Through The Looking Glass.

Teaming up with photographer Atiba Jefferson, Mike Campau wanted to come up with a new way to show traditional portraits. Campau states that “Images affected by glass refraction has always intrigued me, so I thought I would start there.” After trying to use more traditional effects to achieve the proper look, the logistics of trying to stack and overlay them proved to be quite impractical. Mike then turned to full CGI for the glass effect.  But regardless of the technique the combination of Atiba Jefferson and Mike Campau on this photo project is incredible.  Check the method below.

What Is Pizzaoki?

Pastry hurling international dance icon Steve Aoki has decided to temporarily halt the on-stage cake throwing gimmick and pick up the dough roller. The 40-year superstar DJ/producer has just announced the opening of Pizzaoki in his hometown of Los Angeles. As the son of Benihana’s founder, who once told Yahoo Finance he has never received a penny from his father, the inventively named new restaurant seems like a fitting next move for the entrepreneurial mogul.

A themed restaurant in it’s conception, much like the theatrical Japanese chain started by his late father, Aoki says that customers will be able to enjoy quality pizza recipes named after his hit songs — for instance, a classic cheese dubbed “Just Hold On” or the “Mayhem,” a supreme with all the toppings. The new concept also relies heavily on technology for delivery, as Pizzaoki currently lacks a brick and mortar location. Customers can currently place orders through Postmates and Uber Eats.

I’m Sure You’ve Heard Who’s Coming Back?

I know the ‘Rugrats’ fans from the 90’s already know the answer to this. The popular animated series about a crew of adventurous babies is coming back to both the big and small screens.  The show is being revived with a new 26-episode season and a live-action movie featuring CGI, Nickelodeon announced Monday.  Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures, Sarah Levy, the chief operating officer of Viacom Media Networks and interim president of Nickelodeon, said in a statement. The Daytime Emmy-winning show debuted in 1991 and ran for nine seasons over 13 years, reaching millions of viewers and inspiring three movies. The new Rugrats projects will reportedly feature the classic characters including Tommy and Angelica Pickles, Chuckie Finster, and Phil and Lil DeVille as well as some new ones.  Needless to say, many nostalgic Rugrats fans were excited to hear the news.

Have You Ever Seen A Low Poly Truck?

Designed with an aesthetic that’s instantly memorable, the Karlmann King SUV is a “Ground Stealth Fighter” with a design that one could characteristically and literally describe as edgy. It ditches the organic, aerodynamic design that most cars go for, and opts for something polygonal and frankly, beastly.

Created by a worldwide team of nearly 2000 designers, developers, and engineers, the Karlmann King SUV is based on the Ford F-550 chassis and packs a 6.8-Liter V10 gasoline engine. Each automobile is hand-made, requiring 30,000 painstaking man hours to piece together. Made to look like an absolute monster, the exterior is crafted from carbon fiber and sheet steel, with an optional bulletproof coating. With that sort of armor and aesthetic, the Karlmann King is the kind of vehicle you’ll look at with feelings of awe coupled with a hint of fear. The price of that feeling?? Close to $4 million.

Uncharted – The Short Film.

Ever since Sony revealed their plans for a live-action Uncharted movie, fans worldwide have been clamoring to see Nathan Fillion (Firefly; CastleThe Death of Superman) take on the role of adventurer extraordinaire Nathan Drake – a dream-casting that Fillion was very much onboard with. However, those hopes and dreams were subsequently crushed when the studio opted to go in a vastly different direction with their movie and cast up-and-comer Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home) as a younger version of the hero fans have come to know and love over the course of five video games. With that film perpetually stuck in development hell, Fillion and a few of his friends decided to take matters into their own hands and produced a 15-minute live-action fan film, directed by Allan Ungar, that finally puts Fillion in the shoes of good ol’ Nate as he tracks down the lost treasure of Flor de la Mar.  The cast is rounded out by Mircea Monroe (Episodes) as Elena Fisher, Stephen Lang (Avatar) as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, and Geno Segers (Banshee) as the villain.

This Is… (Insert Your Country Here).

Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) flabbergasted the country when he randomly released his incredible video for “This Is America”.  The symbolism, reflections of the current state of the U.S., and the over all tone of the music video is undeniably well thought out, original, and has resonated to not just Americans.  Several artists from all around the world have stepped up to represent the problems in the places that they live.  NOW, not to downplay the plights of other nations, but the similar styles, which are directly bitten from Gambino seem a bit unoriginal, and although the messages are clear, insightful, and informative, after a bit, one would hope that these artists would have found their own way to convey their thoughts. That being said, these “remixes” of ‘This Is America’ are extremely worth taking a listen to.  Between I-NZ bringing light to the state of Iraq post Americas 2003 invasion, or Falz discussing the conditions of current day Nigera, you can search for almost any country you want, you’ll find one of these videos.  Check the method below, listen to the messages.

Tali Rutman’s Photography.

Russia may be on America’s radar for some ugly reasons, but it’s on ours for some beautiful ones.  Photographer Tali Rutman has an incredible collection of photos, featuring a model painted with replicas of amazing abstract paintings.

Trevor Noah Snaps Back.

Trevor Noah is not only a brilliant individual, but a great comedian, and a damn good television host.  But no one is above scrutiny of their remarks.  Recently Mr. Noah made some remarks regarding the backgrounds of the French football (soccer) team, that he was totally justified in conveying, but not everyone in France was too thrilled about it.  In a behind the scenes look at The Daily Show, Trevor explained his thoughts and feelings about the comments made towards him, and he “clapped back” in spectacular fashion.  I’ll let him explain his plight in the Comedy Central video below.

A Church On A Rock.

There are many fantastical castles out there in the world, but hearing of a beautiful island that can only be reached at certain times is something straight out of a fantasy book.  Take a look at this incredible church, and the rock that it stands on.

The Lake Flato House.

In Texas, architecture firm Lake Flato has completed the ‘Hog Pen Creek Residence’, an expansive lakeside retreat connected by a long exterior boardwalk. Situated at the confluence of Hog Pen Creek and Lake Austin, the dwelling was envisioned by its owners as a playful property that encouraged outdoor living, and maximized the site’s tranquil views. The home’s L-shaped footprint and orientation helps negotiate heritage oak trees, a steeply sloping site, and aggressive setbacks from the water. The boardwalk connects a series of structures that step down the hillside, traversing a 75-foot lap pool, and terminating at a screened pavilion by the lake’s edge.

The main living area is a two-story volume with a lofted master bedroom and porches at both ends. This area of the home enjoys cool prevailing breezes and shade from the adjacent oak trees. The interior accommodates many operable windows that provide cross ventilation and daylight, while three pairs of oversized doors provide sweeping views of Lake Austin. Lake Flato carefully sited the project so that no existing trees had to be removed during its construction. However, one pecan tree was uprooted during a storm and was consequently incorporated into the design of tables and shelves within the home.

It’s Time To Break The ‘Glass’.

M. Night Shyamalan just tore the roof off of Hall H with the first official trailer for his highly-anticipated Glass, which will feature the return of both Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price and Bruce Willis as David Dunn. Plus, this time, they’re joined by James McAvoy as Kevin Crumb and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, who reprise their roles from last year’s critically-acclaimed Split. The new trailer, which originally debuted at CinemaCon in April, offers plenty of outstanding footage as Mr. Glass partners with The Beast to wreak havoc on the world, leaving only Dunn and Cooke to find a way to stop them.

Enjoy the new trailer below.
