Moon Knight: Episode 1 Review.

We’ll do our best to not to spoil as much as possible in this review, but just be warned, if you want to know nothing, just watch this new epic Disney+/Marvel outing.  If you do want to know everything, just watch this new epic Disney+/Marvel outing.  So here we go… Simply put, if the Venom films would have ironed out all of the errors, and gotten everything right, you’d wind up with Moon Knight.  The show has an interesting start, and immediately leaves you intrigued, while delving into the day-to-day life of what seems to be a sad man, who talks a one-finned goldfish and lives in a Harry Potter styled London flat.  As the episode progresses, questions are raised as to mysterious sleep disorder he has, and we’re left wondering if he’s just down on his luck, or if there is something more sinister afoot.

At the same time being introduced to Ethan Hawke’s villainous David Karesh-like cult leader leaves many questions to be answered (which is a great start for the first episode of a 6 episode series).  This also seems to be a show that will benefit greatly by its one episode per week release schedule as apposed to Netflix’s “binge watching an entire show in a day” approach.  All the promotional material that has been released to the public so far is all essentially the first episode in a nutshell, and this, (along with a cliffhanger-ish ending) will have viewers coming back week to week for more.

With so many different comic book runs, and series, stories, and versions of the character and his villains, the writers have so much to pull from that will keep even the most avid fans of Moon Knight in the books wondering which stories the show will adhere to, or deviate from.  There don’t yet seem to be any ties to the larger Marvel Universe, but still posses those tiny Easter eggs that will surely come into play later in the series.  The soundtrack is also quite compelling.  Not bold enough to be distracting, but with tracks that appropriately fit the scenes.  (Even a small snippet of Big Pimpin’).  But all in all, this seems to be a great start to what appears to be one of Marvel’s best Disney+ shows to date.  If you’ve seen the first episode for yourself, check out the teaser for next week below.

Red Notice (Final Trailer).

When it comes to “buddy cop” team ups, there have been many iconic combinations throughout time. ‘Beverly Hills Cop’, ‘Rush Hour’ and ‘Bad Boys’ are three that we had to put on a list or else people would riot, but there are endless more. ‘Red Notice’ how ever has a unique task of putting 3 pop culture icons into the same film, and creating new characters from them. Dwayne Johnson, leads the film as a disgraced super cop, that has to clear his name… just like in ‘Hobbs and Shaw’. Ryan Reynolds is a quirky, smart mouthed who is highly skilled, and is just trying to do his job… just like in ‘The Body Guards Wife’. Finally Gal Gadot is an intelligent, masterful thief who uses her looks as well as her talent to get the job done without getting caught… just like her role in the ‘Furious 7’. SO, hopefully all these alumni of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise (YES Ryan Reynolds was in Hobbs & Shaw, making him part of the “Fast Saga” as well.) can take rolls that they have fit into int the past, and hopefully create something memorable and new. The film is being released on Netflix only, but here to a big release, and even bigger numbers. Take a look at the final trailer below.

A Movie Trailer So Good, We Wont Tell You What It Is.

The reason behind the mystery is simple. When we were first given a look at this teaser trailer for the next Disney/Pixar film, everyone on the team was a bit confused. And hopefully we’re able to get this out fast enough so that most of the readers are taken by surprise as well. The photo above is the only hint that we can give, but these two men have given rise to one of the most popular characters of all time, that is now coming back to film in a way that no one on planet earth has expected. So please, we hope that you will be as stunned as delighted as we were at what Disney/Pixar has in store for the summer of 2022.

The Official (Live Action) ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Netflix Trailer.

Between Dave Chappelle’s ground breaking specials, ‘Squid Games’, and Australia’s ‘Why Are You Like This’, Netflix’s stock just keeps going up. This treasure trove of new content is only getting more interesting, especially with the addition of a live action rendition of ‘Cowboy Bebop’. There have been endless attempts at bringing Japans’ most popular anime shows or movies to live action with some blockbusters like ‘DragonBall’, ‘Alita: Battle Angel’, ‘Ghost In The Shell’, ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, and ‘Speed Racer’. (Remember all of those well loved, wonderfully reviewed classics?). But in what seems to be the beginnings of a turn-around for Anime to live-action misadventures, ‘Cowboy Bebop’ seems to be an honest attempt at making this transition right. When taking a look at the first trailer for this experiment below, you can’t help but think to yourself… “This one actually looks pretty good.”

