The term “out of sight, out of mind” is something that people don’t understand the gravity of. If there’s a war in some corner of a foreign country not as many people are aware of it as if it was on your TV screen or iPad screen every day. Such is the way I feel about music in the Bay Area. Coming from the Tri State area, anything that was big on the radio there, was big on the radio everywhere. Moving out to the Bay was the first time I realized that alot of good music goes undiscovered, and I still to this day, 7 years later, haven’t figured out why. Songs like ‘Up’ from Love Rance, and ‘Function’ from E40, Problem, & IAMSU, are tracks that have the same vibe as Drake’s ‘The Motto’, but took so much time to be heard by the entire country. But every so often, a track like ‘Tell Me When To Go’ travels across the entire U.S. and gives Northern California a little bit of the massive shine it deserves. Needless to say when I saw the video of the remix of ‘Function’ for the first time, I was glad that a track from the Bay was getting the attention songs from other regions get all the time. Check the method.
Rack City was such a recognizable track, that a remix was only the logical step in keeping the banger alive on the airwaves. This time around, YMCMB’s Tyga teamed up with Wale, Fabolous, Young Jeezy, Meek Mill and T.I. to deliver a remix worthy of radio spins I’m positive it’ll attain. Check out the official video below.
Young Jeezy has been on and off the front pages of Hip Hop magazines for the better part of a decade now, but not too many people know his story. With his newest studio album release TM:103 in stores December 20th, the Snowman is release a documentary titled “A Hustlers Ambition”. Check out one of the 5 trailers below. (and YES, Samuel L. Jackson is narrating).
It seems like an ever growing trend for musicians to document the entire process behind the creation of their next big hit. I’ve said it many a time, that I thoroughly enjoy watching the creative side, and knowing whatever background there is to the music I’m listening to, or the music videos I watch. So I decided to put together a little double feature of two of the most interesting BTS video’s I’ve come across this month. (And yes, I’m aware that this is the 1st day of the month.)
A few weeks back, I was excited to post up the behind the scenes video of Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne’s new collab, ‘Ballin’. I was extra excited to see what the finished product would look like, because there was a scene with Jeezy in some sort of red cave that looked a bit peculiar. But all in all seeing the completed video, I get the vibe they were going for. And I also couldn’t help loving Jeezy’s line in the song “So much bread on me I could buy a Jersey home.” Check the method below.
It seems like in the entertainment business, just as in life, some friendships never diminish. Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne have teamed up multiple times in the past on tracks in the past, and now that Young Jeezy is back from his “absence”, they’re back at it again. The track Ballin has been climbing up the rap radio station playlists for a few weeks now, so it’s only right that they shoot a video. Check some of the behind the scenes footage below.
