Henely Sequence from ‘The Social Network’.

I don’t know if you’ve been seeing the commercials around, but ”The Social Network” is soon to be making its DVD debut tomorrow.  But before everyone rushes out to the store to swoop on this ‘epic achievement in story telling’ -(Thats not necessarily my opinion of the movie, but all the cool kids are saying it), I just want to highlight once scene in the movie that caught the attention of my peers and I when the movie first hit theaters.  (no spoilers ahead)  The crew race with Harvard has a musical accompaniment that makes that scene stand out from the rest of the movie like Amazon Eve in a room full of moderately tall individuals. The entire scene seems to be shot differently from the rest of the movie, and emphases the emotional significance of the race.  All in all it’s by no means the most powerful shot in the film, but its for sure one of the most bad-ass, and the song “In the Hall of the Mountain Op 23″ by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, accentuates the sh*t out of it.  Check the method below.

The Best Action Scene Of ALL TIME.

The description tells you, right off the bat, sh*t is about to get real in a hurry. It looks like the only thing our hero likes better than moustaches and butter is pastel and Asics.   When the scene starts, he’s in the process of breaking free from a paddy wagon, and the Indian police force tries to stop him by inexplicably destroying all of their vehicles as fast as they can – motorcycles ram into cars, jeeps hurtle through the air, police cars power-slide into buildings (regardless of whether the hero is anywhere near them, has done anything to them, or if it makes any sense for them to be doing it.)  Things only proceed to get more and more ridiculous until it reaches the point where I couldn’t handle it anymore… and he skids a horse across the ground.  I’m not going to spoil the rest of the action, but just keep this in mind people, and I can not stress this enough… This is a REAL film.

Some New Summer Movies For You.

New isn’t exactly the most appropriate word to describe these next films, all of which are franchises that have banked big bucks in summers past, and are making waves once again with new splashes in the box office. Weather your familiar with all the titles in each franchise or your new to some of the films, all of these titles are sure to have ads all over the place in months.

Fast Five

Now I KNOW what most people are thinking when they see this, that the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise should have stopped trying years ago. Or that if it weren’t for the 4th and most recent installment in the series, no one would care about the rag-tag team of street racing criminals. Which is all probably true, but since seeing the trailer for the newest movie in the line up, I’ve noticed that when the focus is on a heist and not on CG cars doing impossible stunts, the movies appeal increases 10 fold. I was also disappointed when I heard The Rock was a part of the film, but actually seeing him in action quelled my fears. Check the method below.

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead a reunion of returning all-stars from every chapter of the explosive franchise built on speed in Fast Five. In this installment, former cop Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) partners with ex-con Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) on the opposite side of the law. Dwayne Johnson joins returning favorites Jordana Brewster, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Matt Schulze, Tego Calderon and Don Omar for this ultimate high-stakes race. Since Brian and Mia Toretto (Brewster) broke Dom out of custody, they’ve blown across many borders to elude authorities. Now backed into a corner in Rio de Janeiro, they must pull one last job in order to gain their freedom. As they assemble their elite team of top racers, the unlikely allies know their only shot of getting out for good means confronting the corrupt businessman who wants them dead. But he’s not the only one on their tail. Hard-nosed federal agent Luke Hobbs (Johnson) never misses his target. When he is assigned to track down Dom and Brian, he and his strike team launch an all-out assault to capture them. But as his men tear through Brazil, Hobbs learns he can’t separate the good guys from the bad. Now, he must rely on his instincts to corner his prey…before someone else runs them down first.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

This fourth installment of the Pirates franchise boasts a new crew villain, (who just reminds me of Shamus from family guy), a love interest for Jack Sparrow, and a new quest without the old weight of some of the main characters of the old movies.  From what I’ve heard, the writing on this movie frees the story up to go to new places, and in new directions by “forgetting” some of the past, and simply focusing on this new adventure.  I’m anxious to see how high this movie rates on the box office lists come summer.  Bring rum.

Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds himself on an unexpected journey to the fabled Fountain of Youth when a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz) forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane).

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

Although the title kinda reminds me of a twilight spin off, I’m still very curious to see what this movie makes of the franchise.  After hearing Michael Bay give himself some harsh constructive criticism in an interview about “Revenge of the Fallen” (the sequel) I’m a bit more confident that he can handle this movie and have it be more successful than the second, and maybe even the original Transformers movie.  There are tons of rumors in circulation about why Megan Fox got cut from the movie, but I do think if it’s explained the correct way, and people can move past it, the new love interest will end up helping the movie instead of hurting it (as some people have speculated).  But in true Michael Bay fashion, he’s trying to keep it a secret so there is no synopsis for the movie, never the less, also in true Michael Bay fashion, we all know there will be about 20 million dollars worth of explosions. The Brothers Mario.

The classic video game icons Mario and Luigi aren’t normally known for busting any ass unless it’s Bowser’s, but in the presentation by “The Country Club” things have changed. The machinima movie uses a GTA engine to create one of the most ridiculous demonstrations of bad-assery ever captured on film. Mario and Luigi are mobsters trying to fight for freedom in the mushroom kingdom. I don’t think anyone will look at plumbers the same way again. Check the method below.

Top 25 Women in Mainstream Media.

All of the women featured on this site on a regular basis are incredibly beautiful, and have a ridiculous appeal, especially to someone in my industry.  But when it comes to those more saturated into mainstream media, the look of the women begins to change.  Some people have a different opinion of beauty than I do, (although Alexis Lugo is hot any which way you spin it.)  but I’ve comprised a list, with a little help from a colleague, of the 25 hottest women in mainstream media.  The list is comprised of faces like Miranda Kerr (who isn’t on this list ONLY because she’s already been featured on this blog) and features actresses, supermodels and entertainers in alphabetical order, because I don’t want to hear any crap about why someone is on the list higher than someone else.  So check the method below, but if you think there is someone who should or should be on there, let me know.

So as the new year is fast approaching I’m finishing different projects, and lining new ones up.  But one of the most important things I’ve been focusing a majority of my attention on will be completed on the 10th of January, and I just wanted to put it out there to make people aware.  I’ve been working on new mix material for the ‘BKC’ clothing store in San Francisco, I’ve been in the studio for days on end with Duckworth of Tokyo 24 working on editing, mixing, mastering, and marketing some things for him, and I’ve also been focusing my attention on the creation of a new avenue by which to get my music out.  What’s dropping on the 10th of January may be all of these, it may be none, I’d tell you now, but… where’s the fun in that?

Get Your Own Light Cycle.

Just in time for Tron: Legacy, a Florida bike shop put together 10 custom-built, street-legal Tron Light Cycle lookalikes. For a cool $55,000, you could be riding one to the Dec. 17 premier.  According to Jeff Halverson of Parker Brothers Choppers, each bike features a steel frame, fiberglass bodywork and a V-twin engine from a Suzuki TLR1000. Stopping power comes from a custom made friction drum that keeps the bike true to the look of Daniel Simon’s latest Light Cycle design. Customers have a choice between actual gauges and an iPad dock that displays vital statistics on the iPad’s touchscreen.  Though the bike looks like it drove straight off the movie screen, it’s not a replica or recreation since the Light Cycles in both Tron films were virtual. “We basically used the images we could get off the web in order to make the bike,” said Halverson. “Keep in mind, no one ever made this bike before.”  The bike weighs 474 pounds and is just over 100 inches long and 23 inches wide. The rider sits (lies?) 28.5 inches off the ground. Halverson said that it rides like any sportbike, though we’ve gotta wonder with that huge front tire.

“Source Code”.

Click the pic to watch the trailer

Its interesting to see different movie that seem to be a meld of several other films.  When I came across the trailer for “Source Code” I was impressed with the concept, but even more intrigued by the premise behind the film.  It seems almost to be a combination of “The Matrix” mixed with “Vantage Point” with a splish-splash of “Next”.  The synopsis is as follows, let me know what your think.

