woman, Caity has a deluge of music that neither myself, nor the folks at my shop looking forward to hearing, and working with her on.  Take a gander at some of her photos below, and if you’d love to hear what she has to perform, you can check out all of her work by clicking right here.

Tea For Three? Don’t Mind If I Do.

Designed for modern microliving, the Double Compact Tea Maker does just as the name suggests. It’s been reduced to the bare essentials without sacrificing functionality to accommodate small households of 1, 2, or 3 people with limited kitchen space.  The “pot” actually consists of two internal pots. The infuser and the teapot are located inside of the water pot. The advantage of this twist in design is that it provides a better brewing experience by eliminating the possibility of accidental overturning and drip. Furthermore, it heats the pot in all direction to ensure an even brew.

The most important part of the project is the innovative brewing method. The tea maker directs the water to the inside of the pot tanks to the inverted conic structure inside the steam top where it is boiled. In just twenty minutes, the tea pot will fill with water. This gradual filling brews the tea in a tasty way without burning it or tainting the taste. Not only function, its glass-on-glass design is almost artistic and sculptural, meaning you’ll be happy to leave it out on your countertop.

Don’t Get Stung By The ‘Bee’.

Bumblebee is a prequel story set in the ’80s, which gave Paramount and director Travis Knight the freedom to reintroduce several well-knownTransformers characters sporting classic G1 designs – something old-school fans were very happy to see.  The most recent trailer for the spin-off gave us a few teasing glimpses of Optimus Prime looking a lot more like the original interpretation of the Autobot leader than he did in Michael Bay’s movies, and now we can get a much better idea of his final design thanks to this “Generation 1” featurette and the new image featured above.  The video also includes interviews with Knight, as well as stars Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena. Check it out below and let us know if you’re looking forward to Bumblebee in the comments.

A Strange Thing Is Coming Back To Netflix…

There’s only so much to take away from the titles themselves, but it certainly sounds like the Starcourt Mall will come into play as a major setting for the upcoming season. The new location was featured in the very first teaser for Stranger Things Season 3, which also featured Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) working at an ice-cream store alongside series newcomer Robin (Maya Hawke).  Unfortunately, Netflix didn’t reveal a specific premiere date, only teasing that Stranger Things will return to the streaming service in 2019.

Don’t Plug Your Socket Into A Wall, Plug It Into A Window.

Granted that the current ‘Window Socket’ features European plugs, it is still an idea so fabulously simple, it’s slightly amazing that we haven’t seen one before. Designed by Kyuho Song & Boa Oh, the charger sticks to a window and draws solar power to an internal battery, which enables one to either plug small devices into the outlet right there and then, or save the stored power for use during night-time hours.

Kyuho Song & Boa Oh “tried to design a portable socket, so that users can use it intuitively without special training.” It sticks to a window with a suction plate that encircles the solar panel, and a basic outlet feeds the converted solar power to a device—and that’s pretty much it. As the designers point out, this is a charger/converter that can be used anywhere there’s daylight, particularly where there is restricted use of electricity, such as outdoors or on a plane.

At present, the Window Socket is still a concept, but in the near future the designers hope to increase its efficiency, energy storage and charge time. The battery on the Window Socket is very small, at 1000mAh the stored power might be about enough to charge a mobile phone, particularly if it were a USB outlet rather than a standard one, but it won’t be enough to power household appliances. And while it can provide 10 continuous hours of power on a full charge, it presently takes about 5-8 hours to fully charge. But even that can’t completely take a way from it’s awesome, simple design.
