The Final Season Of Entourage.

Once upon a time, I knew I wanted to start about blog that revolved around the things and experiences I found interesting, and sharing those things with the world.  The blog had no real format, or direction, but when it came to interesting things, I knew the HBO show Entourage was number one on the list.  (The very first post EVER on this blog was about Entourage on DVD.)  So its only logical that as the show is coming to an end, that I post up whatever new info I can find about it.  The final season debuts on July 24th, and the teaser for it dropped recently on HBO.  It’s a simple look, and the music (‘High For This‘ by The Weeknd) makes everything a bit somber.  I have to admit, I even got a little sad the first time I saw it.  But check the teaser below.

Marvin’s Room (Remix).

Its always interesting to hear a remix that contradicts the original song.  (In fact its the best kind of remix).  But recently my good friend, and talented musician Neiko DeLuv sent me a remix of Drake’s newest single “Marvin’s Room“.  The original song consists of Drizzy calling a girl’s phone and telling her to forget about her man.  The remix however, is her man’s response.  Nieko DeLuv has presented the world with quite an amazing, innovative, and interesting perspective on what happens when a guy calls a girl in a relationship.  Check the method below.

I’m On One Docu-Video.

I’m well aware that I posted up some footage by Derick G recently documenting behind the scenes of a music video, but going through his collection of work has led me to another gem.  The documentary style footage taken of the “I’m On One” video takes an interesting peek behind the curtain of Miami life, the concept behind the music video, and the people who helped put it all together.  Check the method below.

Left Brain vs. Right Brain.

Mercedes-Benz hasn’t necessarily been known for their unique, and groundbreaking, and captivating ads in the past, but their new “Left Brain/Right Brain” collection is just that.  The ads simply stress the difference between left and right brain thinkers, and demonstrate it through portraying the logical vs. the creative…  And then there’s Einstein.

The Floating Island.

The world’s largest artificial floating island has finished its first week as a major new tourism attraction in Seoul, South Korea.  Seoul‘s Han River will eventually be home to a floating archipelago of three man-made “islets”, but the first island, Viva, opened to the public last week.  At 3,271 square meters, it is the second-largest of the three and is home to a three-storey structure housing a 700-seat convention hall and several other attractions such as restaurants and video games.  There are parks, outdoor terraces and viewing points surrounding the center, while at night, the exterior of the building is illuminated with brightly colored light shows.  When the next islands open in September, the 20,400 square meter complex will offer three cultural centers, featuring performances, water sports and aquatic events.  The islands can accommodate 6,200 people and are set to make the Han River, which 59 million people visited last year, an even more popular tourist spot.  While artificial islands have been constructed before, most famously in Dubai, they have generally been formed by pouring sand on the seabed to create artificial land.  Seoul’s islands take a different approach and actually float on the surface of the river using an enormous buoy secured in place by 28 mooring chains, a design which ensures it can withstand changing river levels and bad weather.  Check the method.

Kreayshawn – Gucci Gucci.

Kreayshawn

Its funny how the true the term “6 Degrees of Separation” can actually be.  I’ve rocked some of the same venues as Kreayshawn, and my brother Reginald Sylvester even illustrated the poster used for one of her overseas singles.  So I was a bit amused when a friend of mine from Miami told me about a music video he saw on twitter from “some girl around where [you] stay at”, and it turned out to be the one and only Kreayshawn.  Check out her video for “Gucci Gucci”.

And for those of you unfamiliar with Kreayshawn, check out some of what she’s got to say for herself.

Let me say as much as I can in this time I am not distracted. I am moved by creating, documenting, flourishing in society. I’m coming right from Northern California. Young East Oakland baby to be correct. I am a Director, Cinematographer, Editor, DJ, Pixel Artist, Rapper, Swag assassin, Under-cat. I am just here working for you. Live Footage of Wiz Khalifa in London.

