An Architect Gone Mad

Without the use of a camera Portland-based artist Jim Kazanjian sifts through a library of some 25,000 images from which he carefully selects the perfect elements to digitally assemble mysterious buildings born from the mind of an architect gone mad. While the architectural and organic pieces seem wildly random and out of place, Kazanjian brings just enough cohesion to each structure to suggest a fictional purpose or story that begs to be told.

DJ Robbie Wilde. The DEAF DJ.

So upon reading the title of this post, people probably did either one of two things.  A, you either giggled, and thought “how could you have a deaf disk jockey”, or B, you’ve seen the incredible (and global) HP commercial that started airing recently, so you know exactly who I’m talking about.  If you happen to be in the A category, let me remind you that it’s hard enough to do what a true DJ does with all you senses intact, much less if one of them is missing.  Robbie’s story is one that proves that no matter what people say that you can’t do, if you want it bad enough, you can do it… even if it means becoming a deaf musician.  ‘It’s better to be the first you, than the second of someone else’. – Clinton Sparks.

Samuel L. Jackon’s Bedtime Story.

For some people, putting their children down to rest is a precious, heart warming, bonding moment they look forward to.  It can be a time when a child looks to their parent for comfort and protection, in the uncertainty of the night, or after the turmoil of a haphazard day.  For other parents however, bedtime is simply a time when they clock out of their parental job, and they just need their little to one to go the f*ck to sleep for a few hours.  Adam Mansbach’s book “Go The F*ck To Sleep” is almost a perfect blend between the two extremes of being sweet, nurturing, and totally fed up with your child.  Now for the epic twist… It’s narrated by Samuel L. Jackson himself.  Click the pic to listen. (via BuzzFeed)

Everyone remembers the Rock-Em-Sock-Em robots of the 80’s/90’s, and thats exactly what came to mind when I saw the trailer for the new Hugh Jackman movie Real Steel.  Check the synopsis below, and simply click the pic to see the trailer.

A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, Real Steel stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

50 Cent vs. World Star Hip Hop.

Shortly after well-known hip-hop website Worldstarhiphop.com shut down for unknown reasons, 50 Cent took to his Twitter to let it be known he was the force behind its temporary power cut.

Just hours later, the controversial rapper made a call to New York radio station Hot 97 to publicly express the reasons behind his actions towards the site. “I took a lawsuit… we’ve been through the process for a while,” he said. “Two weeks from now we’ll be in mediation to find out exactly how much they owe me. They’ve been advertising me on Worldstar for two years straight. They used the ‘I Am Robot’ image at the top of the site and my head was on the actual robot.

“Away from that, them encouraging disrespect on every level possible” is another reason for his dislike of the site, 50 added.  But in the same conversation — and in true 50 form — 50 sarcastically said he might’ve not been responsible for the site coming down, confusing listeners as he teased, “I didn’t shut them down. If I rob a bank I wouldn’t tell you I did… [but] maybe I did. It’s up to the public to decide.”  To put more of a twist on the story, Worldstarhiphop.com owner and CEO, a man named Q, called the radio station just minutes after and negated all of 50’s claims of involvement. “It’s a technical difficulty and has nothing to do with 50 or homeland security or hackers,” he said. “We’re more or less having difficulties with the site itself as far as our server. We’re getting so much traffic we constantly have to upgrade.”  To further discredit 50’s claims, Q reminded listeners that the site had been down before. “We were down in ’07  because we got hacked. We got hacked last year and we’ve also had problems with our bandwith before,” he said.  According to Q, the site will be up in the next 24 hours. Q also gave 50 Cent a shout out for the “good promo,” although he admitted that he and 50 do have personal beef due to miscommunication and a “falling out a while back.”  50 Cent said during his chat that in the new year he is “encouraging people to be completely positive” and to “live better,” but that he has “old things that have to be dealt with.”
