Screen Shot 2014-06-08 at 10.47.29 PM

Psy, the highest viewed artist on YouTube is back again with another memorable video.  Hangover, featuring none other that Snoop D-O-Double-Gizzle, (or Snoop Lion, whichever you prefer) was published on June 8th, and in a matter of 12 hours had well over a million views.  This new, half-english, collaboration has an entrancing beat, and hopefully can be a worth successor to the world famous Gangnam style.

Berkeley California’s Hilgard Garden Terrace.

Nestled between neighboring townhouses, the ‘Hilgard Garden’ by San Francisco-based Barensfeld Architecture takes advantage of its sloping topography with a series of angular terraces.  Located in Berkeley, California, the brief called for an outdoor living and entertaining area, as well as an accessible seating spot at the top of the site.  Based on a Japanese maple sculpture park, a layered platform structure gently cascades down the steep landscape, referencing outstretched deciduous trees and navigating the change in elevation.

Ciara – Body Party (DJ Storm & Joe Major Remix).

Click the pic to download.

The concept of a “Body Party” wasn’t a prevalent one until Ciara’s newest hit single.  The vibe and essence of the track was one that I was infatuated with, and that with a slow, sensual, but memorable track, it was only right that Joe Major and myself put our spin on it.    After only one day in the lab, we came up with a remix that kept all best parts of the original, but had our own essence to it.  Click the pic above to download the mix.

The Australian Winter Cabin.

Australia is a land more often associated with sun and surf not winter and snow, but in the high country of Victoria and the resort village of Dinner Plain, there’s a house that brings winter to life.  Welcome to ‘Under the Moonlight’ designed by Giovanni D’Ambrosio. It’s a contemporary (and expensive) take on the traditional cattlemen’s huts of the area.

“Perched on the edge of an alpine reserve in Dinner Plain Village, part of the highest approved freehold land in Australia, the home is located just 10 minutes from down hill skiing at Mount Hotham. Featuring extensive 8 x 9 sq metre glass panels, sweeping alpine views are drawn in to the interior of the home, which also features a 20 tonne cantilevered fire place made of local stone.”

Forget the stone fireplace look at the bathroom! A divan perched beside the spa. Dark and decadent. This is definitely a bachelor’s pad in the snow, no? A sexy private après-ski lair. Glühwein anyone?

Asher Roth – Good Morning View.

With the first day of summer officially here, Asher Roth took it upon himself to keep the good vibes going, dropping this new David Appleton-produced joint titled ‘Good Morning View’. Is This Too Orange coming soon.

The Rainbow Panorama.

Now reaching the rainbow became possible with the new installation named “Your rainbow panorama” of the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. The new project was opened on the 28th of May 2011 on the top of the ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum in Århus, Denmark. Permanent circular vivid walkway of a 150 meters long, 3 meters wide by 3 meters high, gives a 360° colorful view of the city. Eliasson’s creation is 52 meters in diameter (approximate weight of 140 tons), mounted on the 12 columns which are resting on the steel construction on the roof level (around 100 tons). This artistic work stands over 50 meters above the street level and 3.5 meters above the renovated roof area, it is also available for recreational purposes with a spectacular city view, all interested can reach both roof terrace and panorama via stairs and elevators.

The glass forming the rainbow has all the colors of the spectrum giving visitors a different feeling to their familiar city, bringing brightness to the regular landscape, reminding us of some childhood dreams of walking through the rainbow. It’s visible from a far distance and it lights up at night which makes “Your rainbow panorama” a new colorful landmark to the city.

Olafur Eliasson describes his design concept:

“Your rainbow panorama enters into a dialogue with the existing architecture and reinforces what is assured beforehand, that is to say the view of the city. I have created a space which virtually erases the boundaries between inside and outside – where people become a little uncertain as to whether they have stepped into a work or into a part of the museum. This uncertainty is important to me, as it encourages people to think and sense beyond the limits within which they are accustomed to moving.”

Montblanc Régulateur Nautique Timepiece Set.

Accurate measuring as we know it today was born on aboard ship: or, to be more precise, aboard vessels voyaging on the high seas.  Before the dawn of satellite-assisted navigation, highly accurate clocks were the only instruments which could enable a mariner to exactly determine his position at sea.  This is reason enough for Montblanc to devote its efforts to this theme and to devise innovative ideas that refresh watch lovers’ memories about this important tradition.  The result debuts in the new Régulateur Nautique watch set in the Montblanc Collection Villeret 1858, which was unveiled at the SIHH 2012.