When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he’s ever known, he learns he’s part of a government experiment called the “Source Code,” a program that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack. Filled with mind-boggling twists and heart-pounding suspense, Source Code is a smart action-thriller directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) also starring Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye, Due Date), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed), and Jeffrey Wright (Quantum of Solace, Syriana).

Green Lantern Official First Trailer.

Green Lantern is officially taking its first steps on the marketing trail by dropping a rediculously entertaining trailer.  Ryan Reynolds is Hal Jordan, hot shot fighter pilot, that turns into the intergalactic patrol, the super hero Green Lantern.  Check the highly anticipated trailer by clicking the pic above. The film “The Eagle” a young Roman centurion in 140 AD, attempts to uncover the truth about the disappearance of his father’s legion—the Ninth—in the north of Britain twenty years previously. The centurion, Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum), travels with a British slave, Esca (Jamie Bell), beyond Hadrian’s Wall into Caledonia, where he must confront the tribes to recover the legion’s eagle standard and restore his father’s reputation.  Badass-ness ensues, and through a bizarre twist, Esca, the slave, becomes the master.  Click the pic to watch the trailer.

C.I. Bang – “So Appalled” (Official Video)

It’s no secret C.I. Bang is moving steadily toward releasing “The Process” (hosted by yours truley), so when folks heard he was shooting a video for the track ‘So Appalled’ they felt it was about time. The video is directed by G-Mo and distributed by INF Gang Media. Check the method below.

Brand New Tron Trailer 11/9/10

The new Tron: Legacy trailer was one of my very first posts on this blog, and the movie still hasn’t come out yet… disappointing.  But what I am happy to report is that the final trailer was released via the web today, and is wilder than I ever would have thought.  Olivia Wild (13 from the Fox show ‘House’) and the “younger/villainous” Jeff Bridges (from the original Tron) are displayed in a little more contextual depth than any of the previous trailers, and “The Grid” is display in some pretty ridiculous ways.  So check the method below, and PLEASE comment if the video stops working.  If YouTube shuts it down, I’m not going to know unless someone says something, and I get a chance to find a new one.  Enjoy.

Weezy’s Welcome Back Party.

This week, Weezy F. Baby celebrated his release from incarceration by hitting the King of Diamonds strip club in Miami, Florida, check the video below for a recap of the night.

Nelly Furtado ft. WIley – Night Is Young

I’ve been getting more and more in touch with music from ‘over the pond’ recently, and came across a super dope remix of “Night Is Young”.  The track features the musical talents of Nelly Furtado, and lyrics from the Godfather of Grime himself Wiley, and is remixed by ‘Sketch Iz Dead’.  Normally I’d tell you to click the pic to get a hold of the song, but the powers that be have rendered the song itself too exclusive for civilians right now, so check the youtube video below to get a whiff of this greatness.  If you want to get a hold of the song itself, (I can’t make guarentee’s) but, hit Wiley up on twitter @Wileyartist.

Shout outs to DJ Roy Rovelli

The Lady And The Reaper.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve stated before that I used to be a 3D animation major at the Academy of Art University before DJ’ing took off for me, (if you didn’t know, you know now) so I always try to check back in with the animation world whenever I can.  When I came across “The Lady And The Reaper” I had to post it.  The story is about an old lady is nearing the end of her days and she longs to be with the husband she has lost.  So, when death pays her a visit on night in the form of a rather comical Grim Reaper then she touches his extended hand without fear.  Only, she has not considered that a meddling doctor on our side of the great divide will decide that she must be resuscitated.  It’s quite hilarious, and the short film was even nominated for the Academy Award for best short animated film.

Tron Vs. Marvel

After catching a glimpse at the Japanese Tron: Legacy Poster, I got curious about more extra little goodies surrounding the release of Tron.  One of the ones I couldn’t believe was the mash between Tron and Marvel. To celebrate the release of Disney’s Tron: Legacy, Marvel is going to release an awesome collection of variant covers that re-imagine the classic Marvel superheroes as Tron characters.  Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and more—re-interpreted out in the unique visual style of the TRON universe…. Check the method below.