Its no mystery that Hip Hop has spread all over the globe, but it seems that all caliber of musicians have been flocking to the UK for some of their biggest performances.  Wiz Khalifa has now joined the ranks of professionals to blow up the stage in London, England.  Check some live footage of his performance below.  (If this video ceases to work, PLEASE comment and let me know so I can update it.  YouTube has been somewhat flaky lately.)

Obama Spits Hott Fire.

Click the pic to watch.

As hard as my team and I work on scouring the interwebs for new source material for this blog, I’ll be the first to admit that we can’t catch EVERYTHING.  Sometimes there are articles, skits, photos, and happenings that simple elude our eyes and ears, but luckily I have other sources that help out without knowing.  I came onto Facebook after spinning a beach party on Cinco De Mayo, and saw a post from my boy Rob Scott about President Obama’s original speech after catching Osama Bin Laden.  Click the pic to watch this hilarious video, and shout outs again to Rob Scott for putting this video on my radar

Asher Roth – Gazpacho

Click the pic to listen. (Courtesy of HHG)

I’ve had a solid appreciation for Asher Roth’s music since long before ‘I Love College’, and after his first album, Asleep In The Bread Isle, he seemed to have slowed down a little.  I was relieved when news of his second studio album “The Spaghetti Tree” started bubbling up, and even more excited to hear Asher flex some lyrical muscles on the freestyle ‘Gazpacho’.  Click the pic to take a listen.

Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Preview.

I know I’ve posted up a few times that my personal assistant and I are going to swing my the ‘I Am Still Music’ show when Lil Wayne comes to Oakland, CA., but I just want to explain to readers that this is the reason for the last month so much Lil Wayne content has gone up.  (I had someone ask me about it in a bar the other night, so I figured I’d just clear it up right here.)  But I’ve been trying to get a little heads up of exactly what his performance would look like before the actual show, and I got a glimpse of some of his set in ATL.  Check the method below to see some live footage of Weezy F. Baby tearing down Atlanta.

Duckworth – Landen Chill.

The second single from Duckworth of Tokyo 24′s first EP entitled, Landen Chill furthers the lyrical journey started in the first single (Swell Arrival). It is a smooth, well constructed track that shows off more of Duckworth’s vocal talents. Recorded, engineered, and mixed by yours truely.  Click the pic to listen to “Landen Chill”.

Game Rebellion.

Living in northern California has it’s benefits, and its short falls.  One of those short falls is not being able to catch 100% of the impressive music coming out of the east.  Luckily for me I have friends like Toni B. who throw good music my way every so often, and was gracious enough to put me onto a band named “Game Rebellion”.  This all black, (all Brooklyn) rock group (yes rock) has a stable balance of ridiculous, between their metal/punk/skanking elements, and their hip hop/lyrical/head nodding material, which is something not too many others can prove they have.  You can also tell in the video below that each and every member has a white hot passion for music in its purest form, which makes listening the group play their music, so much more than hearing a band.  So I’m not sure how I let “Game Rebellion” slip under my radar, but don’t make the same mistake, check the method below.

Eminem’s ”Recovery Of Detroit”.

“Recovery of Detroit” is a dope, and actually unexpected mini-documentary by Eminem and his people about his newest concert series in Detroit staring Eminem, D12, Drake, Jay-Z, and Dr. Dre.  The core of the 6 minute film is set around Em obviously, but also takes a look at the economic status of his home city and how people are looking on the brighter side of things when it comes to the city’s “economic resurrection”.  I’m a huge Em fan, so obviously I was enthralled, but all in all the mini movie gives an interesting insight into Eminem’s physical recovery, and the “Revocery of Detroit.”  Check the method.

Sonar.

Now this has nothing to do with military tracking systems, or weather Doppler technology.  What it does have to do with as a seriously intense, precisely calculated music video that will have you watching on repeat till you understand the incredible visuals.  Now, it’s not like me to be under-informed on this blog, but I have to admit, I’m not sure who made the video, or the song that goes with it.  (That doesn’t stop it from being sick)  But the video consists of lines, dots and circles, timed to go off with certain notes.  The entire premise is a bit confusing, but check the method below to see exactly what I mean.  It’s visually appealing, while ridiculously simple.