Who You Gonna Call?

Sony Pictures has released an international trailer for “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”, and while a few shots are recycled from previous promos, this teaser comprised almost entirely of new footage. When the review embargo lifted last week, many critics took issue with how much Afterlife relied on fan-service and revisiting well-known scenarios from the original movies, and the marketing team appears to have taken this on board… by dialling the nostalgia all the way up to 11 for this new trailer. We hear an updated version of the classic theme as our young heroes chase spooks in the Ecto-1, there are several mentions of Egon (the late Harold Ramis), and the return of one of the first film’s Terror Dogs. In fact, right at the end we get a recreation of the scene in which Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) discovers one of the preternatural pooches in his closet. While this will likely prove to be divisive, we have a feeling a lot of Ghostbusters fans are going to lap it up.

The NOT Trailer For Black Adam!

As many people may already know, there still is no trailer for Dwayne Johnson’s passion project “Black Adam”, HOWEVER, thanks to DC’s Fandome exhibition, The Rock was able to display a featurette.  This movie has been in a years long fight through the workings of Hollywood, and now is finally wrapping up its production.  In a cross section of some of the scenes shown off you can hear them say Shazam’s name, and while we’re not entirely sure what exactly they have to do with one another, Its widely known that Black Adam is a Shazam villain. One of the Hodge brothers is in the film which is never a bad thing for any film, but now that we’ve gotten a peak at just a hair of a hind of the finished product, we’re sure this is just driving fans that can’t wait to see an actual first trailer… much less the finished film.

The Old New No Way Home?

By now, many to most of the people who see stuff here have already witnessed the awesomeness that is the first ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ trailer. Dr. Strange makes much more than a cameo, but seems to be a full fledged protagonist although it’s a Spiderman story. Dr. Strange isn’t a stranger to (sorry, we couldn’t find a way around that one) to Peter Parker and his alter ego in the source material as we can see by a re-worked 90’s trailer. The 90’s Spiderman cartoon show is edited and married spectacularly over the audio of the first “No Way Home” trailer. They would be hard pressed to find, but if there’s anyone who hasn’t seen the original trailer, show them this one first before presenting the live action MCU version, just to see what they think. Either which way, enjoy.

It’s A Hawkeye Holiday.

As the holiday season nears, and the Disney MCU content runs dry, many of us were reminded of a Disney + show that we never knew was in the works in the first place. Jeremy Renner returns as the title character Hawkeye in what appears to be quite an interesting, jovial sub-story that is far from the social commentary and time bending, universe ending plots of previous Marvel shows. This seems to be quite a welcome change to the Marvel trajectory, and looks quite like a small self contained story worth watching. Check out the tailer below.

A Strange Thing Is Coming Back To Netflix…

There’s only so much to take away from the titles themselves, but it certainly sounds like the Starcourt Mall will come into play as a major setting for the upcoming season. The new location was featured in the very first teaser for Stranger Things Season 3, which also featured Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) working at an ice-cream store alongside series newcomer Robin (Maya Hawke).  Unfortunately, Netflix didn’t reveal a specific premiere date, only teasing that Stranger Things will return to the streaming service in 2019.

The Avengers: Endgame Trailer Is HERE.

Finally. After endless rumours, the Avengers 4 trailer is here and, well, I guess we’d best start calling it Avengers: Endgame now.  The Russo Brothers were the first to share the teaser and they posted the following message to accompany this epic sneak peek:
“For those who have been here since the beginning.
For those who have joined along the way.
For the best fans in the Universe.
This trailer is for you…
With much love and gratitude for your patience,
The RB’s”

Dumbo… Again.

We’ve heard the news of the new live action ‘Lion King’ cast, and (some of us) have seen the new trailer for the new reimagining of Aladdin, but here was have a new look at yet another remake of an animated Disney “Classic”. The full trailer for Disney and director Tim Burton’s live-action remake of Dumbo debuted during the Country Music Association Awards tonight, and while this adaptation does appear to be taking a few liberties with the original story, it certainly seems to have captured the spirit of the beloved animated classic.  The movie follows a former circus star (Colin Farrell) who’s life is turned upside down when he returns home from the war. When he rejoins a troupe led by Max Medici (Danny DeVito), he becomes the carer of a newborn elephant who is the laughing stock of the circus because of his enormous ears.  When word gets out that Dumbo can fly, V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton) visits the circus, determined to exploit the little elephant’s magical ability for his own gain.  Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the usual place.

