Take The First Look At Luke Cage.

luke-cage-head

The trailer below may not necessarily be the FIRST look at the mighty Luke Cage, seeing as we got watch him tear things up in Netflix’s Jessica Jones.  There was also a brief teaser of him tearing through a gang of thugs from Comic-Con 2016, which was amazing. This however is the first look at our hero, the story we’ll be getting in the series, and the world he’s be fighting through. So get your first expansive look into the new Luke Cage series.

Have You Ever Seen A Rose Pose?

carl7

The melancholy mood of Stockholm-based photographer Carl Kleiner’s photography series, Postures, proves that while some of us may be talented in floral arrangement, only Kleiner has the gift of a tulip whisperer.  And yes, they’re not actually roses, but using tulips, simple props and splendid lighting, Kleiner has created an eerily human atmosphere that suggests that each pose, in its skill and elegance, is somehow a sad premonition of an ending. A cut flower is doomed to die but in their final moments, these tulips are making art.

Daredevil: Season 2, First Reviews.

131415

The first serious look at Daredevil was released a few days ago, however, the first set of reviews for the entire season are starting pour in… Much to no one’s surprise, they seem to be exceedingly positive.  That said, from the sounds of things some of the pacing issues and jarring tonal shifts that became an issue during the Man Without Fear’s first TV outing are also present – but for the most part these initial reactions are very positive.

As expected, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher seems to have emerged as a highlight, with his take on the vicious vigilante being hailed as a brilliantly complex antagonist the same vein as Wilson Fisk. Another new character we haven’t seen as much of is Elektra, so fans should be very happy to hear that Elodie Yung is highly praised for her incarnation of the seductively skilled warrior in every review so far.

Fear The Walking Dead: First Look.

fear-1

Although it was announced at Comic-Con that Fear The Walking Dead will premiere on AMC on August 23rd, the first look surfaced online recently. The companion series is a prequel dealing with the zombie outbreak, and this first trailer does a great job of setting the tone. Will it live up to the series it’s based on? That remains to be seen. Once again, we’ll update this post with a region-free version of the trailer the second it becomes available. What do you think about this first look at Fear The Walking Dead?

halo-nightfall-banner3

Microsoft and Xbox Entertainment have released a special “First Look” featurette for the upcoming Halo: Nightfall that not only goes behind the scenes of the digital feature, but also shows off more footage from the film as well as a very brief look at Halo 5: Guardians.  Mike Colter stars in the series as Jameson Locke, a surgically-enhanced super soldier who is a rising star in a futuristic Spartan army and troubled by the military industrial complex he inhabits. The film takes place between the events of Halo 4 and the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, in which Locke will play an integral role.  TV director Sergio Mimica-Gezzan is at the helm of the project with “Prison Break” creator Paul Scheuring providing the script. Ridley Scott and David Zucker are executive producing the project, which is said to be similar in scope to Machinima’s recent Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn webseries. The film will be arriving in addition to the live-action series that Steven Spielberg is producing for Xbox One.

Halo: Nightfall is included as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection and will be accessible digitally on Xbox Live beginning on November 11, 2014.

Luminous Sea Creatures

joshualambus-1

Photographer Joshua Lambus has put together a beautiful series of photographs showing luminous creatures of the deep glowing with light against a pitch-black background. The project is titled “Blackwater.”

joshualambus-2

The photographs were captured in the ocean during the Hawaii-based photographer’s deep dives. “My photos are to show people things they haven’t seen before… or maybe things they see all the time… in a way they’ve never cared to look,” Lambus writes. Lambus is a veteran of deep dives, having logged hundreds of dives for both personal and commercial purposes. The dives are held in the darkness of the night in water that is thousands of feet deep. Lambus ventures deep under the surface to photograph the animals as they float by.

‘Cut food’ is a series of photographs by studio photographer Beth Galton, which exposes the innards of everyday culinary items. Together with stylist Charlotte omnes, the duo divided each of the diverse food items, allowing for a surprising glimpse a the cross sections of commonplace eats. Particularly interesting are the halved liquids — some of the food items, such as the doughnut and the boiled eggs, were able to be cut smoothly in half without any manipulation but other tricky elements, like soup and coffee, required the use of a gelatin subtance to solidify the fluid forms.

Starring are 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard (Spy Kids: All The Time in the World) as the girl — Riley Matthews — 14-year-old Sabrina Carpenter (“Sofia the First”) as her best friend Maya, and Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage reprising the Cory and Topanga roles they made famous in ABC’s popular sitcom “Boy Meets World” (1993-2000).

The announcement was made today by Adam Bonnett, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. Production on the multi-camera series will begin this summer in Los Angeles for a scheduled 2014 premiere on Disney Channel.  Bonnett said, “Boy Meets World’ and its story of adolescent self discovery resonated with an entire generation of tweens. In the same way audiences fell in love with Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, we look forward to introducing our viewers to their daughter Riley Matthews in ‘Girl Meets World’ and building a memorable connection with a whole new generation of fans.”

Set in New York City, the new comedy series will tell the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that “Boy Meets World” is renowned for — only this time from a tween girl’s perspective — as the curious and bright 7th grader, Riley, and her quick-witted friend Maya embark on an unforgettable middle school experience. But their plans for a carefree year will be adjusted slightly under the watchful eyes of Riley’s dad who’s also a faculty member (and their new History teacher) and Riley’s mom who owns a trendy afterschool hangout that specializes in pudding.

Jacobs said, “I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids.’Girl Meets World’ is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made ‘Boy Meets World’ so popular.”  The series was created by Michael Jacobs (“Boy Meets World,” “Dinosaurs,” “My Two Dads,” “Charles in Charge”) and April Kelly (“Boy Meets World”) and is executive-produced by Jacobs. “Girl Meets World” is from It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc. and carries a TV-G parental guideline.

The artist created the moon 10 years ago for a contemporary art performance, after which he took it back to his apartment and eventually started traveling around the world.

It’s easy to forget how much the comic stylings of the 60’s and 70’s have inspired modern films and just how timeless those two-dimensional, spandex-clad superheroes can be. This series replaces live action with the lines they were born from, interlacing cinematography with storyboard.

Vitange Playboy Bunny Shots.

Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Clubs—in existence from the early 1960s to the mid-80s—were perhaps the best manifestation of his singular, swinging-bachelor-pad lifestyle. And the waitresses (those cantilevered, cotton-tailed ladies in corsets and hose) still endure as one of America’s most lasting sex symbols. In conjunction with Bruce Handy’s comprehensive oral history of the clubs, which appeared in the May 2011 U.K. edition of Vanity Fair, looks back at those girls in ears.

Check Out The Brand New Capain Planet.

With all the reboots, and remakes of old series that are cropping up all over media, you wouldn’t normally be surprised to find out about some sort of re-imagination of a series as classic as ‘Captain Planet’.  However, when you know that this new take on this old show is done by Funny Or Die, you should know what’s up.  The hillarious (and uncensored video) features Don Cheadle as good ol’ Cap. Planet.  Don wan’t looking as gangsta as usual, but once the skit began, I realized the look had nothing to do with it.  He’s as lethal as Captain Planet should have been in the first place.  Check the method below.

Old School Gems.

NO THIS IS NOT A PICTURE OF ME.

It seems like ever since I put up the post about odd photos from the past (Parts 1 and 2), I’ve been getting recommendations about places to procure vintage photos of all different types.  I’m NOT trying to say that any suggestions from the fans were disregarded.  But one collection in particular, consisting of 16 retro photos caught my eye in a unique way.  Each of them has such an individual and intriguing element about them that I just can’t put my finger on.  Check the method.