Danny MacAskill – Way Back Home.

So, I feel like drinking and entertaining a crowd with music are the two of the three things I’ve found out its very hard to school me on, but out side of those areas, I’m always open learning more about anything.  So when I got school recently on what “impressive BMX” really looks like, I wasn’t really upset.  I posted up a video on BMX tricks not too long ago, and my boy Eddy promptly showed me a video from Danny MacAskill.  This kid pulls some mind blowing stunts with so much ease, its retarded.  Check the method below.

The History Of Hip Hop In 4 Minutes.

I’m no stranger to a good beatbox, in fact, aside from DJ videos, I’d say beatbox videos are the ones I look up most often. There’s just something about being able to replicate such a wide variety of sounds without any instrument, or tool is fascinating to me. So when I read about the French beatboxer Eklipse and his 4 minute long session documenting the evolution of Hip Hop, I was interested. When I actually saw it, my reaction was like whhaaa?… So I felt the need to share.

Among the many thing I was impressed with, I have to say that his ability to emulate rappers voices is quite impressive. I’ve heard Eklipse speak before, and when it’s in English, his accent is quite thick, so be able to replicate Busta Rhymes, Method Man, and Lil Wayne with 90% precision is remarkable.

Lil Wayne Discusses ‘Green And Yellow’ On ESPN.

Click the pic to hear the song.

My good friend and investment consultant “The Distinguished Mr. Reyes”, put me onto the Lil Wayne’s already notorious “Green And Yellow” freestyle the other day on the way to the club.  For those of you who haven’t heard the song, click the pic above to listen, but essentially it’s a rally cry for the Green Bay Packers to win the Superbowl this coming Sunday.  He was recently called onto ESPN to discuss the track and its reaction.  My appologies for the shotty video quality, I always try to keep a certain standard on the blog, but this is the only video I could find anywhere on the internet.  The interview is pretty in depth, but there’s a point midway through when one of the hosts kind of blatently disses Wiz (the originator of the ‘Black and Yellow track) that had me floored.  Check the method below to hear what Weezy had to say.

Candy Pillay.

Candice Pillay was born June 10th, 1981 in the small town of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. The model (who also goes by Candy) has apparently had a love for the stage and performing as well. Her East Indian heritage combined with a love for R&B and Soul music makes for her remarkable sound and style. She grew up in a musical family, and began singing in her church at the age of 5. She left her home in South Africa and moved to the States to further both her modeling and her career. She lived in New York and recorded and performed her music there, playing at various clubs and parties. Candy later moved to Los Angeles where she continues her music career with recording, performance and radio work. 2 Custom Instruments, Everyone Should Learn To Play.

Reactable

Not too many people are actually familiar with the technical definition of an instrument.  Before you say that I’m wrong, just know that 80% of the people I’ve spoken to about the ‘Reactable’ think it’s some sort of Liberty Science Center exhibit, not a music instrument.  The Reactable is a round translucent table, used in a darkened room, and appears as a backlit display. By placing blocks called tangibles on the table, and interfacing with the visual display via the tangibles or fingertips, a virtual modular synthesizer is operated, creating music or sound effects.  The Reactable is an electronic musical instrument with a tabletop Tangible User Interface that has been developed within the Music Technology Group at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain by Sergi Jordà, Marcos Alonso, Martin Kaltenbrunner and Günter Geiger.

The Samchillian

This oddly named instrument is an electronic musical tool which takes Leon Gruenbaum’s “Samchillian” concept and defines a possible product design for it. The challenge for the production team was to make a product, which would be aesthetic, ergonomic and could be used on stage. Since this is a new and an unusual type of musical instrument a lot of thought went into defining an new iconic shape but one which still comunicates as a musical instrument.  Like the Reactable, its a new type of musical instrument which uses the concept of keys representing relative notes, rather then fixed notes (as in a piano). an explanation of what that means is apparent in the film.