X-Men: Dark Pheonix, The First Trailer…

“I’ve seen evil, and I’m looking at it now.”  It’s been a long time coming, but the official trailer for Dark Phoenix, the next (and potentially final chapter in Fox’s long-running X-Men saga), is finally here.  Just like his predecessor in the pre-DOFP timeline, it appears that Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) has made the same grave mistake while handling a young Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) as he seemingly opted to once again suppress her dormant Phoenix abilities instead of helping teach her how to control the über-powerful force. Also, while the trailer may be light on actual Dark Phoenix action, save for a quick shot near the end, there’s still plenty of intense footage of all of your favorite returning X-Men as they band together to face arguably their most dangerous – and most personal – threat yet.

Slice (Official Trailer)

There’s a new horror comedy on the way from A24 and first-time director Austin Vesely, and it looks like it could be a blast.  Slice stars Deadpool 2 standout Zazie Beetz and Chance the Rapper as two survivors of an ongoing pizza delivery massacre in a spooky small town, who set out to catch the culprits. Unfortunatly for them, this leads to a conspiracy involving a ghost, a werewolf, demonic possession and a gateway to hell.  The red band trailer definitely has a nice throwback feel, which is only elevated by the presence of Stranger Things actor Joe Keery in a supporting role. Check it out below along with a poster and let us know what you think in the comments.

It’s Time To Break The ‘Glass’.

M. Night Shyamalan just tore the roof off of Hall H with the first official trailer for his highly-anticipated Glass, which will feature the return of both Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price and Bruce Willis as David Dunn. Plus, this time, they’re joined by James McAvoy as Kevin Crumb and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, who reprise their roles from last year’s critically-acclaimed Split. The new trailer, which originally debuted at CinemaCon in April, offers plenty of outstanding footage as Mr. Glass partners with The Beast to wreak havoc on the world, leaving only Dunn and Cooke to find a way to stop them.

Enjoy the new trailer below.

Don’t Call It A Comeback. Deadpool 2 Gets A New Trailer.

From Deadpool in high heels, to decapitation, to even a shot at Black Panther, the red-band trailer for “The Untitled Deadpool Sequel” is hilarious, and NOT for the faint of heart.

Avengers: Infinity War – Brand New Trailer.

Following the disappointing Superbowl TV spot, Marvel and the Russo brothers have more than redeemed themselves by dropping what will undoubtedly become one of the highest viewed trailers of all time.  Marvel can’t seem to do any wrong.  With the outrageous success of Black Panther, their next MCU entry is destined to do just as well or better.  Check the trailer out below.

Marry Poppins Returns?

As a surprise treat during tonight’s Oscars, Disney decided the drop the first trailer and a new poster for Mary Poppins Returns.  The follow-up will feature the ageless magical nanny (this time played by Emily Blunt) making her way back to Cherry Tree Lane to visit with the now adult Jane and Michael Banks (Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw) after the latter suffers a personal loss.  This being a teaser, we only see Miss Poppins right at the end, but we do get to hear Blunt’s first words as the character.  The all-star cast of Mary Poppins Returns also includes Angela Lansbury, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, and Julie Walters. Plus, Dick Van Dyke is expected to make a featured appearance as Bert.  The sequel is set to fly into theaters on Dec. 25, 2018.

We Are Venom.

Sony Pictures has released the official teaser trailer for Venom, and it really is a true teaser as we don’t actually get to see the titular antihero in all his glory. Instead, we’re greeted with a variety of action beats featuring Academy Award-nominated star Tom Hardy battling the demon from within.  The footage also provides us with our first official looks at 4x Academy Award-nominee Michelle Williams, Primetime Emmy-winner Riz Ahmed, and several others, but we still don’t have an real idea as to who they’re playing.

Ant-Man & The Wasp: Get Your First Look.

