Sony Pictures has released the official teaser trailer for Venom, and it really is a true teaser as we don’t actually get to see the titular antihero in all his glory. Instead, we’re greeted with a variety of action beats featuring Academy Award-nominated star Tom Hardy battling the demon from within. The footage also provides us with our first official looks at 4x Academy Award-nominee Michelle Williams, Primetime Emmy-winner Riz Ahmed, and several others, but we still don’t have an real idea as to who they’re playing.
Director David Ayer and the cast of Suicide Squad have taken to social media to unveil the first official (and very awesome) posters for the highly anticipated DC Comics adaptation, and they offer up a very unique take on the Task Force X villains. The minimalistic art style lends beautifully to the uniqueness of the film and the characters in it.
The Turtles have been popping back up in popularity since the 2000’s, and aside from new video games, and comic crossovers, their movies are extremely well known. (Well known and well liked are two different things), but weather you knew it or not, the Leo, Mikey, Don, and Raph were destined for a comeback. The stakes seem quite a bit higher, as New York appears to be invaded by someone (#BringDatKrang) and there’s also the arrival of Casey Jones. It may be quite early to tell, but this will probably be a much better film than the original.

X-Men Apocalypse (oddly enough) was announced before its predecessor (X-Men: Days Of Future Past) was even released. That being the case, the hype surrounding this film has been palpable, and now we know it’s for good reason. The (young) X-Men squaring off with the most feared advisory in their universe seems like a good idea on paper, but seeing some of it come to life is downright exciting. Check the method below.
During my brief time working with Sony, I’ve had to marvelous opportunity to see some of the best work put out under their umbrella. My closer friends know my particular connection with this movie, but now that it’s been officially released, I’m proud to present the first teaser trailer for Spectre… the 24th adventure in the James Bond series.
Seth MacFarlane and his out of control sense of humor is continuing his take over of all things media. After the success of Ted, MacFarlane is back for his second big screen project. The movie personally looks hilarious, and we can’t wait to see it, but before it comes out this summer, take a look at the first red-band trailer that recently surfaced online.
Check out these stunning images of poster artwork for the Doctor’s latest adventures. For people who do not follow the show, Doctor Who is a British science-fiction television program produced by the BBC. The program depicts the adventures of the Doctor, a Time Lord—a time-travelling humanoid alien. He explores the universe in his TARDIS, a sentient time-travelling space ship. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. Along with a succession of companions, the Doctor faces a variety of foes while working to save civilisations, help ordinary people, and right wrongs.
Noir style work has always been visually fascinating. There’s something to be said about creating an art piece that says so much by saying so little. This poster collection byMarko Manev demonstration that even in Noir style you know exactly who your favorite hero is without having to be draped in all they’re usual colors.
Mondo, the collectible art boutique arm of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, has announced their second Batman print for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. The limited edition variant of this print from world-renowned artist Olly Moss was available at Mondo’s Comic-Con booth.
Academy Award winning director Martin Scorsese has announced he will produce Silver Ghost, a film that chronicles the lives of the names behind the formation of Rolls-Royce. Silver Ghost will tell the story of motoring pioneer Lord John Douglas-Scott Montagu, his wife Cis and his secret love affair with his secretary and mistress, Eleanor Velasco Thornton. It also will detail Montagu’s connection and friendships with Rolls-Royce founders Charles Rolls and Henry Royce and British artist and sculptor Charles Sykes. Thornton was the inspiration for the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, designed by Sykes, that to this day adorns all Rolls-Royce cars. “When I read the story of ‘Silver Ghost’, I was mesmerised,” Scorsese said. “I immediately thought this is a picture that has to be made. I didn’t hesitate for a moment.” The script has been penned by Kiera Knightley’s mum, Sharman Macdonald and Christian Bale is rumored to be in line to take a starring role in the film as Lord Montagu.
Think Invisible is an awesome project created by Adri Bodor & Mark Szulyovszky and is made at Colabs… How can you see anything that isn’t there actually? It is the core question of Think Invisible. Circles give deficient contour of the pictures – that’s the simple method how we make hundred-times-seen pictures interesting again. It is not the magic that lets you recognize the whole design, but your mind. This tricky illusion of the contours intentionally shows important details, and hides all the rest. Since what matters is invisible. Take a careful look on the pictures below and let’s see how many of them you can recognize.
Swissted is an ongoing project by graphic designer Mike Joyce, owner of Stereotype Design in New York City. drawing from his love of punk rock and Swiss modernism, two movements that have (almost) nothing to do with one another. Mike has redesigned vintage punk, hardcore, and indie rock show flyers into international typographic style posters. Each design is set in Berthold Akzidenz Grotesk medium, all lowercase. every single one of these shows actually happened.
