A ‘Wine Glass’ For Coca-Cola

coca-cola-glass-600x463

Coca-Cola is trying to convince consumers that a specially designed glass can also enhance the flavors of their fizzy drink. Developed in partnership with Riedel, the new glasses are inspired by the curves of the original Coca-Cola contoured bottle, and are said to capture “the distinct spices, aroma and taste of Coca-Cola.”

Euphony

‘Euphony’ by los angeles-based collaborative design and fabrication studio ball nogues is a permanent architectural installation at the recently opened music city center in nashville, tennessee. Completed in may 2013, the piece is featured in a large atrium space visible from the exterior of the building. Designer benjamin ball is known for exploring the intersection of architecture, art and product design through physical modeling and the use of digital and more traditional forms of production, as seen in this latest creation. The spiral form gently curves its way down the high void. Made from intricately crafted beaded pieces, the form is at once gentle and bold, the contrasting elements reflect a soft, glowing light from the large full height windows.

Skin Deep

Paris based photographer Julien Palast knows how to showcase the human body in a particular way. What’s interesting about this series is that despite basically shrink-wrapping and hiding the human forms, you actually become more aware of them. The contours and curves of the female and male figures are slickly highlighted by the well-selected material—a gradiented array of vibrantly tropical colors and just enough sheen in all the right places.

Laetitia Casta in H and M lingerie campaign

High street fashion giant H&M has chosen French model and actress Laetitia Casta to front its new lingerie campaign. After devoting time to her acting career, Casta is now back in touch with the world of fashion and beauty. As well as being the face of the new Dolce & Gabbana fragrance, she puts her perfect shape to use to present a holiday collection by H&M. Posing seductively, Laetitia appears sun-drenched in push-up bras ranging from lacy to sequined styles. The world class model has not lost her curves, looking sensual in the new glitter chic pieces. The special collection includes heart-shaped push-up bras with sequins and crystals, shorties and lace panties. Also here is some other photos she has taken in the past.

Sexy Seating.

I’ll do my best to not sound pornographic when describing this design, but the truth is that this is one sexy piece. The JOKI bench’s curves have a sensual aesthetic that is also functional as it contours the human body perfectly. The fluid shape was carefully planned so the modular pieces can be recombined to align perfectly no matter which ends you combine.

The Shape Of Things To Come.

Curves are the new black when it comes to industrial design. From the elongated drop silhouette of Apple’s Macbook AIR laptop computer, to the very sexy swooping lines of the Fisker “Karma” Hybrid Sports Car.  From time to time, my staff will sometimes run across objects of desire that are truly intriguing by design but confusing when it comes to function. This collection of leather home accessories by Jerome Olivet for French home furnisher Roche Bobois, is a perfect example of this. From what we could gather we have a photo-frame, a basket, a magazine rack, a laptop surface?, a charger plate?, a vase? and a flux capacitor? Whatever they are intended to function as, they are certainly beautifully designed with luscious gradient curves begging to be touched. I suppose that when objects look this good, they don’t really need an obvious function.