Henely Sequence from ‘The Social Network’.

I don’t know if you’ve been seeing the commercials around, but ”The Social Network” is soon to be making its DVD debut tomorrow.  But before everyone rushes out to the store to swoop on this ‘epic achievement in story telling’ -(Thats not necessarily my opinion of the movie, but all the cool kids are saying it), I just want to highlight once scene in the movie that caught the attention of my peers and I when the movie first hit theaters.  (no spoilers ahead)  The crew race with Harvard has a musical accompaniment that makes that scene stand out from the rest of the movie like Amazon Eve in a room full of moderately tall individuals. The entire scene seems to be shot differently from the rest of the movie, and emphases the emotional significance of the race.  All in all it’s by no means the most powerful shot in the film, but its for sure one of the most bad-ass, and the song “In the Hall of the Mountain Op 23″ by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, accentuates the sh*t out of it.  Check the method below.

Roman’s Revenge Remix, and Lil Kim’s Interview.

Click the pic to hear the remix.

About a week ago I heard a snippet from Nicki Minaj’s remix of “Roman’s Revenge” featuring Busta Rhymes and was quite excited to hear the finished product. As I’m sure everyone is aware already, “Roman’s Revenge” is one of the tracks that started the now rampant beef between Minaj and Lil Kim. Although Busta says nothing that could possibly be interpreted as hate toward Kim, Nicki’s verses remain the same, and I’m sure Lil Kim is not too pleased with the re-envigoration the track has received since the release of this new version. Busta’s style, although a bit wild, fits the track perfectly and re-iterates the point that the chorus of the original track was taken from a line in an old Busta song. And even though Kim has yet to put out a second diss track (The first being “Black Friday”) she was on New York’s Hot 97 in an interview with Angie Martinez mocking Minaj. Click the pic to hear the remix and check the method below to see the interview with Lil Kim.

01.10.11

So as the new year is fast approaching I’m finishing different projects, and lining new ones up.  But one of the most important things I’ve been focusing a majority of my attention on will be completed on the 10th of January, and I just wanted to put it out there to make people aware.  I’ve been working on new mix material for the ‘BKC’ clothing store in San Francisco, I’ve been in the studio for days on end with Duckworth of Tokyo 24 working on editing, mixing, mastering, and marketing some things for him, and I’ve also been focusing my attention on the creation of a new avenue by which to get my music out.  What’s dropping on the 10th of January may be all of these, it may be none, I’d tell you now, but… where’s the fun in that?

Shakur Sozahdah

The amazing Shakur Sozahdah is of East African descent, and just like all the other girls on this Blog, the typical model.  The alluring Shakur boasts a talent for music that many of her counterparts in the video vixen industry may not have.  The sound of the raptress is an eclectic mixture of musical genres. Shakur describes her sound as urban, euro, pop. “My sound is a good balance of hip-hop, pop, and London swag and it’s that diversity that makes it good ear candy. Every time I step into the studio, I’m going for music that has a feel good vibe with global appeal. We have seven continents in this world, so why limit yourself to just one. There are so many people out there I can reach with music, so I definitely do not want to stipulate my growth. International is where it’s at! I don’t think I sound like any female artist that’s out there now,” she explains. “It’s a new sound…it’s a new lane. I try to show my unique twist on what I do and I exemplify it in my music.” When asked what she hopes to accomplish Shakur’s goals are clear. “I want to flourish in what I do, learn from others, and create an empire. So many people fall off after a hit or two, but I want to create something substantial and use whatever status or fame I get to do something positive. I want to help people in any way I can and make a difference…whether it’s minute and miniscule, or something huge. I just want to keep the momentum going and never limit myself.”
