Now You Can Print Your Own Bike?


Apart from the electronics, and the rider, every ounce of the BigRep Nera is 3D printed. From the handlebars, to the body, to the seat, suspension, and even the tires, the Nera is an absolutely stunning feat of design and engineering melded together to show how far additive 3D printing has come. The e-bike’s body comes with an edgy, chiseled design that gives it character and strength, and even includes a flexible bumper underneath the seat to absorb shock. Even the airless tires are made from 3D printing, with a lattice structure that gives it both strength and flexibility, allowing it to mimic natural rubber tires.

A 3D printer selling company, BigRep came to limelight with their airless bicycle tires that we featured earlier this year. The Nera takes BigRep’s PRO FLEX filament and TPU printing technology to the next step, not only by building an entire vehicle out of it, but by building a much more powerful vehicle that tests the material on a much more advanced level. What’s next… a sportscar? A manned drone?? Who knows!

Designer Ron Ferencz wants you to meet the “ROV”, a new ‘Remote Operated Vehicle’. Most drones dominate the skies, but ROV’s cooler than most drones. It operates underwater. The ROV’s design is a classic blend of bio-mimicry and form-follows-function. It retains its drone-esque character while roughly emulating the way a fish moves from left to right to cut across the water. A drone would be incomplete with the visually dominant fans, and ROV has three of them towards the rear. The main fan triggers upwards and downwards movement, while the pair at the complete end are responsible for propulsion.While we’re on the subject of what drones would be incomplete without, the ROV also comes with a pretty nifty camera that allows one to not just navigate the drone, but also take some rather nifty underwater footage. The New Drone Not Run By The Government.

DJI, a company specializing in the development of flight control technology, has introduced their latest photography drone, the ‘Spreading Wings S900′.  Like most of their remote-controlled helicopters, the automated device features advanced autopilot technology coupled with a unique gimbal stabilization system, delivering video footage and images of comparable quality to those shot on manned helicopters.  The device has a lightweight, highly portable frame; the arms and landing gear are made of carbon fiber, which increases stability and strength without sacrificing performance.  The portable drone is designed with arms that fold in order to save space, a redesigned and rebuilt power distribution system with gold-plated metal bearings that secure the power cords during flight, and a removable upper center board, meaning set-up time just takes a few minutes.  Combined with 4114 pro motors and 1552 folding propellers, the S900 has a maximum thrust of 2.5 kilograms.

 

 

Retractable landing gear and a special low gimbal mounting bracket give users a wide range of possible shooting angles and camera motions.  The latest motor adopts a single wire stator design, offering improved heat dissipation and better performance.  Each arm is designed with an 8° inversion and a 3° inclination, making the aircraft more stable when rolling and pitching, yet more flexible when rotating.  As the gimbal bracket is separated from the main frame by specially designed dampers, it significantly reduces high-frequency vibrations, resulting in a clearer and sharper shot.  The specs are readily available online for anyone looking to purchase.

The World’s First Fully Autonomous UAV Drone Aircraft

Developed by french Lehmann Aviation, the LA100 is conceived as the world’s first fully autonomous UAV drone aircraft.
designed for capturing images and HD video using a GoPro, the system takes flight at heights of 80-100 meters, returning automatically to the user within 5 minutes. With options to mount the camera on the top wing or bottom wing for
simultaneous use of two GoPro’s, the unit is capable of withstanding harsh environments and diverse climate conditions: from -25°C to +60°C, humid or dry air and high wind resistance. made mostly out of carbon fiber and foam, the LA100 is also easy to transport, weighing less than 1 kg with a wingspan of less than 1 meter long.
