bvsquad2

Everyone loves exciting movie trailers before a film, and with movie previews being released onto the internet before they even hit theaters, people are watching them with a frenzied frequency.  But what happens when trailers reveal TOO much about a film?  Mr. Sunday Movies, (1 half of the Weekly Planet podcast, of which I am a massive fan) delves into how over revealing plot information can destroy the way people walk into a film, and furthermore, 6 disastrous examples of when a trailer has put too much on display about a film.

Lord of the Rings-Inspired Hotel

Located in the Black Hills of South Dakota is a place perfect for any fan of Middle Earth. Nicknamed the Hobbit treehouse, this elevated rental property is owned by Gordon Mack, a man who was inspired by the beloved Lord of the Rings films. Perched 16 feet above the ground, the structure has rounded doors and windows, with an interior space that’ll make Tolkien devotees swoon, by including details like: Elvish-language signs; a mask worn by Sauron; and a gauntlet with the gold ring. There are even Hobbit-feet slippers that are specially tailored for all age groups.

To stay in this whimsical locale, you must book the country house that it’s attached to. It’s called the Chateau De Soleil, and the four-bedroom building can accommodate up to 16 people at a time. This makes it ideal for a large family, and the treehouse complements the getaway as a fun and special place for kids to stay.

Ring Leading Of The Future

Ever since the evolution of cell phones, the need for watches has quickly disappeared. As the style of society also has changed the watch came back as statement. Large watches represent more of a fashion sense than a conventional use for an item. But now, a completely revolutionary idea has changed the time game. It is a watch with three movable rows; each with a unique function designed specifically in regard to helping tell time.  The first row shows numbers 1 to 24, the second shows 1 to 59, and the third sports little dots, which correspond to the hours, minutes and seconds, respectively.  To tell the time, built-in LEDs will light up the corresponding labels as soon as the ring is spun.  The Ring Clock is made from 316L surgical stainless steel and has a simple and sleek design. With the lights that are faint but still visible, this ring is sure to start some great conversations.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Although I’m a huge movie buff, I do have to admit that I wasn’t THE biggest fan of the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ trilogy.  That being said, I’m well aware that they were some of the defining films of my generation, and when I heard (on HBO’s ‘Entourage’ of all places) that ‘The Hobbit’ would be getting a silver screen debut, I was excited at the notion.  Now the first trailer has come out, and I’m sure I’ll be one of the first people there opening weekend to see how things in the Shire were before Frodo was head hobbit in charge.  Below is the films official synopsis, but click the pic above to watch the preview.

“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever … Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths ofguile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