Each set consists of a wristwatch chronograph with regulator dial and two time zones, along with a large navigational clock which, in addition to showing three time zones on its main regulator dial, also includes a world-time indicator.  The case is made in polished nickel and measures 640mm x 560mm x 930mm and weighs 120 kilograms while the crystal is sapphire.  Powered by the Swiss manual-wind Montblanc in-house calibre movement with 13 jewels, 18,000 vph, it boasts of a power reserve of 360 hours.  Functions include local time, port departure time, port arrival time, GMT, day/night indicator and power reserve indicator.  This Montblanc Nautique Regulator is a limited edition set of just 16 pieces – 8 sets with red gold wristwatch chronographs and 8 more with wristwatch chronographs in white gold cases.  The cost for one of these nautical objets d’art is $385 700. They will be available at Montblanc boutiques and select jewelers beginning in June.

The Classic Paintings Of Andrew Atroshenko.

Andrew Atroshenko was born in 1965 in the city of Pokrovsk, Russia. Accepted as a gifted child in 1977 into the Children’s Art School, Andrew graduated with honors in 1981. Two years later, Andrew entered Bryansk Art College, and in 1991 was accepted at one of the most prestigious art schools in the world, the St. Petersburg Academy of Art. In 1994, Andrew began taking part in exhibitions such as St. Petersburg Artists in Reutlingen, Germany, the exhibition of a group “Academy” in St. Petersburg (1996), and “Teacher’s memory” (1997). After graduation from St. Petersburg Academy of Art in 1999, Andrew was invited by a New England, US based art group “Bay Arts” to take part in their exhibitions and activities, spending that entire year in the United States into the Millennium.

According to Andrew,

“This year in America gave me more as an artist then all eight years of my formal studies in the prestigious Russian academies. I am a descendent of farmers, and I was impressed by the New England’s landscapes, and how a man in America avoids harming its environment. After seeing Royo and Pino at Artexpo New York 2000, I suddenly realized what direction I want to take my art in. After staying for a year in the United States, I spent two years in Russia perfecting my art.”

The Avengers Superbowl Trailer.

The 30-second version of the new trailer for The Avengers that ran today on the Super Bowl gave us just the barest of glimpses at the Hulk. The extended, 60-second version doesn’t show us much more of the angry green giant, but we do get to see the lovable rageaholic from the front, at least.

Even more tantalizing: Blink and you’ll miss a couple shots that appear to feature the mysterious alien army that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) brags about to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). They’ve been long rumored to be the Skrulls, and the seemingly dark-green armored uniforms of the invading horde would certainly lend fuel to that fire.  But without a doubt, the best line in the trailer comes at the very end.  “I have an army”…. “We have a Hulk.”  Check the method below.

Pusha T – Tony Montana (Freestyle).

Its somewhat of an undeniable fact in the circles of true Hip Hop fans, that Pusha T is a monster lyricist.  Its also somewhat of an indelible truth that Tony Montana was one of the greatest drug lords that never lived.  To say I was interested when Pusha jumped on the Tony Montana beat for a freestyle is an understatement, but when I saw the video I was juiced.  (And I hope people understand the metaphoric relation between the white woman in the video, and cocaine.)

Jay-Z On The Battlefield.

Eminem has been known to support some of his favorite games by donating some of his music to the soundtrack (Call Of Duty/DJ Hero) but Mr. Shady isn’t the only one.  If your familiar with DJ Hero, you know that Eminem teamed up with Jay-Z to add some tracks exclusive to the deluxe edition, but this time around, Jay-Z is catching some attention with a remix of 99 Problems that’s being featured in the new Battlefield 3 TV spot.  Check the method below.

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer.

There have been quite a few epic, and captivating franchises in my lifetime.  Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Matrix Trilogy, The Step Up franchise (JUST KIDDING).  But the new Batman series however, is no joke.  The new trailer premiered before The Deathly Hallows Pt. 2, and had tons of people talking.  The new trailer features shots of Commissioner Gordon a bit beat up, and talking to Bruce Wayne, as well as a shot of The Dark Knight himself getting WORKED by Bane (above).  To see the new trailer, go to the ‘Dark Knight Rises’ website by clicking here.

The Wonderful Watercolors of Karen Kurycki.

Different types of illustrations catch my eye on a consistent basis, but to date, I don’t think I’ve seen work as interesting as the pieces from Karen Kurycki. Her works are all witty and comical, and all the details, even the design of the type brings out the entire composition. You can see more from her here.

Check A Home In The Hollywood Hills.

This beautiful house with direct view on Lake Hollywood combines glass and stone in an elegant and luxurious finish.  The spaces are opened and the shapes rectangular for the most part. The fascinating floating living room has completely retractable windows inviting the nature within through the carefully designed terrace. The metal details on the wooden walls add a studied roughness, completely unexpected when first looking at this stylish interior. I like the multi bauble ceiling lamp from the kitchen, it’s a new interpretation of a classic cooking space.
