Orchestral Movements From The Hood.

sir-mix-a-lot-baby-got-backSir Mix A-lot and the Seattle Symphony has come together (I never thought I’d write that sentence) to do what S.M.A. lovingly calls Orchestral Movements From The Hood night.  Now in its third year, Seattle Symphony’s critically acclaimed Sonic Evolution project creates a bridge between the Symphony and Seattle’s storied reputation as launching pad for some of the most creative musicians on the popular music scene. Each year, in celebration of the past, present and future of our city’s musical legacy, Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony commission world-class composers to write orchestral world premieres inspired by bands and artists that launched from, or are related to, Seattle.  In addition to writing a brand new composition inspired by Seattle’s own Sir Mix-A-Lot, composer Gabriel Prokofiev also orchestrated two of the legendary rapper’s most famous hits for this year’s concert, including “Baby Got Back,” for which Sir Mix-A-Lot joined Ludovic Morlot and the Orchestra on stage at Benaroya Hall.

c9bc42c688589d3ed7d720fa18da4d61

Ukraine’s Got Talent winner Anastasia Sokolova, has been blowing up all over YouTube with her routines.  Some dare to say that her appeal is only sexual, but pole dancing is a form of performance art.  Although traditionally associated with strip clubs, it combines dance and acrobatics and requires quite a bit of skill to pull off.  Weather your opinion of Ms. Sokolova is that we appeal is driven by the provocative nature of her dance, or by her talent, one thing is undeniable, she’s being recognized for what she does.

Captura-de-pantalla-2012-04-25-a-las-11.11.34

Men, women and children are trafficked – tricked, forced and exploited in the sex industry. Awareness campaign created by Duval Guillaume Modem and produced by monodot in support of STOP THE TRAFFIK.

While many photo innovators cease developing outside their fait accompli, Bertil Nilsson clearly illustrates with his phosphorescent images that is evidently not the case. As the intense lens aficionado propels brilliantly beyond mere accomplishments to bloom into a fearless, funky, and futuristic artesian who demands all eyes on his work with a click of the shutter. Many mouths are left agape as viewers are often transfixed at the magnitude of Nilsson’s talents as it washes deliciously and ever so coolly across our spirits.

Interactive Blue Light Art by Gabey Tjon a Tham

Interactive-Blue-Light-Art-by-Gabey-Tjon-a-Tham-3

Interactive artist Gabey Tjon a Tham has created a light installation in which lights dance to music and spiral in different forms. In the piece Repetition At My Distance, the blue lights are transformed into beautiful twists that change shape as they move, sparking a new era of mobile 3D art. The art form in the future may adapt to reacting with other lights, voice and other inputs.

There are a total of 16 dancing streams of light that change with the vibrations of the speakers, varying the speed, brightness, and synchronization as the lights dim and brighten. The lights even move independently and others they all synchronize together. At some points some of the lights disappear while some remain on and still moving.

Clube Disco – Sao Paulo, Brazil

The 12-year-old Clube Disco night club in São Paulo was reborn this fall. It now carries its past proudly yet offers a completely upgraded experience. Brazilian architect Guto Requena worked with architect Mauricio Arruda on this project. We like the retro custom-designed furniture that gives a nod to the 1970s Brazilian style and mixes nicely with the black-leather, exposed-pipes underground disco feel. And we like the tunnel that was re-envisioned by Brazilian artist Kleber Matheus.

Ballet vs. Krump in 360 Degrees.

“The 360 Project” is an exploration into the crossroads of photography and motion pictures. It is a study of peak dance movements, captured simultaneously by 48 cameras aligned in a circle.  There are two components to “The 360 Project”… “Ballet 360” features ballerinas from Canada’s National Ballet School, “Krump 360” features dancers from Northbuck Krump. The two styles of dance represent polemic perspectives in both technique and origin.  One is beauty, the other beast.  The resulting images resemble a type of digital statue, a frozen, peak moment, embodying the essence of each dance form in 360 degrees.

Dancing People.

My primary job consists of making people dance.  So obviously seeing people dance is something I thoroughly enjoy.  But this collection I stumbled across by multiple photographers of the most popular styles of dancing, totally blows my mind, check the method of these photos of dancers doing what they do best.

The Sun Drop Commercial.

I have alot of exciting projects going on, revolving around women, including interviews with 2 British beauties, (Carmel Candy, and Jessica Castillo) and a photo series in May with a German hottie.   But the girl in the new ‘Sun Drop’ soda commercial is something else all together. First of all, this commercial should have for sure been a Superbowl ad, and features music from Snoop Dog, and narration from Fat Man Scoop. But more importantly the girl dancing in the commercial is such a G, you just have to respect it. She starts off rather unsuspectingly, opening a soda, (actually in the begining she almost sort of reminds me of a girl named Kari I had a crush on in college.)  But immediately after opening the soda, she uh… “drops it like its hott” and proceeds to dance her ass off for the duration of the commercial.  Check the method.
