Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) flabbergasted the country when he randomly released his incredible video for “This Is America”. The symbolism, reflections of the current state of the U.S., and the over all tone of the music video is undeniably well thought out, original, and has resonated to not just Americans. Several artists from all around the world have stepped up to represent the problems in the places that they live. NOW, not to downplay the plights of other nations, but the similar styles, which are directly bitten from Gambino seem a bit unoriginal, and although the messages are clear, insightful, and informative, after a bit, one would hope that these artists would have found their own way to convey their thoughts. That being said, these “remixes” of ‘This Is America’ are extremely worth taking a listen to. Between I-NZ bringing light to the state of Iraq post Americas 2003 invasion, or Falz discussing the conditions of current day Nigera, you can search for almost any country you want, you’ll find one of these videos.