Gangrene – The Sickness

.

The group Gangrene (comprised of The Alchemist and Oh No) have dropped one of the dopest videos I’ve seen in quite some time. Refreshingly unique, and super raw, the video for ‘The Sickness’ is as far away from mainstream BET as one could possibly get. Oh No’s opening verse is lyrically voracious, with visuals to match, over one of the nicest beats Alchemist has dropped in a while. (Of course that’s just my opinion). The other unique aspect of the song is that there is no real chorus, just samples taken from different media. Check the method below.

5 Best Upcoming Movie Trailers.

The AMC Pacific

Before I get a flurry of emails insulting my taste in movies, let me just say that the movie trailers I’m putting up are the ones that grabbed my attention for the upcoming Winter 2010 movie season.  From cowboys, to aliens, to priests, to ninjas, to creepy white men who control everything, the 5 movies below are sure to draw almost anyone to the movies over the next few months.  Check the method below.

5.  Skyline.

4.  The Adjustment Bureau.

3.  The Warriors Way

2.  Priest

1. True Grit

Transformers 3 Crash.

Crashes come early and often in Michael Bay’s Transformers movies, but this one wasn’t in the script: Bumblebee, the superstar Camaro Autobot, T-boned a real Washington, D.C., police Tahoe on the first day of filming for Transformers 3. (Blame the terrorists) A bomb technician in a marked SUV, on his way to a suspicious package, roared into an area of 3rd St. on the Washington Mall that had been closed for filming by other D.C. cops, who reportedly were on a different radio frequency.  The Chevy SUV dodges an Autobot convoy led by the semi Optimus Prime and into the path of Bumblebee entering from Maryland Ave. The officer, stunt driver (spoiler) and Tahoe suffered minor injuries. Bumblebee took it on the chin however.

The scene was supposed to involve damage to a Decepticon Corvette.

The Tempest.

I’ve heard many people say different things when my name is brought up, but none of them was ever Shakespeare.  That being said, I have to say that I’m not fond of all of his work, but I do enjoy reading “Tempest”.  It’s a story about a remote Island where a guy tries to hook his daughter up with a job using magic, manipulation, and a massive storm.  (I’m fairly certain any english professor that read my synopsis just had a seizure.  But those are the essentials) The movie version has a great cast including Russel Brand from “Get Him To The Greek”, and has some crazy special effects.  It looks like a very unique movie, which is slightly hard to come by in Hollywood now a days.  Click the pic to watch the trailer.

Lil Wayne on SUPER Lockdown.

Lil’ Wayne was shipped to an isolation cell as punishment for previously getting nabbed with music-related contraband, Rikers Island sources said.  Weezy will be confined to an isolation cell for up to 23 hours a day until his scheduled release on Nov. 4, the sources said.  He won’t be going near other inmates during the rare moments when he is not locked down in a so-called “punitive segregation” cell – known as “The Bing” among Rikers Island jailbirds.  “He’s not in an area where he is mingling with other inmates – ever,” a Correction Department source said.  Lil’ Wayne can blame his month-long loneliness on his love of music. Correction Department officers caught him with headphones and a charger for an MP3 player back in May.  Another inmate was found to be hiding the MP3 player itself.  Priority for punitive-segreation cells is given to inmates who commit violent infractions, so Rikers officials shipped Weezy off to The Bing when an opening became available yesterday.  Correction Department spokesman Stephen Morello confirmed Weezy’s transfer to punitive segregation Monday.

Halo Reach Commercial: Extended Cut

Now a days, I don’t usually have time to play video games, but I got my hands on Halo: Reach recently, and was blown away.  The game is (in my personal opinion) the best Halo game yet.  The other thing I’ve always admired about the Halo series is their marketing.  Their live-action commercials always make me wonder how epic a Halo movie would be, and the new Reach commercial is no different.  Check the extended version below.
