The 2022 extravaganza teams four Dre-affiliated artists with the iconic L.A. producer for the most hip-hop-steeped halftime show in the Super Bowl’s 56-year history.

The book’s content is entirely printed on rolling paper, made with the help of San Francisco-based agency, Periera & O’Dell. The book features lyrics of Snoop’s classic songs from “Gin & Juice”, “Nuthin’ Like a ‘G’ Thang”, “Beautiful” to “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and many more. “Rolling Words” is packaged in a hemp-like cover with the spine that doubles up as a match-striking surface. The pages are also perforated for easy tearing. The Doggfather himself said that he created the book for one reason: “So people can always remember, you can roll with an expert or you can roll with Snoop.”
Snoop Lion drops the music video for his first reggae single ‘La La La’ from his upcoming album. Early in the summer Snoop Dogg changed his name to Snoop Lion, and announced that he would be teaming up with Diplo to drop a reggae album.
I been on the top ever since I been in it. I got rap songs that will never die. That ain’t with no disrespect but I’m tired of rapping. I wanna do a record, a whole record with no rapping, fuck Snoop Dogg. Don’t think about none the shit he rapped about. Hustlin’ and making money and drug dealing and shooting. All that shit will be out of here. – Snoop Lion
Snoop Lion wasted no time either, releasing his ‘La La La’ single from the upcoming ‘Reincarnated’ album. “We worked with Dr. Dre on this and it was Dre’s vision to bring this back to life,” said Nick Smith, president of AV Concepts, the San Diego company that created the hologram. “It was his idea from the very beginning and we worked with him and his camp to utilize the technology to make it come to life. You can take their likenesses and voice and … take people that haven’t done concerts before or perform music they haven’t sung and digitally recreate it.
The Tupac hologram was several months in the planning and took nearly four months to create in a studio and though Smith was not able to reveal the exact price tag for the illusion, he said a comparable one could cost anywhere from $100,000 to more than $400,000 to pull off. “I can’t say how much that event cost, but I can say it’s affordable in the sense that if we had to bring entertainers around world and create concerts across the country, we could put [artists] in every venue in the country,”
Snoop D-O-double-G and Wiz Khalifa have quite a bond, not only because they both have a “green thumb”, but they get along inside and out of the studio. Most people get to see the interviews and public interactions between these green genies, but recently Wiz and Snoop met up with Warren G, and the beginning of the session was all caught on tape. Check the method.
I know quite a few people that think of cover bands as groups who can’t produce their own material, and are forced to take the already successful material of others. But in most cases, this is very far from the truth. Even further away from the truth is the belief that hip hop songs can’t be properly re-conceived by anyone other than a hip hop artist. I’ve got 5 videos that prove otherwise.

5. Anya Marina – Whatever You Like
Thanks to exposure from Gossip Girl (yeah son) this song flew into all of our hearts with Anya Marina’s exotic voice singing to pre-jail T.I. Sung from a female perspective, Marina seem completely in charge. it’s more pop than rock, but it’s still an amazing rendition.
s
4. The Fray – Heartless
Say what you will about Isaac Slade’s sing-song voice, but it does wonders to Kanye’s heavily auto-tuned break-up jam. The band’s cover is haunting and you can really feel the pain behind the lyrics the way they perform it.

3. Jenny Owen Youngs – Hot In Herre
Hearing a soft-spoken Jenny Owen Youngs sing “I was like, good gracious ass is bodacious / flirtaticious, tryin’ to show faces / lookin’ for the right time to shoot my steam” is the best way to open the most awesome rap cover ever. Throughout the song she sings with such seriousness about “poppin’ the bottles” that I had to listen to it twice to hear through my own laughter.

2. Framing Hanley – Lollipop
I know many readers may not know that a mashup of Lil Wayne’s track Lollipop that basically took me from an amateur with a buzz, to a up-and-coming professional. That being said, I have a special appreciate for this song, and personal distaste for anyone who messes it up. But when my good friend Adam Patton shot the Framing Hanley version my way, I was far more than impressed. When you watch the video however, keep in mind that this version is like a little mini movie, with a plot and the whole nine yards, but the actual songs starts at about 2:20 into the video.

1. Ben Folds – B*tches Aint Shit
This song was the inspiration for this list. It’s everything a rap cover needs to be: make it original without changing lyrics. By far one the best and funniest covers I’ve ever heard… Hands down.
Snoop D-O-double-jizzle met up with Britain’s best radio host, Tim Westwood recently for an interview. During the course of the show Snoop discussed the newest delay behind Dre’s Detox album that was set to drop when I was still in high school. Detox keeps getting pushed back further and further, but Snoop gave some valuable insight as to why. Check the method below.
Yes, not only is this true, it’s actually pretty old. I got into a heated debate on the phone with my working colleague Neil about Snoop Dogg, and I mentioned his participation in the Adidas/Star Wars collab. Neil instantly called me a liar and told me I was making things up, so I decided to write this post just in case anyone else was unaware of the summer 2010 Adidas ad featuring Snoop Dogg, David Beckham, Daft Punk, and a few other big entertainers.
Further than that, there was a second ad put out by Adidas featuring the same stars shortly after. I know there are probably sneaker heads (like Gabby) cussing under their breath about how old this is, but I’m just trying to prove a point.
On the way to my campus, I got a first look at the video for Snoop and Wiz’s video for ‘That Good’. I’ve always loved the song, and was impressed by the music video, so I had to throw it up. Before the video though, I also ran into some folks on the train that asked me why I hadn’t blogged in an alarming two days, lol. I just want to make it clear to all my readers, that I try to post 5 or 6 times a day, but at the end of the day, I’m still just a college student as busy as everyone else, so my apologies if every so often I go a day or two without posting. But moving right along, check the video for “That Good” below.
YES, I’m well aware that Christmas is OVER. But the day after christmas, I was trapped in the house, snowed in with my parents, and got so stir-crazy that I started chopping up christmas songs like the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. I got inspired when I realized that ‘Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer’ has the same BPM as 50 Cent’s – “I Get Money”, so I proceeded to mix, mash, and smush every song I could think of (that fit appropriately) into the collection. What came about as the end result is something I put to accompany some photos of my christmas day, but when tons of people ended up asking me where they could download the song, I figured I’d put it up online for the folks. So take a listen and enjoy… And keep in mind that next year when your family starts boring Christmas songs you hate, that you have something a bit more spicy to keep you entertained.
I have an adverse opinion of autotune and other voice altering effects in music (especially since I’m gaining ground as an experienced studio engineer). But when I heard Snoop’s new single “Wet”, I was thoroughly impressed by the sound he was able to achieve when he stepped out of the box. The beat is quite simple, (somewhat reminiscent of “Wait” by the Ying Yang Twins, but a more relaxed vibe), and is complimented by a slower style of rap by Snoop that still has the ability to get the right crowd in the club moving. Click the pic to take a listen, and let me know what you think.
Nappy Boy online recently released a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the video for new the DJ Khaled track featuring T-Pain, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, and Rick Ross. “All I Do Is Win” is the first single off Khaled’s recently released “Victory” album.
Freaknik as some of us may remember, was the massive party held in ATL during spring break at which students from all the black universities were in attendance. Now, Freaknik has a different meaning to those of us tuned into Adult Swim on the night of March 7th. Freakink was “resurected” in the 1 hour cartoon special ‘Freaknik: The Musical’ staring the voices of T-Pain, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, DJ Drama, Lil Jon, and many, many more. You can check it out here. But hurry, it expires on March 23rd 2010.