Sci-Fi films with monstrous budgets are a dime a dozen now a days, but seem to lack whatever quality it is that captivates moviegoers. Flicks like John Carter or Wrath Of The Titans all seemed good in theory, and for the amount of money they cost, should have been great, but failed to deliver to audiences. It takes a unique, interesting, and well delivered story to make a science fiction movie stand above the rest now a days, and Rian Johnson’s “Looper” smells like it has all the right ingredients. Starring Jason Gordon Levitt, and Bruce Willis, the move seems like a welcomed departure from the generic movie scripts that are coming to the screen this year. Aside from ‘The Avengers’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, ‘Looper’ is one of the films I’m looking forward to the most this year. Check the official synopsis below, and look out for a trailer coming in the next week or so.
Time travel will be invented, but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper”—a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)—is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good. . . until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.
Street art is honestly by far my favorite medium for visually expressing ideas. It literally comes in all different forms, and can inspire, scare, bewilder, warn, and make people laugh. This is probably my 9th or 10th street art collection on this blog in the last 2 years. So although I think one or two photos may have been repeated in previous posts, check out all these incredibly interesting pieces of street art.
The ‘Tree of Life’ poster, looks (when seen from far away), like a typical cross section of a tree stump. However, when a closer look is taken, you can see that the black circles aren’t wood rings, they are hundreds of different silhouettes from the animal kingdom. The project was intended to draw attention to the destruction of the rainforest and the subsequent destruction of animal habitats.
The first time I remember seeing Pac Div was on the ‘Great Hangover’ Tour with Asher Roth, and the entire show they put on was praiseworthy. So seeing Asher and the Pac on the same track doesn’t come as a surprise, what may surprise some is why they haven’t done this a million times before. Click either of the pics to take a listen to the lyrical banger ‘Useless’.
Mico Toledo is a graphic designer who loves typography and music. Combing those two loves, he has started a project entitled “Music Philosophy,” in which he creates a weekly visual interpretation of philosophical song quotes. As Mico points out on his website, these poster designs look great as iPhone desktop wallpapers, and are available for free download on his site. (They also come as silkscreened t-shirts.)
Shortly after launching its men’s campaign with tennis player Rafael Nadal, Armani has released long-awaited images for its jeans range starring pop star Rihanna. The singer is taking over from actress Megan Fox for the campaign, with the second batch of images (for the brand’s underwear line) yet to be brought out. Rihanna is upping her advertising game at the moment, also having just been named the new face of skincare brand Nivea.
As many people already know, Captain America signaled the end of the initial Marvel Comics movies period before the Avengers. (The Avengers is one of the single largest ensemble collaborations between multiple films in the history of cinema… just in case you were doubting how epic this movie will be.) Recently however, some rather awesome artwork has surface that showcases all the individual heroes of the film. The Avengers assemble in the summer of 2012, and will undoubted be one of the biggest movies of the year. But just in case you really are unfamiliar with what happens at the end of Captain America, just check the preview below.
Marvel isn’t the only company planning to take over the box office and break records for next year’s summer season, DC Comics is also pouring it on thick with two different super-hero franchises. The primary looker is ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Staring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, and Anne Hathaway, this is set to be the final chapter in Christopher Noland’s Batman trilogy.
One interesting thing about some of the photos being revealed, and the news on the official website is that Selina Kyle is listed as a character, but ‘Catwoman’ isn’t. (Selina Kyle is the Catwoman’s true identity in the comics.) So when the first photos of Anne Hathaway as Selina debuted with her jacking Bruce Wayne’s batpod, it was somewhat evident that she may not take the Catwoman persona at all, she seems to be bad-ass enough without holding a whipe, or putting on the claws.

And the final banger… One that WON’T help tip the box-office battle of 2012 in the favor of DC, (because it drops 2012) is The Man Of Steel. Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have provided the first look at the new Man of Steel, revealing star Henry Cavill as Superman in the film from director Zack Snyder. The film also stars three-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, and Oscar nominee Laurence Fishburne as her editor-in-chief, Perry White. Starring as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent, are Oscar nominee Diane Lane and Academy Award winner Kevin Costner. Squaring off against the superhero are two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by Oscar nominee Michael Shannon, and Faora, Zod’s evil partner, played by Antje Traue. Also from Superman’s native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, played by Julia Ormond, and Superman’s father, Jor-El, portrayed by Academy Award winner Russell Crowe. Check the Man of Steel’s first picture below.
As an avid Sherlock Holmes fan since I was a young lad, the release of the Guy Ritchie adaptation was the source of a lot of excitement. For anyone who hasn’t seen the 2009 Sherlock Holmes, the end of the movie was a blatant announcement that there would be a sequel. Of course I’ve been waiting patiently for a trailer, but I had to settle for 2 new posters released by Yahoo.
And as if the posters for “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” wasn’t enough to get my heart rate going, I also caught a glimpse of the new official Avengers poster. It’s a hyper-realistic illustration of all the main characters, including Black Widow and Hawk-Eye.
Being around graphic designers all the time gives me a distinct appreciation for the craft, and constantly working with them always gives me an astute understanding of what exactly it is they do. Leaning more about design in general happens for me weather I like it or not sometimes, but these set of 12 posters by Tobias Bergdahl gave me a better grip on the mental mechanics of a successful graphic designer. After a lecture by designer Adrian Shaughnessy, Bergdahl created the posters with masterful style, check the method below.