Ant-Man was a fun movie but the sequel looks waaaay better. Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp today and it gives us our first look at what to expect from the movie. There’s no mention of Janet Van Dyne here but we do get plenty of other big reveals, including a sneak peek at The Ghost, details on what happened to Scott Lang after Captain America: Civil War and more.

Even more interesting is getting to see The Wasp in action. Her powers clearly work a lot differently to Ant-Man’s and her wings and blasters both look pretty formidable as she takes on some goons.  It looks like director Peyton Reed is really upping the ante in terms of what we’ll see visually in Ant-Man and The Wasp because buildings, vehicles, and even a Pez dispenser shrink and increase in size here. What do you guys think of this first trailer for the sequel? Sound off below.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer.

Earlier tonight, the ‘Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom’ trailer was released, (after several days of being delayed) it had nowhere near the impact of the Avengers: Infinity War trailer much to the chagrin of Universal. (Avengers 12M YouTube views in 6 hours, Jurassic 4M YouTube views in 6 hours) However, the reactions have generally been quite positive, and as was pointed out to me by a friend, there are some fans of the franchise who believe the Jurassic films can do no wrong.  (I just think Jeff Goldblum can do no wrong).  Take a look at the trailer (if you haven’t seen it already) and sound off on what you think about this 5th installment.

Rampage: World Tour: The Video Game: The Movie, With The Rock? What?

Dwayne Johnson announced that the teaser trailer for Rampage would be with us today, and as promised, you can get your first look at some footage from the upcoming video game adaptation below.  The movie will be an adaptation of the classic arcade game, which focuses on three animals (a wolf, a crocodile and a gorilla) who fall victim to evil genetic editing, rapidly changing every strand of their DNA so they grow, evolve and mutate.  Johnson’s character is charged with tracking them down, but the gorilla just so happens to be a friend of his named George.  I really want to be excited about this movie, but it just look like San Andreas mixed with the new Jumanji and a splish-splash of Negan.  But let us know what you think by leaving a comment.

Just A Little Taste Of ‘Deadpool 2’.

Earlier today, we got the unexpected arrival of the first trailer for Deadpool 2. Now, an official website has been launched which seemong reveals that the sequel’s title is actually The Untitled Deadpool Sequel. Of course, it’s possible that this is just how it’s being referred to by the studio until the actual name of the movie is revealed but the way it’s being used here indicates otherwise. Bear in mind that previous material for the movie has also referred to it as Deadpool 2 and The Untitled Deadpool Sequel is the sort of weird, meta title you would expect a quirly release like this to have. I guess we’ll have to wait and see but talking of weird stuff, how about a new synopsis that reveals some fresh details about the movie? Er, yeah, this one probably isn’t what you’re hoping for then.

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

The New Star Wars Trailer Is Here.

Captain Phasma does a thing! The newest trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ is filled with many a shock, lots of surprise, and quite a bit of questions left to be answered.  I had a full blown tribunal discussion with a good friend of mine after he showed me this, but whether you’re a massive Star Wars fan, or you could take it or leave it, this is an amazing preview for what I’m sure will be an amazing addition to the Star Wars legacy.  Check the method.

I Know Him! He’s A Friend From Work.

In a surprise no one saw coming, Marvel Studios has released the first teaser trailer for their highly anticipated fall release, Thor Ragnarok, and it’s pretty damn awesome.  It’s not particularly forthcoming with plot details, but we do learn why Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder hasn’t been spotted with Mjolnir in any of the early promo art as Cate Blanchett’s Hela, headdress and all, shatters his mighty hammer to Kingdom Come and takes over Asgard. The trailer also shows off nearly all of the new and returning characters and closes with our hero stepping into the Grandmaster’s arena where he reencounters an old friend from work… but it doesn’t seem like the reunion will be as joyous as he had hoped.  Check out the trailer, which is set to Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song,” below:

Avengers Infinity War: Day One Documentary.

ne2lg0p3c84v53_1_b

To the closer followers of Marvel, and the mechanics behind their super hero films, Christmas came early last night when Marvel released a short “documentary” about Avengers Infinity War.  The video is quite informative, and gives the laymen some news they will be excited about, and the comic book connoisseur some things to be excited about.  (Why doesn’t Thor have his Hammer, and are Tony’s new suits automated, or is building them for himself.)  Regardless of how deep movie goers get into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the video below provides a very interesting look into the 3rd Avengers installment.
